Cassandra’s POV

Tick tock!

Time passed, yet my brain still couldn’t think of the best way to refute Mira’s claims. I didn’t even know what I was supposed to defend. I didn’t know if she actually knew the truth or if she was simply making assumptions like the other time.

Should I deny it again, or should I keep quiet?

“Why are you not answering me, Cassandra? Or do you not have anything to refute this time?” Mira taunted, and I turned to face her.

“Mira, I don’t know what you mean..”

“Don’t fucking play dumb with me, Cassandra! I know everything that has been happening between you two!” she screamed, and I froze. “I even saw what you were doing at the cinema!”

“You… knew?” I whispered, biting my lips as my mind raced, wondering when she had found out.

Had she been letting me make a fool of myself this whole time while she already knew?

“No, it’s more like I found out today,” Mira said sharply. “But I didn’t want to believe it. Because why would you of all people do that to me?” Her ey

Cassandra’s POV “Mhmm…” I groaned in my sleep, a stifling headache setting in. I wanted to stretch, but I found my body rigid, unable to move. My eyes fluttered open immediately. I looked around the unfamiliar, abandoned building, trying to remember how I got there, but I gasped as the memories came crashing in. “I’ve been kidnapped!” I exclaimed in disbelief. I tried to untie myself from the chair, but it was impossible. My wrists were bound tightly. I looked around frantically to see if anyone was nearby, or if this was some sick prank. “Is anyone there? Somebody help me!” I screamed, but only my own voice echoed back at me. Anxiety clawed at my chest, but then I saw my bag lying on the floor. Realizing my phone might be inside, I tried to drag the chair toward it. If I could get my phone and call Dante, he might be able to save me in time. I started dragging the chair, the legs scraping against the floor with a loud creaking noise. Before I could reach my bag, I heard he

Cassandra’s POV“What? Do you suddenly think you might have fallen for me, now that you know I’m leaving?” he teased, and I sighed.I was indeed sad, because even if I treated Sergio like a thorn in my flesh, I had still grown to like him as a friend during those times. I had spent enough moments with him to know he wasn’t all bad. I would really miss him if he left, more than I wanted to admit.“That’s quite fast, but don’t worry. I will make sure to send you a parting gift before you leave. Take care of yourself, Sergio,” I said as I turned around to leave, and this time around I knew this was my goodbye… and it stung far more than I expected. After I left Sergio’s place, I went to look for Mira, as we had both planned to make, or look for evidence to get Margaret into trouble. Though I didn’t know how Mira planned on doing that, I was fully onboard, desperate for any truth that would clear my name.“Hey, pretty girl!” Mira waved at me, winding her car window down, and I immediately

Cassandra’s POVI noticed Tyson enter the room, and I pretended to be asleep because I didn’t know where to even start explaining myself. Mira had taught me that little trick, though I wasn’t sure if it would actually work, but the man only sat beside the bed, gently caressing my face.“If we could go back in time, I would’ve chosen not to bump into you in the hotel lobby that night,” I heard him say after a long while. Then he left the room.My eyes fluttered open immediately.I couldn’t believe what I’d just heard. It sounded like Dante regretted meeting me, and that realization hurt me to the bone. Was I the only one still trying to patch this sinking relationship?“What nonsense?” I muttered. “Does he think I’m some lost girl who can’t—”I stopped myself, biting my lip hard in frustration, refusing to dwell on it further.Anger simmered inside me as I turned back to sleep, crossing my heart to never speak a word to that man again until he apologized.*****************I woke up th

Dante’s POVI entered the car, brewing with anger, and asked my assistant to drive away, but my mind couldn’t help revisiting the past, the day Sergio’s brother, Ethan, died.It was true that I had left the underground world, but one of the deals we carried out before I walked away had backfired. I had warned Ethan to lay low for the time being because our opponent was powerful, and he wouldn’t have been able to handle them alone. But he was stubborn. He believed he could manage everything by himself, and there was no reasoning with him, so I let him be. That decision haunted me. Not long after, he was betrayed by his own men. They sold him out to his enemies, leaving him completely powerless. When they caught him, he called me for help, but before I could reach him, I was ambushed myself.I was shot and rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. When I woke up, it was already too late to save Ethan. The loss destroyed something inside me. I went on a killing spree, hunting down ev

Dante’s POVAfter I walked out of Margaret’s room, my face hardened with anger as the realization hit me that she had fooled me for years. I felt stupid..humiliated, that it had taken me barely a month to see who she truly was.How could I have been such a fool not to notice?“And now she’s dragging Cassandra into her games,” I muttered in frustration, because it was taking far too long to uncover something solid on Margaret. It was almost as if heaven itself was helping her cover her tracks. As I stormed down the hospital corridor, I overheard some nurses gossiping, and what they said immediately caught my attention.“Did you know the woman admitted today is faking her sickness?” one of the nurses said.“Yes, the woman in the VIP ward. I can’t believe she was so keen on spending that much money while insisting we don’t step foot in her ward,” the other replied. “She refused to see a doctor, claiming she just needed the hospital bed for her baby’s growth.”My steps slowed. They were d

Margaret’s POVMy palms grew clammy with sweat as I watched Julio approach me, my mind scrambling through different lies to tell him about why I had attacked him with a vase. It was all so presumptuous, reckless.“Hi… I didn’t..I swear…” I rasped, but he grabbed my chin roughly, forcing me to look at him. I blinked profusely in fear as my gaze locked with his.“Margaret, why do you keep disappointing me?” he said through gritted teeth. My throat went dry with fear as I struggled to think of the right words to pacify his anger.“I—listen to me, Julio. I don’t know what you’ve heard, but everything is working perfectly,” I lied, because I couldn’t let him know what Dante thought of the prank I had pulled.“How dare you think of lying to me, Margaret?” he roared. “Does the man who just left this room look like someone who bought your lies?”He pulled out his gun, and I instinctively clutched my stomach, trembling violently.“Please, don’t shoot me, Julio!” I begged.“Really?” he asked co
