Kendell

"What do you mean by that?" I asked, my eyes darting into George's.

"Yes, Alpha," he admitted. "Elder Dexter was taking on two maids," he completed.

His words were sickening to my ears. "Are you sure of what you said?" I asked, my heart not wanting to come to terms with his discovery.

"Yes, Kendell," he sighed. "Besides, what do I stand to gain by accusing him of such?" He turned his face in the direction of the palace as a guard approached us.

George was right. What did he stand to gain in all this? That meant Elder Dexter was capable of more sins than we could count.

May the Moon Goddess help him, because if I do find Ciara and she confesses that he had a hand in her disappearance—that is if she was still alive. Then he wouldn't like the outcome.

"Hey, bro," George said, resting his hand on my shoulder. "Don't think about this too much. I just wanted to let you in on what I found."

I nodded at his words as I ran a hand through my chestnut hair.

"Greetings, Alpha.

Alexa"Lucy, you are back?" I said as I rushed to hug her. She looked lovely, like she got a much-deserved rest. "I'm sorry, Luna," she said with a frown on her face. "I couldn't tell you before leaving." I folded my arms, pretending to be angry. "The next time you leave without informing me, I will have you replaced," I stated. "Yes, Luna." She smiled as she looked past me to Trisha, whose hand was still behind her. Oh God, what had gotten into me? I shouldn't have done that... I sighed inwardly. What Trisha did was wrong, but I shouldn't have— "Greetings," Trisha said to Lucy. "Trisha, what happened?" Lucy asked as she dropped the bag she was holding and bent over to Trisha. "It was an accident," Trisha lied smoothly. "What accident would cause this?" Lucy frowned as she picked up Trisha's hands. "I stepped on her palms with my heels," I admitted. "And it was intentional," I added. I hated being this psychic lunatic, and I was glad Lucy was here. At least s

Dexter.Kendell had entrusted me with investigating George. Apparently, he trusted me and doubted George more than ever. Fool. I was more than willing to fan those doubts, to push him further into suspecting George—anything to get him off my back. A message arrived that morning. WE NEED TO MEET AGAIN. Kia's letter was short, as always. "TONIGHT AT THE USUAL," his message concluded. Kia was indeed a pain in everyone's ass. That bastard—what was he here for again? Was he planning to set another place on fire? ...Shadows stretched long in the hidden passage where I waited. My patience was snapping short. Then, as if the darkness itself had heard me, Kia stepped forward, his hood drawn low, his silvery hair glinting. "What are you here for, Kia?" I asked, folding my arms. "Dexter, is that the warm welcome I get from you?" he cooed, his voice carrying an edge of amusement. "What stupid welcome is that?" I sighed. His smirk deepened. "Well, I come bearing good

Kendell"Nana is happy about the preparation," George started as he stared into space. "That's good. If there's anything she needs, she can go to any of the stores to get it," I encouraged. "But of course, Alpha," he smiled as he leaned back."Can I ask you something?" His orbs were now settled into mine."Yes, go on." I sat upright to listen to him."About Alexa, is she still insistent that you reject her?" he asked, worry etched on his face. I sighed. "I don't really know, George, but Alexa seems to harbor a deep hatred for me." "That's sad to hear," George said, looking over at the group of people practicing a dance. Their bodies were beautifully adorned with accessories, and their leg chains made sounds every time their feet stepped on the floor. "Yes, it is," I said, also joining George in admiring the women. "That reminds me, did Nana share anything with you that might be of help in finding Ciara?" George snapped his fingers, his eyes bulging with joy. "She did say

AlexaThe mention of Nana's name made my world crumble. Had she come to rub it in my face that she was now getting wedded to my husband? Or to tell me how my husband was with her last night—how their screams and moans filled the air? Or maybe this was just a display of her new, glowing purple mate mark, tilting her head to the side so I could see it. Hers would be stark and fresh against her skin. While mine was fading, and stuck to me like a birthmark. But one thing didn’t add up. If Nana had indeed spent the night at Kendell’s place, why didn’t I feel the pain of betrayal surge through me? Why did I sleep so peacefully? When Norman was unfaithful, the bond had made sure I felt every second of it. Each night he spent with Xena made me experience immense pain. I had once felt like killing myself during one of their escapades. Maybe it was because I had rejected Kendell. That was why I couldn’t feel anything. Maybe our souls were no longer bonded together. I just wish

Kendell"It's about you and Luna, Alpha," Dexter said, his eyes locked onto mine. "What about us?" I asked. "You both seem distant lately. I hope it has nothing to do with the accident?" His words stirred something within me, but I refused to let it show. "No, Elder Dexter, thank you," I said, forcing a smile. Then, lowering my voice, I added, "Don't forget about what we spoke about." He gave a small nod before exiting the chamber, his expression unreadable... Not until later that day, after he spoke, did I have the urge to speak to Alexa. When I reached her chambers, she wasn’t present, so I decided to wait for her. Why was she having her early morning bath so late? I wondered. I sat for a while, long enough to begin questioning if she would come out at all. Then, just as I was about to leave, she did. Her body was wrapped in a beautiful white robe, her hair still glittering with droplets of water that trailed down her skin. Her expression was one of shock, but it was quic
