"I'm sorry Miss, but we're not hiring today." The manager broke down the news to me as soon as it got to my turn for the interview. I had been to three different interviews in the space of two hours and all three of them told me the same thing. It was becoming a familiar mantra that didn't sound pleasing to my ears.

"Not hiring?" I arched a brow at him "But there are thousands of applicants waiting to get interviewed today and I saw your flier that there was an open position in your restaurant."

"Yes, you're right but that doesn't mean that you're fit for the job. I just checked your resumé and you're not a better candidate. I'm sorry." He told me empathetically but I felt like he was just being rude. It as if he was applying salt to my already open wounds.

"Listen" I pushed myself forward "I really need this job sir. I'm willing to do anything. I can cook, clean, wash...I can even take out the trash if you want me to but please, don't let me leave this place without a jo
