Chapter 7

Author: Sweet Potato Madness
Raymond came to his senses very quickly.

The moment he opened his eyes, they were filled with terror.

He realized his hands and feet were tightly bound to a bed.

A bright light shone straight at his face, so bright that he could hardly open his eyes.

Raymond struggled with all his strength, but he couldn't move.

I watched him flail in vain and let out a sneer. "Mr. King, don't bother struggling. I paid a fortune to learn this tying method from a group of foreign mercenaries. No one has ever managed to get loose."

Raymond gave up. He turned his gaze to me. There was something strange in his eyes.

He asked, "What do you want?"

I slowly put on a pair of gloves. They were cool and rubbery against my skin.

Inside, I felt oddly calm.

I took out an old yearbook and turned to the page where Raymond's photo appeared.

He was so much younger in that picture. His back was straight. His hair was still dark.

He stood in the center of the photo, smiling kindly. Behind him stood my older s

Raymond said, "I did think something was off. Your sister resembled Ivy a bit too much. To feel young again, I used the same tricks to lure your sister home. Too bad. I only slept with her once, and then she jumped."He clicked his tongue like he felt both regretful and frustrated.I felt strangely calm, as though the person he described was a stranger."You realized something was wrong. So you stayed hidden for ten years. But why did you choose to visit my sister's grave today?"Raymond sighed and said calmly, "I knew it had to be some kind of trap. But I was diagnosed with cancer a few days ago. I don't have long to live. I'm not afraid of dying anymore. Before I died, I wanted to see Ivy one more time."By the way, what exactly did Ivy say before she died?"Raymond's tone carried a hint of curiosity. That was probably one of the reasons he came.Disgust churned in my stomach. I wanted to kill him with my own hands, but I forced it down. I rose to my feet and looked him in the

  • A Will to Kill   Chapter 6

After I finished arranging my mother's funeral, I took her journal and went back to my hometown.I did it for only one reason. I wanted to avoid James. The police had already ruled David, Linda, and Martha's deaths as suicides. However, James refused to let it go. He insisted on digging out the truth. His repeated questioning made me feel exhausted. When I got back to my hometown, I couldn't wait to open my mother's journal. On the very first page, she had written only one sentence."Fiona, if you're reading this journal, it means you've been brave. That makes me feel at ease."I covered my mouth as tears fell.On the day Linda ended her life, she had called me over to her side. When she told me Ivy's final message, she was holding my hand. All the reporters were focused on what she was saying, so no one noticed when she quietly slipped a small piece of paper into my hand. That piece of paper revealed where she hid her journal.I followed the directions on that note and fou

The moment I heard it, my eyes widened. I couldn't hide my shock.Panicked, I tried to grab Linda's hand. However, her reaction was even quicker. She straightened a loose strand of hair and smoothed out a wrinkle in her clothes. Then, she gave me a warm smile.Suddenly, she turned and ran toward the window. We were on the 30th floor.I felt as if my heart were ripping apart. I screamed at the top of my lungs, "Mom, no!"However, she didn't listen. She left me behind. With surprising agility, she climbed over the window and jumped without hesitation.Just like Ivy, Martha, and David, Linda made the same choice. She ended her life decisively.I rushed toward her. For a split second, I caught a corner of her clothing. Then, it slipped from my hands.I watched her fall like a butterfly with broken wings.I saw her figure become smaller and smaller until it was just a small black dot on the ground.I cried my heart out, almost to the point of passing out. From that moment on, I

Linda said, "I know why David ended his life, and I know what Ivy's final message was. I'm the only one who can answer your questions."She smoothed her hair and smiled. Our family had lost three people in a row. The police treated the case seriously.Countless reporters covered our story, drawing nationwide attention.People everywhere were curious about the last message Ivy left behind and how it led Martha and David to take their own lives. They crowded outside our home, hoping to interview Linda. However, she stayed inside, refusing to come out. She spent every day holding our family photo, sitting there hour after hour.Seven days after David died, the police retrieved his body from the river. It was disfigured from soaking in the water. Strangely, though, the smile on his face looked exactly like the smiles Martha and Ivy had when they died. The police thought it was bizarre. Drowning was supposed to be painful, so the body would normally show signs of agony. How could h

The next day, the police came to our door again. My parents weren't home, so I greeted the police and let them in.An officer asked, "Did your sister have any suicidal thoughts recently, like failing exams, fighting with your parents, or heartbreak?"I racked my brain for a long time and finally shook my head.Ivy had always been top of her class. She got perfect scores on every final exam. She was obedient, and my parents cared for her. They never scolded her. They had no reason to.As for heartbreak, that was impossible. Ivy was only in seventh grade. She didn't have a boyfriend. The police couldn't figure it out, so they tried a different approach."What about your grandmother? Did she show any intention of ending her life lately? The moment she saw Ivy's note, she jumped. So what exactly did Ivy write?"When I heard them mention my grandmother, tears streamed down my face.I was sad about Ivy, but Martha's death affected me more. After all, I watched her jump in front of

When David mentioned his late mother, his voice choked with tears. He clearly felt deep sorrow. However, he seemed to realize something. He closed his eyes. "She was old. Her mind was failing. Maybe after Ivy died, she didn't want to live anymore. Alright, stop asking. This is the end of it!"With that, David returned to his room. He never said another word about Ivy.However, I couldn't stop thinking about that note. I wanted to know my sister's final words.Linda felt the same.Three days later, David got drunk and passed out on the bed.Taking advantage of the situation, Linda found the note in his pocket. She opened it in a hurry.Suddenly, she froze in place.I saw my mother's expression change instantly. I felt anxious and asked, "Mom, what exactly did Ivy write?"She didn't answer like I thought she would. It was like she'd been scared stiff. She just stood there, completely dazed.I panicked and rushed forward, trying to grab the paper. However, my mother's reaction

  • A Will to Kill   Chapter 1

My younger sister, Ivy White, died the day before the new semester started. She jumped from the 16th floor of Redwood Heights, where our family lived. She didn't bleed much, her head twisted to one side. Her body was curled in a pool of blood. It was eerie that her face wore a smile. When people saw the expression on Ivy's face, they all gasped. She was so young, yet her smile looked unnaturally sinister and cruel. It gave everyone goosebumps. My mother, Linda Madison, broke down and cried. My father, David White, who had stood tall all his life, suddenly slumped. He silently smoked one cigarette after another. The police comforted us while following procedures. "If there's a suicide note, we can close this as a suicide."So, all of us began searching Ivy's room, trying to find a note.My grandmother, Martha Haggard, was the first to discover it.There was only one sentence in that note.Martha held the paper in her hand, looking stunned. Then, she suddenly cried out, "Ivy.
