"Beep!" The loud noise of the other car woke Jackson from his sleep. He looked on his right and saw Steven gazing at the sky.
"What are you thinking about, buddy?" He asked as he rubbed his eyes to clear it.
"Oh, you are awake?" Steven replied.
Jackson sat up, removed his seatbelt, and viewed his surroundings. "Why are we parking on the roadway and not at my home?" Jackson asked when he saw the busy streets and people.
"I was not thinking straight in the bar, but once I sat behind the wheel, and the alcohol left my system, I realized that we both look terrible. Your t-shirt looks like a rag, and your lip seems swollen from the cut you got this morning. Plus, every part of you smells like booze and blood." Steven replied as he rested his head against the car wheel and gazed at his friend.
"And whose fault is it that I look like a fiery mess?" Jackson asked.

The yellow house remained noiseless as Jennie kept holding her breath in. "Jenn, are you okay? Your face looks red." Rose said with concern in her eyes.Jennie opened her mouth and let out a faint sigh. She then took a deep breath. "I'm all right, mom," Jennie replied. She felt better now that she had stopped suppressing her breath."I am glad that you are okay. As I was saying, do you have anything you want to tell me about why you are having all these insecurities? You know your husband is not cheating on you. So is there any other reason you have for thinking in this manner?" Rose continued asking her previous questions.Jennie knew she could not get away from these interrogative sentences, and Rose was good at detecting lies. So, all she could do was tell the truth. "For the ten months I traveled out of the country, I was not ha
Rose finally let go of her boys' ears and released them. Steven and Jackson put a little distance between their mother and themselves. They did not want her to come back for a second time. Their ears were in too much pain to handle another turn.Jennie saw how red their ears were and the anguish in their eyes. She could not control herself from going in for another round of laughter.Rose watched Jennie giggle until her heart was content. "Are you done? If you are, then let's go!" She ordered.Jennie's smile fades away. She knew what her mother-in-law meant, and it was not to her taste."UH?" Steven asked his mom, wishing that Rose was not talking about what he knew she intended them to do."What?" Jackson questioned his mother, hoping that she was speaking about something different from what he had in mind."To where?" Jennie said, believing her feeble-minde
Chloe watches as the taxi stops in front of her home. It was the last place she desired to be, but losing Steven's affection had made her realize that he was her everything. After this morning's incident, Chloe now knows how important the eight years she took as a joke were to her. Standing now at a house that makes her feel alone, Chloe finally saw how exciting Steven made her life. Those green eyes Chloe forgot to admire every day were now the eyes she craved to stare into with every passing second. Chloe could not believe that the hands she was careless about holding unto tightly were the ones she wished were around her waist, hugging her close. Plus, she craves those lips, and how much she loves seeing his creamy pink lips curved into a smile when he sees her. How Steven's mouths gently rested upon hers when he kissed her. But now, without knowing what was happening, she had lost all those beautiful moments within a flash.
The bakery door opened, and it made a loud "bang" noise when it got shut. Louis heard the sound and left the kitchen to check it out. Julie followed her father. She was curious about whom it could be since the shop was closed for the day.Mr. Harper met Rose and Steven waiting for him in the shop. He did not know them. However, they did not seem like costumers to him."I am sorry for slamming your door. I did not mean to shut it hard." Steven nervously replied as he stared at Mr. Harper's athletic-built body. He thought Julie's father would be a tall slim guy since his daughter is slender and curvy."Do you know him?" Louis asked his daughter. He could sense the love and hate in his daughter's voice, and he knew this individual who showed up abruptly had some effect on Julie's miserable mood. Louis wanted to know why he does.Julie folded her hands and gave Steven a sharp stare. "Dad, p
Jackson pushed open the bakeshop door and entered inside. He saw his mother's mad expression and knew that this situation would not be a pleasant one for him or the others.Steven walked in after Jackson and stood next to him. At that moment, his gaze locks on Julie, and she murmurs some words to him. He focused his mind on reading her lips to understand what she was saying. When Steven finally understood her, "I am sorry" was what she tried to tell him. 'I'm sorry? What does that even mean?' he wondered to himself.Jennie steps in and shuts the door. Her eye caught Mr. Harper's gaze as she took her place next to Steven, and his expression seemed gloomy when he saw her.Everyone was in the room, and now there were so many awkward vibes going around. Between Steven, Jackson, and Jennie, none of them wanted to be the first to speak out since they did not know why Mr. Harper and Rose summon them inside.
Julie's heart stops beating for a second as Steven's voice echoes into her ear. She did not know what to think or what to do. Everything happens so fast. One minute Steven's mom and her parents are arguing, and the next Steven announces his affections for her. The most unfavorable part of the moment was that everyone was waiting for her to respond.'How can I reply to such a huge confession if I have not even caught my breath over the fact that he uses the word "Love" and not "like" to express his feelings for me?' Julie thought to herself."Julie, are you all right?" Rose said. She could tell that her son's confession overwhelmed Julie.Julie stood stiffly like a statue and held back her breath. She thought it might decrease how fast her heartbeat was accelerating. Plus, everyone's eyes focusing on her with concern and curiosity did not help the discomfort she was undergoing.
When Steven got home, he headed into his room and fell asleep in his bed. Steven did not wake up until the clock struck eight noon. He half-opens his eyelids, and the light in his room irritates his eyes, so he squeezes them closed. It took one minute for Steven's eyes to adjust to the brightness of the bulbs. Afterward, he slowly opened them, gazed around his room, and heartily smiled. With excitement, Steven reached out for his phone on the nightstand to check on Julie. He grabbed his device and rested his head against his pillow. His finger slid on his phone, and his smile faded away. Chloe's message was still revealing on his phone screen. "How was your day after we went our separate ways today?" The text said, and Steven seeing it again left him with an unsteady feeling like the first time he read it.Steven allowed the phone to slip from his grip and drop on the blanket as he got out of bed. With an unsettled mind,
Chloe pushed the cover from over her and sat up. She could not believe Steven's response."You do?" Chloe asked, still doubting and believing that she heard his words wrong. Her heart kept beating at an immense speed.Steven sat down on the edge of his bed and rubbed his face. He knew what he said and meant every word, but he was not thinking it in the way Chloe was."Yes, I still love you as a friend," Steven replied. He could hear her soft breathing from the other end of the line, and he felt relieved that she had quieted down.Upon hearing his response, an intense agony pierced into Chloe's soul. She covers her mouth with her hand and squeaks. Her eyes became watery.'Don't cry, Chloe! You can't break down now! It doesn't matter how much it hurts.' Chloe thought to herself. Yet, her heart felt like it got crushed by an enormous stone."But, is it possible
