I walked inside the newsroom, feeling self-conscious. I was gone for a week, and expected people to ask where I had been.

Surprisingly, no one asked. It puzzled me that no one even noticed my arrival. I was not expecting a grand entrance, but I was also not expecting silence. I shrugged and grinned inwardly. It was business as usual.

Everyone’s busy.

I passed by Nick’s desk. He smiled when our eyes connected.

“Are you alright?” There was concern in his voice.
