CHAPTER 2

ELIZA'S POV

"Eliza, you're back," My friend who volunteered to look after my baby, stood at the door with my sleeping two-week-old in her arms.

"How was the game?" She asked, standing aside for me to come in.

But I just stood there like an empty shell of myself, staring at my poor little one, remembering all the beautiful moments I shared with his father.

The memories and promises we made... Everything hurts now!

"Eliza, you're crying. What happened?" Tina, my friend, asked worriedly, stepping closer to comfort me.

My tears came pouring out even more, forcing me to pull away from her hold when she wanted to offer me her support.

I just stormed into the house and sat on the bed, wrapping my arms across my chest so my heart won't crumble completely.

"Eliza, please talk to me," Tina begged, standing before me.

That's when my sleeping baby woke up and began crying, forcing my motherly instincts to kick in.

"My son. I thought he was sleeping," I spoke, stretching my hand up to take him.

Tina nodded and said while handing him over, "He was. The little one must have felt his mother's pain. Remember you're connected. He can feel your emotions."

Hearing what Tina said, my body grew weak with sadness and pity for my son.

I looked down at him and saw his little mouth looking for my nipples, as his cries died down slowly.

This is the product of mine and Lucas's love. How could Lucas betray us like this?

Although I was broken, I couldn't let my son suffer for his own father's sins. He's still my child, my flesh and blood.

I sniffed to suppress my tears before pulling my top up to feed my baby. Once he felt my nipple touching his lips, he carefully wrapped that little mouth of his, sucking out the milk.

"I guess he was hungry too," Tina laughed, making me chuckle lightly.

Then there was silence around us for two minutes straight, before Tina, who now sat by my side watching me feed my baby, said in a cool worried tone, "I believe you saw it yourself."

The moment she said that, my heart skipped.

I lifted my eyes at Tina and realized she knew.

"When you told me to go to the games despite Lucas's instruction, did you know about his..." I paused with trembling lips, waiting to hear what she'd say.

Without holding back, Tina nodded, revealing her awareness to Lucas's affair.

It turns out that she knew about his secret affair with this strange lady two months ago, but didn't know how to tell me because she knows how much I loved him.

But she couldn't take it anymore when she overheard Lucas's plans to have a mating ceremony with this lady behind my back, and still keep me as his fiancée like all is well.

That's why she encouraged me to go and watch the fight, knowing well I'll see the truth.

"I'm sorry you had to find out this way, Eliza. I'm deeply sorry," She sympathized with me, giving me a hug.

I was pained deeply.

After sacrificing so much to make this relationship work, Lucas betrayed me.

I gave my body to this man and he chose another woman!

"What am I going to do, Tina? What will I do?" I cried, burying my head on her shoulder.

Suddenly, the door swung open and Lucas walked in, holding the trophy given to him at the game, and holding the hand of his lover, Lady Tamari.

They both stood like the perfect couple in the world, as this cheat of a fiancé lowered his head, unable to look me in the eyes.

Only his lover gave me a big smile and said with pride, "So this is the filth of a fiancée you told me about. And is that..."

She frowned with disgust on seeing my baby sucking my breast, then she gave out a fake puke, covering her mouth.

"The tiny one is repulsive. It's a good thing we're not taking him with us to our new home," She revealed their nasty plans, stunning me to the core.

"Taking him? You wanted to take my son?!" I roared at Lucas, glaring at him.

But my shameless fiancé acted like he didn't hear what I said and spoke to his lover, "Baby, I told you we didn't need to come here. This infested place isn't good for your beautiful skin."

"My love, I know. I only wanted to see the whore who dragged you into poverty," She spoke with irritation, looking at me again.

"She even got pregnant to trap you down in this filth of a home. Thank the Goddess for sending me to save you, my Love," She giggled, kissing Lucas's cheek to make me jealous.

I was mad listening to everything this woman just said.

Even Tina got mad and yelled, getting to her feet, "If anyone is the whore here, it's you!"

Tamari rolled her eyes, clinging herself to Lucas like a daddy's girl.

"You just showed up like a plague and ruined a perfect relationship! You're a slut sent from hell. I hope you burn for what you've done!"

"Shut up, Tina! How dare you speak to my fiancée like that?!" Lucas shouted, stepping forward to hit my friend.

Before he could even get in her face, I stood in front of Tina with my baby, stopping Lucas in his track.

He had his hand frozen midair, as he stared into my red teary eyes and weakly lowered his arm down, letting out a groan as he said to me, "If you or your useless friend speak ill of my woman again, I won't hesitate to punish you."

Hearing his threat, I chuckled and said, giving him one good look from head to toe, "So, this is the real you huh? The man who promised to never leave me, to love me till the end of time, to stand by me in difficult times... That version was nothing but a fake. This is the real you."

Lucas rolled his eyes while Tamari giggled like I just made a joke.

"Lucas, when we first met, I was on my own. You were the one who chased me until I agreed to be your woman. I did so much for you. I even sacrificed my own body to bring our son into this world," I said with pain, lifting our son up a little for him to see his face.

"I sacrificed myself for this relationship and this is how you want to repay me?!"

"What did you sacrifice? You call giving birth to this thing a sacrifice?" He insulted, striking me in the chest.

"All you've ever given me from day one is nothing but suffering and poverty! You didn't do anything for me, Eliza! Only Tamari..." He stretched out his arm, inviting his lover over.

She walked like a Queen and held Lucas close romantically, giving me a devilish victorious grin.

"Only Tamari made a sacrifice here. She's the one who got me into the fight, and thanks to her support, I won," Lucas bragged, caressing her face with love.

When I heard what he said, I was dumbfounded!

"What?" Tina and I sounded in shock.

That's a bloody lie. Even Tina knows that I'm the one who made an appeal to get Lucas into the game!

"She's the one who helped you? That's a..." Before Tina could expose the truth, I quickly held her hand, stopping her from talking.

She looked at me in surprise, not wanting to let this go. But I signalled her not to speak, forcing her to stay shut.

Lucas and Tamari didn't even see this. They were busy getting cozy in my front, making me listen to their future plans.

"Now I have a house of my own and a good job at the palace. You're the best thing that ever happened to me, Tamari. I love you."

"I love you too, Lucas."

They both confessed their love for each, locking lips to show off their affection.

It was soul wrenching, but I refused to show anymore weakness before these two, especially to Lucas.

He has made his decision already and I won't stop him.

"Even though my heart belongs to someone else now, I am still willing to help support our son's upbringing," Lucas spoke coldly, looking at our child with the same disgusting gaze like Tamari's.

"But if you try to use this child to ruin my home, I'll..."

"You can keep your support to yourself, Lucas. My son and I don't need it. We will never need it," I rejected with my full chest, making his eyes tremble with anger.

Tina joined me and told them to get lost. "She doesn't need your filthy money or help. Eliza and her son will live just fine without your fake help."

"Typical," Tamari mocked, laughing.

Lucas kept staring at me with rage. He didn't expect me to reject his help now that he's big and famous.

But his pride took over and he said, "Fine. It's not like I care. You and this burden of a son can rot for all I care."

"You can leave now, Sir," I said, pointing at the door.

Lucas scoffed and took Tamari's hand, saying as they walked away, "Let's leave this pit of a home."

"Remind me to run some tests. I think I've been infested with their disease," Tamari mocked as they left.

Once they were gone, my heart finally crumbled, and I fell on my knees crying.

"Eliza, please don't!" Tina begged, holding me close.

"Don't waste your tears on that bastard. He'll regret this, just watch and see."

I cried in her hold, holding my baby close to my chest.
