"She was the first rose," he said with a faraway look as if lost in thought.

I gasped, “A rose?” Roses were the highest ranking flowers and to become one required exceptional skill and intelligence, their hands were tainted in blood. Roses were the leaders among the flowers, on par with the Orchid Lords themselves.

He continued, his voice low and introspective. "She hid the fact that her body had merged with the drug at a young age. She wasn't addicted, and so she couldn't be controlled. The fact that she wasn't under their control terrified them so they locked her up in a laboratory, demanding that she produce a drug that replicated the effects of her body."
