CHAPTER 4

VITTORIA'S POV.

I feel like my soul is getting out of my body right now.

How did I end up committing such a big mistake? Now, I'm not just accidentally married to some random person, but I'm stuck in a marriage to Marcello Giordano, the cold and ruthless Mafia kingpin who doesn't think twice before snapping someone's head off in seconds of being offended.

I know him very well. Of course, everyone in New York City knows a lot about him, but only a few have ever set eyes on him, if not for anything, for the fact that he's the first face on the FBI's most wanted list of criminals.

Why did I even get angry with Diego in the first place?

Hasn't it always been sung that all men are cheats because they're polygamous in nature? And most women have been managing to stay married to their cheating men, right?

I would have just endured to hear from Diego. Maybe all this mess wouldn't have happened.

"Please, promise me that you won't hurt me," I said, my voice slow and steady, because I know how dangerous he can be.

Worst of all, if he finds out my connection to the Alfonso's, my life and that of my entire family will be gone! Now, I can't just take him to meet my family–the flesh and blood of the same man who stole millions from his family and also leaked information about his illegal dealings to the authorities.

I just nodded to his submission and picked up my phone immediately to send a chat.

I scrolled down to Avery's name.

"Babe. Your elder brother and his wife were in need of some money for their son's treatment, right? Tell them that I got some money for them, but first, I need their help as well.

A man is coming home with me, so I want them to act as my parents. Is that okay?" I texted.

****

I can't believe all this is happening. I can't believe that just a simple mistake in the room number could ruin my life like this.

I could feel his deadly eyes boring into my skin as we moved out of the hotel and strode towards the black Rolls-Royce parked at a distance.

"Hey, wifey, are you okay? Do I make you nervous in any way?" He asked, his voice laced with so much tenderness and care as he locked his palms into mine.

I refused to answer. Of course, he can't fool me. I already knew him as a dangerous Mafia boss, and nothing will make me see him differently from that.

I tried to maintain silence, staring out of the window as we drove down the streets, but this man won't stop talking.

"Hey, Vittoria, look at me. No woman dares to look away while I'm talking to her, do you hear me?" His croaky voice sent shivers down my spine. I turned and fixed my gaze on him.

"But why don't you just annul the marriage? Your supposed bride is still unmarried, right? Why can't you let go of me and get married to her instead?" I asked, blinking irresistibly as I tried to dodge his fiery gaze while he roamed his eyes over my body.

"My biggest rival just declared war. And to secure a claim to the throne, I need a wife. Moreover, the enemy knows about this union already, so backing out will only make me look weak." He explained.

"But no need to worry yourself, you're in safe hands." He added.

"Safe hands? Did he just call being trapped in an accidental marriage with a renowned and most wanted murderer like him as safe hands?"

I couldn't dwell much on my thoughts as he suddenly began to brush his lips over my earlobe, causing goosebumps to run through my body. I tried to give him a distance, but he grabbed my wrist tightly and drew me closer, rolling his tongue over my ears, until he finally slid his fingers in between my tights.

Oh my gosh! When he felt the increasing pulse of my folds, he couldn't help but jerk me up and make me sit on his lap.

His rod was already standing hard, and I could feel it poking me on my butt while he wrapped his two hands around my chest, playing viciously with my nipples.

Oh my....I almost screamed in ecstasy as I couldn't control the feel of that touch on my most sensitive part, but I had to bite my lips and suppress my moan before it would irritate the driver.

"Seems like this is your first time attaining such a level of orgasm, huh?" He chuckled, gritting his teeth as he allowed me to sit back on the car seat.

"How's that your business?" I replied abruptly, but my heart still held a trace of fear. 'Watch your tongue, Vittoria. He can just kill you.' I scolded myself.

He chuckled again, then leaned towards me. "Answer me. Do you enjoy every bit of it from last night?"

I only nodded, but even without that, the look on my face couldn't hide it. Men..... I can't deny it. With the way he handled me, the excitement was out of this world!

It's even making me wish Diego had cheated on me earlier; maybe I would have started enjoying it long before now.

"Now, this is just a preview of what you'll be having very frequently for being my wife." He added.

****

Thankfully, Avery's brother and his wife were able to play the parental role perfectly. They already knew a lot about me since high school because Avery and I have been visiting each other's homes.

But how can I explain all this to my family now?

How can I just adapt to a life of keeping distance from them as if they were never part of my existence?

I had to put my phone on silent because I couldn't pick up their calls in his presence, before I say something that'll make him start suspecting me.

My mother and brother had called me more than a hundred times, but I couldn't return any of their calls because of fear.

Now I feel like my life is useless!

"Vittoria." His voice jolted me out of my thoughts.

"You've been quiet since we left your parents. Are you okay?" He asked.

At first, I shook my head negatively, but when I remembered who was sitting beside me, I nodded positively.

He curled his lips up in a wicked smirk. "I know your type. Well, I  just hope you're not planning on escaping. Are you?" He stretched his hands and held my chin up.

"Just get yourself prepared. We're heading to my home, where you'll meet all my family." He concluded.

Ha! My jaw dropped. 'His family? What if one of them recognises me as the daughter of Alfonso's? For how long would it continue with this pretence?’

I couldn't get those thoughts out of my mind.

What happens if he finds out I've been lying to him from the beginning? Would he kill me just like his victims, or would he just spare my life and make me a slave?

What about Avery's family that I've dragged into this whole issue?

VITTORIA'S POVBoth of us.I stood in the study doorway and let those three words settle into the room and find their weight.A file on both of us meant Reid had not arrived here tonight as a man seeking alliance. He had arrived as a man holding leverage over two people simultaneously and waiting to see which one would be more useful to what came next.I looked at Marcello. His expression was the still, careful version that meant he had already processed several steps ahead of the current moment and was waiting for me to catch up before he moved."Where is he?" I said."Sitting room," Marcello said. "Tw

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE MAFIA BOSS   Chapter 23: Before the Fire

VITTORIA'S POVMarcello moved through the penthouse like a current. Not loud. Not panicking. Just fast and absolutely deliberate, each instruction delivered in a low voice that carried the specific authority of a man who had prepared for something like this so many times that the preparation had become instinct.I stood in the kitchen doorway with Alberto beside me and watched the building transform around us in the space of four minutes. Men appeared from rooms I had not known were occupied. Positions taken at windows and entrances. The quiet mechanical sound of things being locked that I had not known needed locking.Alberto said nothing beside me. He was doing his own version of watching, that careful inventory he had always taken of any

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE MAFIA BOSS   Chapter 22: The Quiet Ones

VITTORIA'S POVRosa. The woman who had appeared every morning with coffee before I reached the kitchen. Who had told Marcello about Diego's visit to the service entrance with the quiet efficiency of someone doing their job? Who had looked at me after Diego left with an expression I had read as professional discretion and had apparently been something else entirely.I looked at the grainy footage on Marcello's phone screen and thought about every small interaction I had catalogued in the past few days. Rosa was setting down cups without being asked. Rosa was hovering at a careful distance during Diego's visit. Rosa appears in doorways at precise moments with precise information. Not discretion.Positioning.She had been positioning herself inside every significant moment since I arrived, close enough to observe, far enough to remain unremarkable, and I had walked past her every single time without seeing it because she had been so thoroughly invisible that invisibility itself had becom

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE MAFIA BOSS   Chapter 21: The Confession That Changed Everything

VITTORIA'S POVI stared at Nissi's message until the screen went dark. Then I turned it back on and stared at it again."I'm sorry. I didn't know they would take him."Eight words that were doing three different things simultaneously. They were a confession. They were a boundary, drawing a line between what Nissi had agreed to be part of and what had apparently crossed even her threshold. And underneath both of those things, buried in the sorry and the didn't know, was something that looked uncomfortably like genuine fear.Nissi was scared.Which meant whatever she had signed up for when she started feeding information to Diego, and Seymour's people ha

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE MAFIA BOSS   Chapter 20: The Four Words

VITTORIA'S POVI read the message four times. Each time, the four words stayed the same on the screen, unmoved by how many times I needed them to mean something different from what they meant."We have your brother."No name attached. No number I recognised. No follow-up message giving me instructions or demands or any of the things that should logically come after four words like that, which was somehow worse than if there had been twenty more sentences underneath them. The silence after a threat is always louder than the threat itself. My hands were not shaking. I noticed that distantly, the way you notice small details when your mind has

  • ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE MAFIA BOSS   Chapter 19: Two in the Morning

VITTORIA'S POVI stayed. Not because he had told me to. He had said it quietly enough that it could have been refused without consequence, and we both understood that. I stayed because the word had come from somewhere unguarded in him, somewhere that did not usually send words out into rooms, and walking away from it would have felt like closing a door on something that had taken considerable effort to open.I took the chair across from the desk, the same chair that had heard more truth in the last twenty-four hours than most chairs heard in a lifetime, and I wrapped both hands around my coffee cup and said nothing.Marcello looked at the map for a moment longer, then pushed it to one side and picked up his own cup.We sat li
