Angel's POV:
It's been a week since my husband traveled. Not gonna lie it was boring.
I kept doing the same things over and over again. I wanted to go outside and see what it looked like around this place.
But then I remembered that he told me not to leave the house.
So all I do is clean, eat, watch movies, read, swim, and sleep.
Over and over.
But today is different because my husband has come back.
I had no idea if I should be happy or sad, because the first thing he did when he arrived was walk straight to his room.
The sound of the door banging echoed through the house. I let out a breath before walking into the kitchen, maybe if I make dinner for him, that will make him happy.
I thought as I walked.
My eyes moved around the kitchen, grabbing the pot and cooking tools.
"What are you doing?" A deep voice asked making me raise my head.
My husband stood there, a frown on his lips.
"Uhm, I wanted to make a meal for you," I whispered looking down at the food.
"No, go get dressed, my father wants us to come over for dinner." He mumbled, his eyes still on me.
I nodded my head before walking towards the stairs, but stopped and turned back to him.
"Uhm welcome home," I said shyly before walking quickly not ready to get yelled at.
When I arrived at the door. I closed the door behind me. A breath left my lips as I tried to take things in.
"Dinner with his father," I said holding my cheeks. I was scared of Ace's father, even though he hardly spoke to me on the wedding day. I still had no idea what he was like.
Shaking my head, I walked towards my closet, my eyes moving around trying to pick an outfit. After looking, I stopped at a short black dress.
I pulled the dress and looked at it carefully before turning towards the mirror.
"This would do," I said to myself before walking towards my bed.i threw it on the bed and began ironing it with my hands. I paused and turned towards the door, then walked towards it. I made sure to lock it before walking back to my dress.
I wasn't ready for Ace to see me naked.
When I was done dressing, I styled my hair and then applied a little makeup because my bruises were going off.
With that done, I headed back downstairs to meet my husband.
Ace gave me a nod, before walking towards the door.
No words were shared.
I looked down at my dress, and a disappointed sigh left my lips. Ace hadn't said anything about it.
"I want you to know that my family can be rude, so I want you to be at your best behavior," Ace mumbled.
"Don't over talk, talk when you are told to." He said.
"Walk with your head held up, you are a Kingston now, a future leader, so please act like one," Ace said glancing at me.
"Yes, Ace," I whispered looking away.
'So I'm a robot now, my only work is to take orders from him,' I thought to myself.
The drive to his parent's house was long and quiet.
He didn't say anything to me after that but did glance at me once in a while.
"Uhm is this an only family dinner or more people would be attending?" I asked softly.
"Just my family and yours," Ace mumbled. I gave him a confused look before asking.
"Family, my father told me he would be traveling soon," I said.
Ace gave me a look, a chuckle leaving his lips.
"Traveling to where?" Ace asked.
"Uhm I don't know, he just mentioned it at the wedding," I mumbled.
"Baby girl, your father still owes me and my brother's money, so if he tries to run, we will kill him," Ace said like it was the most normal thing to say.
Without thinking, I turned straight.
No words to say.
Ace lets out another chuckle before shaking his head.
"All I know is, you are all mine Angel, and no matter what you can't leave," Ace said. But all I could think of was how fucked up my life was because of my father.
"Now let's go," Ace said opening his car door.
As usual, I watched him walk to my side of the car. He opened it and waited patiently for me to come out.
"Again, don't overdo yourself, talk when necessary, don't laugh too much, don't giggle or show love interest to my brothers." He continued saying those words.
But all I did was look at the ground, no idea what to do next.
I felt a mix of emotions as I prepared myself mentally for dinner with Ace's family.
The tension between them was palpable, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of being controlled.
As I listened to Ace's instructions, I began to question the nature of my marriage and the expectations placed upon me.
The revelation about my father's debt added another layer of complexity to my predicament, leaving me feeling trapped.
Despite the attempts to comply with Ace's demands, I couldn't escape the sense that my life was spiraling into an increasingly complicated and unsettling reality.
As Ace outlined the expectations for my behavior, I grappled with the realization that my autonomy was slipping away. The internal conflict intensified as Ace casually spoke about serious consequences, reinforcing the gravity of my situation.
I couldn't shake the feeling of being an outsider in my own life. Ace's control seemed suffocating, and the prospect of facing his family only heightened my anxiety.
With each step, I pondered the cost of the decisions that had led me to this point, questioning if I could find a way to reclaim agency in my narrative.
"Just for a while." I thought.
Just a little bit more time thenn I could plan something out and leave this life, because I knew that if I didn't find a way out of this marriage, I might just die in it.
Angel’s POVWe arrived at the door. Ace had been holding my hand the entire time as he walked in front of me. He halted abruptly and pivoted to face me."I'm not being too hard on you, My Little Wife?" "What the hell?" I pondered in my mind. Did you not see that he was a piece?“No, I assure you!” Lying, I felt tears well up in my eyes and glanced down. "Well," he murmured. “Everyone is excited to sit with you, so let's get inside now. Just keep in mind what I said, though.”He bent down to plant a kiss on my forehead. I felt shivers down my spine from his warm lips. I straightened my dress, which had risen while I was moving. We made our way through the quiet hallway to the dining hall. His family has good genes, I have to admit, as well as excellent fashion sense. I felt too casual around them."Hi, Ace!" His dad gestured towards us with a wine glass. I mean, I was essentially standing there like a pole as everyone greeted him. At last, they recalled my presence. His father gav
Anna’s POVAfter that dramatic supper, my husband Josiah and I sat side by side in the car. I sat quietly while he drove us back home. My phone beeped. Reluctantly, I reached into my handbag in the back seat to retrieve it."No!" I yelled, startling him in the process. He asked what had happened, abruptly stopping the car. I quietly placed the phone on his face. Just one week after marrying his youngest daughter off to a man she doesn't love, my father ran away to my aunt's house in Buffalo this morning. He had the opportunity to reflect on his previous life decisions while he was there, and it appeared that there was no way out. So, he committed suicide and begged for Angel not to be informed. ''How could he stoop so low? What kind of guilt is he fighting to the grave when he doesn't even want his own daughter to attend his funeral? And can I keep this hidden from my own sister?" I thought out loud."You can, and you will!" Josiah said, confiscating my phone.—---------------------
Angel’s POVI was startled out of my light sleep by my phone beeping and vibrating. I reached over to grab it from the bedside. It was an unknown number, I raised an eyebrow to wonder who it might be. I opened the phone, read the text, and smiled—it was Ace's weird sister, asking to hang out. She seemed like a lovely girl, and she even supported me when my husband was being rude to me. The only thing that worried me was that I've never had friends, so I'm not sure I'm good with people. Plus, she doesn't look like the judgemental type, so I text her back to express my interest.I thought about how I was going to handle the day as I took a long shower.Even though I defied Ace and made history last night, I doubt I'll get another chance. In my heart, I want to show him that I'm a unique individual and that he should respect me, but I'm also afraid of what could happen. Apart from his short fuse, which I have no idea what can come out of, all I know about him is his name and age!I was
Angel’s POV(At the restaurant)“Thanks for asking me out, Sarah. It feels good to know someone from the family actually gives a damn about me,” I mumbled.“It's alright love, we have to choose between losing our minds and looking out for ourselves for as long as we're in that family.” Sarah chuckled as she said. The past two hours we’d been talking about our childhoods, books, films and art. She asked me to check my passport so we could visit Switzerland together in summer. I'm excited about it! Then I remembered Ace hasn't said anything about our honeymoon, but how could he if he doesn't even look at me?Just then his brother showed up. The one who was ogling at me last night at family dinner. Sarah sighed heavily and did a toast in the air like she did at dinner. I'm guessing she does it when she knows something is about to go down. “Hello ladies!” He mumbled. His voice hadn't lost its sinister touch to it. “Heyyyy brother!” Sarah responded sarcastically, stealing a quick glanc
Ace's POVAll I could hear were my footsteps as I tiptoed cautiously down the stairs into the basement. I held on to the handrail for dear life, careful not to slip and fall. Angel was preoccupied with her whacky reality shows in the living room.“Rest in peace, partner!” I muttered in my breath as I crossed out a portrait pinned on my drawing board. It was of a man that Marco and the team just assassinated. Him and a few others on my board were linked to my parents’ untimely demise, and I had sworn to take them out one after the other. Now that I’m done with him, there's only one man left standing; their boss. The man I’m planning to put in excruciating pain before I behead mercilessly; the man because of whom I was rendered an orphan; and the man because of whom I booked myself a spot in prison in the first place.“If only your family knew all your dirty little secrets, you monster,” I hissed with my teeth clenched, glaring at Jackie Fernando's photo at the top of the board. I fe
Ace's POVI shut the door on my brother's face, then pinned Angel’s back against the very same door. My brother was trying so hard to push the door open, but I had my other hand blocking his attempts.Angel’s tiny neck was in my grip. It felt quite satisfying because that's what I practiced my whole life. She’s lost her defiance; begging for her breath, her tear glands working overtime.“I will kill you, Angel. Don't try me. Just because I was soft on you the past week, doesn't mean you’ll have your way. Got that, little wife?” I roared with my teeth clenched. She tried to speak, but all that could be heard were her groans of pain.I continued, “If you and my brother are fucking, I swear I will have your blood on my hands. I’ve killed hundreds of people before, you’ll just be another one of them. You should never long to see me angry, ever?” Angel started shaking at the mention of me killing people. She struggled letting her sobs come out, I was still blocking her windpipe. She was o
Angel’s POV“Ah!” I let out a groan as ice cold water splashed all over me. I shielded my face with my hands crossed.“Get up!” A manly voice instructed from above. The sound of an empty bottle hitting the wooden table on the bedside could be heard. Pissed, I wiped my face. I opened my eyes slowly, and I saw Ace standing and staring down at me. His hands were in his pockets wearing an expressionless face.I heaved and forced myself up, leaning my back against the damp pillow. “It's 5 a.m., you're supposed to be up, and doing the wife duties.” He snapped, and turned to walk towards the door. He stopped short of going outside, and removed his hand from the pocket. He came out with the bottle lid between his fingers, and threw it across the room.“Clean it out, little wife!” He hissed and banged close the door behind him. I could hear the echoes of his footsteps as he tiptoed down the stairs. “5 the fuck A.M!” I stressed as I threw the blankets in the air away from me.One thing abo
Ace’s POV“Yes, please tell me. Because I thought you were going to kill me this time," Angel explained. Even though I was looking away, I could feel her piercing gaze.I debated whether or not to inform her already, and opted against it. She wasn't prepared to hear any of it. She wasn't prepared to hear her twisted family's heartbreaking dark secrets. Most significantly, she wasn't ready to learn I'd been watching her since she was born. The more I thought about her family, particularly her father, the angrier I became with her. But I kept my cool.I sighed, “Some other time, not today.”“Ace,” she paused a bit, then continued; “Just tell me what I'm doing in this marriage. It feels like hell on earth each passing day. Just tell me the truth, clearly you're hiding something, that's apparently bigger than my life. What fate have you and my father decided for me? I'm losing my mind trying to come to terms with the situation I'm in, for god's sake just tell me.” She muttered with he
