Lia’s POV

The door burst open with a loud creak, Damon and several of Kade’s men flooding in with their guts raised. The shootout had ended but the chaos hadn’t.

“Boss!” Damon barked, rushing to Kade’s side. His men surrounded us within seconds, securing the room to make sure no one dared to enter. “We need to get him to his safe house. Now.”

Before I knew it, hands grabbed me, lifting me roughly to my feet as others lifted Kade’s unconscious body off the floor.

I tried to fight against their grip, but they dragged me out of the room. My screams for Kade were swallowed by the roar of engines as we were shoved into the blank SUVs.

I didn’t even remember getting to the car, all I remembered was the cold weight of Kade’s blood soaking into my dress and the crushing fear that this was the last time I would ever see him.
