FOUR

I sneaked out of my room with a purse in my hand which contained my credit card, phone, and other things.

It was past midnight and I was sure no one would be awake by this time; not even the maids.

"Ma'am Elina" a voice called, making me almost scream in fright.

I turned around slowly to find Becky, she was our chef.

"Jesus!! Becky, you scared me" I whispered.

"I'm sorry ma'am Elina" she begged.

"What are you doing awake by this time," I asked in a low tone.

"I wanted to go drink some water, if I may ask, why are you dressed like that? Where are you going off to?" She asked?

"Umm.. nothing I'm just..."

"come with me" I suddenly said when I noticed I was saying gibberish.

I held her hand and pulled her with me when she kept walking slowly.

I stopped at a more secured part of the house.

"I need a favor from you, Becky," I said in a pleading tone.

"Anything for you ma'am Elina" she replied.

"Help me escape please" I begged and grabbed her hand.

"Huh!!! I'll lose my job if I get caught" she replied pulling her hand away from mine.

"Becky please, I can't get married to Nicholas, you won't get caught I promise" I assured her.

"I'm sorry ma'am Elina but I can't," she said in fear.

"Becky!!! I need to meet Jeremy tonight, I might never get this chance" I said in desperation.

"Promise me you'll not allow sir Richard to hurt my family if I get caught" she finally said with a sign.

"I promise, just help me escape already," I said in haste grabbing her hand for the second time.

"Okay, so...how do I go about the escape? I can't possibly scale over the fence cos it's too high" I said more like a question.

"Don't worry, I have a plan" she said and I hugged her in excitement.

I walked to the gate in my big maid uniform and a big maid cap which was almost covering my eyes pulling Becky along with me to the gate.

"Hey!! Ma'am Nancy asked me to take her to the hospital" I said to the guards who were at the gate and they took their gaze to Becky who was holding unto me like she was about to die.

"Where's the green pass?" One of the guards asked and I stretched it to him"

The green pass is a small piece of green paper which my mom gives to anyone working at our house in case an emergency occurs in the middle of the night, she gives it to them when she can't call the guards to inform them herself, so they would open the gate.

Without the green pass, you cannot leave the house in the middle of the night.

"Why's your cap like that," he asked, raising his hand to my head.

"Hey!!! Someone is about to die and you're talking about my cap, ma'am Nancy asked me to use the black car meant for the maids" I said impatiently.

"Okay go get the car, the gate would be opened before you get back" he replied redrawing his hand.

"Thank you so much, Becky, I owe you a lot," I said in appreciation.

"You should go back, I'll go meet Jeremy now," I said coming down from the car.

As soon as I stepped down from the car, I ran as fast as my leg could carry me.

I and Jeremy are going to meet at the white lake, we were going to take a boat to the other side of the city, from there, we were gonna take a plane to fly out of the country.

"Elina!!!" A masculine voice called from behind me as soon as I got to the lake.

A voice I'd always recognize.

"Jeremy!!!" I called running into his arms.

"Let's get going already, is the boat ready?" I asked, pulling his arms.

"Breath Elina, we've gotten far enough"

 no one's gonna catch us" he said and stole a kiss from me making me smile.

He finally let go of me and led me to where the boat was kept, besides the lake.

He pushed the boat into the lake and we both went in.

"Promise me you'll never leave me," he said as he paddled the boat.

"Seriously!! Why are you acting like you're about to die, anyway, I'll never leave you nor love anyone else no matter what" I said and he smiled.

I wrapped my arms around Jeremy as he paddled.

"I love you so much," I murmured.

"Hey!!  You two stop that boat now" a voice said from behind us.

"Oh my goodness!! Jeremy, they've found us" I said in fear turning around to find about three men in a boat.

"Stop the boat, I don't wanna hurt any of you," another voice said.

"Jeremy faster please" I half yelled, hitting his arm.

"Elina!! I'm trying my best" he muttered.

The boat which was behind us contained about four men. 

"Ah..." Jeremy screamed out when a bullet pierced into his arm.

Someone in the boat behind us had shot Jeremy.

"Jeremy!!! I'm sorry, hand me the paddle lemme help out" I said taking the paddle from him while he kept wincing in pain.

God!!! I have never paddled a boat all my life and the boat was going slowly.

"Hang on j.j, we'll get there soon" I assured even though the boat was moving slowly.

"Hand me the paddle," Jeremy muttered.

"You're hu..."

Before I could complete my statement, another bullet pierced into his back and the paddle fell off my hand.

"Jeremy!!" I called gripping unto him tightly.

"I'm so sorry I can't help you escape," he said and a tear fell off my eyes.

"Jeremy please stay awake for me, I'll get you out of here, just stay awake please" I pleaded as more years poured out.

"I'm sorry" he muttered weakly as his eyelids were closing slightly.

His hand reached up to my chin and then it went back down as his eyelids closed completely making me let out a painful scream.

One of the men whom I hadn't noticed had jumped into the lake and swam towards our boat.

"You bastard, you killed him" I yelled slapping him hard across the face while he was still inside the water.

He entered into the boat and I slapped him across the face again.

I placed both my hands on his neck trying to choke him.

"Fuck you" I yelled throwing punches on his chest.

I had planned to do so many things with Jeremy when we flew out of the country but all my plans had been spoilt.

I felt a sting on my neck and I suddenly became weak, my eyes became heavy.

"What did you do to me?" I asked in a whisper and blackout.
