A YEAR LATER

NEW FRUITS

I slowly peeled my heavy eyes open and the sight of blood running down my legs caught my eyes. The huge black rats creeping from the thousand packed boxes before me started crawling toward me. A sudden sharp pain from my feet caught my attention.

The terrible bites wounds, which I was sure were from the rats had turned green-ish and purple. “Aah” a sharp groan escaped my lips while reaching for my legs with my trembling hands. Slowly and carefully I dragged my aching body to sit upright.

The huge steel door before me suddenly flew open and tears involuntarily started rolling down my eyes. “No! No! No!” I yelled dragging my body into a corner.
