A New Threat

Elise's POV.

I was with Damien's secretary in the car and we were headed to the cemetery. I hadn't visited Natalie's grave for a while now.

"What time is it?" I asked Fernanda.

"It's twenty-eight minutes after four," Fernanda replied after checking her watch.

"What is the time in Paris?" I inquired, facing her.

Fernanda checked her phone and responded, "Paris is nine hours ahead, so it's almost 2 am,"

"I told Damien to call me anytime he wants to sleep, why hasn't he called me yet," I asked, my voice laced with worry. "I always get confused about the time. I hope he's okay,"

"You should call him," Fernanda said.

"Yeah, I'll call him," I muttered and unzipped my bag to retrieve my phone. "Where's my phone?" I asked and pouted when I didn't see it.

"You must have forgotten it at the office," Fernanda said and I recalled how I left it on the table.

"How could I be so forgetful and careless?" I asked and chided myself in anger.

"It wasn't your fault, you were quite busy," She muttered a
