Chapter 3

What was inside were video files, the thumbnails all showing Jordan's familiar face.

I trembled as I clicked on the first one. The recording time was one month before his "sacrifice".

In the frame, his brow was tightly furrowed, and his expression displayed his impatience.

"Sasha has no idea what I truly want. A mate with a weakened bloodline will only hinder my path to becoming the strongest Alpha. Every day with her feels like acting, and I can barely hold on anymore.

"Fortunately, it's almost over. Win says she has everything arranged. I just need to wait for a big enough fire—one blaze convincing enough to make everyone believe I 'sacrificed' myself…

"Soon, I can completely escape all this and start a new life with Win."

The tablet slipped from my hands and fell onto the carpet with a dull thud.

The pack honor I believed in and our deep bond as a couple—everything was just a one-person show I was starring in alone.

All my love, my longing, and my sacrifices had become one big joke.

I picked up my phone and began looking into the pack unification initiative that had just flashed through my mind.

I used the last bit of authority I had as Luna and quickly found its funding sources.

One was the huge compensation payment issued by the Elder Council after Jordan's "sacrifice", while the other was from Jennifer's personal account.

It turned out everyone was just putting on an act. I was the only fool.

Waves of overwhelming rage and the sickening revulsion of being betrayed by those closest to me swept over me.

I rushed straight to Jennifer's residence. The moment I pushed open the door, I saw a scene I would never forget.

Jordan, Winnie, and Jennifer were holding champagne. Their faces were radiant with the joy of success, seeming to celebrate something.

The air was thick with the stench of money and conspiratory.

When Winnie saw me, her smile brightened even more, and triumph flashed in her eyes.

"Sasha, you're here?" She swirled her glass and sauntered over in bold steps, her scent overwhelming.

She deliberately walked right up to me and shoulder-checked me hard.

I was already weak from carrying the pup, so I staggered backward from the hit and lost my footing.

"Sasha! What are you doing?" Jennifer screamed, making no move to help me up.

Instead, she immediately rushed forward to shield Winnie, acting as if I were the dangerous one. "You can't even stand steadily, and yet you want to pick on Win?"

Jordan's expression darkened further, and he strode forward. In that instant, the terrifying pressure of a top-tier Alpha erupted in the room.

It felt like an invisible mountain was crushing down on me, making my blood stir and almost forcing me to my knees.

His gaze was as ferocious as an enraged beast.

"You crazy bitch! I warned you to stay away from us!" he yelled as he grabbed my arm. The force he exerted felt as though he wanted to crush my bones.

"Get out!" He shoved me hard.

I was pushed away violently, and my lower back slammed heavily into the sharp corner of a table.

A gut-wrenching pain tore through my abdomen, instantly spreading through every limb and bone. I could feel my life force rapidly draining from me, as well as an unstoppable warm flow down below.

When I looked down, I saw bright red blood flowing down my legs.

My vision began to blur, and the world around me spun. Before I lost consciousness, I saw no trace of panic in their gazes—only icy disdain and irritation at being interrupted.

Jennifer even turned away entirely, as if the sight of me was outright filthy.

With my last shred of strength, I took the cold moonstone token from my pocket and crushed it. A barely perceptible crimson light burst from the token before vanishing instantly into the air.

I faced those three demons and mustered every ounce of my remaining power to utter my final words, "The Elder Council won't let you get away with this… You are… murdering a pup…"

Austin appeared behind me at some point, taking off his own coat and draping it over my shoulders. He didn't offer me warm water. Instead, he handed me a pendant glowing with soft moonlight."I heard what happened," he said in a steady tone." This is the Moon Goddess's Tear, a sacred relic of my pack. It can stabilize your mother's condition temporarily. I have arranged a private plane to take it to her overnight."His calm demeanor inexplicably soothed me.I only learned later that using the Moon Goddess's Tear to heal someone outside the pack required the heir to exchange half of their bloodline essence and pledge to double their future contributions to the pack. However, at the time, he said nothing about this condition.…From then on, our relationship naturally grew much closer.Three months later, during an operation to eliminate illegal blood hunters, I protected a besieged human village.Despite being on the brink of death, I didn't retreat. My mind flashed with images

Despite that incident, Jordan didn't leave. He lingered in this small southwestern town like a Rogue driven from his pack.He barged into my home, his golden pupils bloodshot as he interrogated me, "Sasha, how could you be so cruel to me?"I was so angry that I laughed.Once upon a time, I really craved his scent. But now, it only sickened me."Alpha Jordan, it was your own choice. You are the one who betrayed our bond and killed our pup," I said coldly. He always held the choice in his hands, but he never once chose me."Sas… Can we start over? You're my only Luna," he pleaded."From the moment you faked your death, the bond between us was over," I retorted, my words ringing out sharp and clear. As I watched him fall apart, I felt nothing inside."Please leave my home, or I will ask the Elder Council to intervene."He looked at the deep, icy indifference in my eyes, and with a wounded expression, he stumbled backward one step at a time. After he left, I discovered a note t

The air in the southwest carried a mix of earthy scent and the sulfur stench left behind by the werewolves' battles, smelling like freedom and ruggedness. Here, bloodline purity was no longer the standard by which everything was measured—sharp claws and teeth that could tear enemies apart were what mattered.I lived under a false identity and started with the most basic clerical work, handling various clashes between humans and werewolves.During a conflict with a local werewolf pack, I formally met Austin. He came to this place as an Elder to resolve a territorial dispute.I saw him up close for the first time at a tense standoff.A local werewolf pack and a human merchant's caravan had a dispute over territory. The werewolves from both sides had already half-shifted, baring their fangs and claws. The air was thick with a frenzied scent. That was when Austin appeared. Dressed in a neat uniform, he slowly walked into the crowd alone. The scent on him—calm like the deep sea, and

I had lost my pup. The healer told me it was due to a heavy blow to the abdomen, while the intense impact of an Alpha's scent had directly destroyed the placenta, causing severe hemorrhaging. The pup of the Moonshadow Pack's strongest Alpha had returned to the Moon Goddess's embrace in such a tragic manner. When I woke up, only my parents were in the hospital room. For the first time, guilt and heartbreak appeared on their faces.Perhaps the shocking sight of blood finally awakened some parental love in them that had been clouded by Winnie's scent."Sasha, don't be afraid." My father gripped my hand tightly, his tone heavy and resolute. "We were wrong, and we failed you. We'll seek justice for you from the Council."A few days later, the Elder Council notified Jordan that I wanted to break our bond.Surprisingly, he couldn't bring himself to accept it. He had faked his death and crafted a new life, but he had never considered that I would so decisively break our bond.A mate bon

Inside the cold interrogation room, the scent belonging to Winnie hadn't fully dispersed yet. It ended up mixing with the smell of disinfectant, making me feel nauseous.Soon, my parents hurriedly arrived as well. But the moment they entered, they didn't even spare me a glance as they rushed toward Winnie, who was sniveling in the corner."Win, my dear, are you alright? Were you frightened?"My mother hugged Winnie and patted her back with a saddened expression. Her gaze at Winnie felt as if she was looking at a rare treasure.Only then did she turn to look at me, her eyes filled with reproach and disappointment."Sasha! How long are you going to keep causing trouble? Are you only satisfied once you've completely disgraced us?" she shouted. My father was even more furious, his expression livid. He lowered his voice, as if afraid outsiders might hear. "Your sister is about to get betrothed to Xander. Do you think it's right to cause a scene like this today? Apologize to them imme
