CHAPTER FOUR

Adrian entered the room with the tray of soup in his hands, his gaze scanning the room, and Serena was nowhere to be found. As he walked in further, he felt a sharp pain behind his head and fell to his knees.

He saw her drop the lamppost she had used to hit him in the back of the head from the corner of his eye before fleeing the room, leaving him on his knees clutching the back of his head. 'She really shouldn't have done that,' Adrian thought as he rose to his feet to pursue her; when he reached the top of the stairs, a feral growl escaped his lips when his gaze fell on her.

Serena had reached the castle's entrance when she heard an inhumane growl come from the top of the stairs, causing her to pause for a split second as fear consumed her. But she overcame her fear by running out into the dark forest wearing nothing but a hood and shorts, her black raven hair flowing in the night, her emerald green eyes scanning the forest for the best route to escape him, then she found a narrow path leading away from the castle and her petite body rushed forward.

Serena decided to mask her scent once she was a reasonable distance away from him, but it was a futile attempt. Because no matter what she tried to mask her scent, Adrian already had her scent imprinted on his mind, and nothing could make him forget it, and also because he was an Alba lycan, his sense of smell was twice as strong as any normal black lycan.

Serena went deeper into the forest after she finished covering herself in mud, looking for a place to run because she knew she couldn't outrun him in her current state, so she decided it was best to find somewhere to hide until morning.

Adrian was still searching for Serena in the forest when he came across the Red-moon pack, he would have been seen by two male lycans if he hadn't hidden behind a tree; from their expressions, they appeared irritated. Adrian didn't want to wait long to find out why, but when the younger male spoke, it piqued his interest.

"Father, we looked everywhere, and that bitch is nowhere to be found," the younger boy said, frustratedly running his hands through his hair.

"We will find her son, she wouldn't have gone far, you will get your heir from that abomination of a lycan Serena, if we had known your current mate was barren, I would have allowed you to take her as a sideline mate," the older man said.

"How could she be barren, isn't that impossible for a lycan?" the younger boy asked, his hands running down his face in frustration.

"The pack doctors said that something went wrong during her first transformation and her womb was destroyed, leaving her barren," the older man said, his face contorted in anger.

"Will we be able to find her?" inquired the younger boy.

"I'll make sure that bitch doesn't get away," the older man said evilly as they both walked away. Adrian continued his search, wondering if Serena, his captive, was the person those men were looking for; it appears that she, like him, wants something from her, even if they still think she is an abomination.

Serena finally found a cave to hide in, so she dashed inside, finding a corner to hide in, hoping Adrian wouldn't find her until she managed to escape. Serena could feel her body weakening due to the fact that she hadn't fully healed as the moon shone brightly in the sky.

She tried to stay awake, but her body couldn't handle the stress she was putting herself through, so she fell asleep. Adrian discovered a small cave miles away from the castle that could serve as a hiding place for his captive, and as he drew closer, her scent became stronger, making him grin; she actually thought she could escape him. Shadow growled as Adrian felt his control slipping.

Adrian took her in his arms and she drew closer to him, letting out a soft sigh that made Adrian happy. So he returned them to the castle using his super-speed.

When he returned to the castle, he led her back to her room. He had put her in before, and she had managed to get herself filthy again, so he couldn't put her on any of the furniture in the room. He took Serena into the bathroom and placed her on the edge of the bath so he could prepare another bath for her.

Serena gradually regained consciousness as she studied her surroundings while Adrian was preparing the bath. She was no longer in the cave; she had returned to the castle. She looked to the side and saw him staring at her, his anger still visible in his eyes.

"You're finally awake, that was a stupid thing you did that would have gotten you killed if I hadn't stopped Shadow from taking over," Adrian said as he stared at her, waiting for her to take off her clothes and enter the bath.

"Please, please, please let me go; I won't tell anyone about you," Serena pleaded.

"You're not going to push me right now, little one." "It's taking every ounce of self control I have to keep my lycan away, so get in the bathe now if you don't want to get hurt by his hands because he's still pissed from your little stunt before," Adrian said as he tapped his long fingers on the edge of the bathe, waiting for her to comply and stop her annoying begging.

Serena sighed in defeat, knowing there was no getting away from this man, "can you leave so I can? So I can take my clothes off, and I promise you I won't try to flee," Serena said, her gaze drawn to the nearest window.

"Do you think I'm stupid enough to fall for your tricks the second time, mutt?" Adrian said as he stalked towards her, his gaze never leaving hers. Serena took steps back in fear as he approached her, his face expressionless. Her captor was now inches away from her, trapping her between himself and the bathroom wall, and she realized she was trapped.

She looked up into his now-white as snow eyes. According to what she remembered from the day she arrived, his lycan had taken over. With a swipe of his claws against her hood, she was reduced to nothing but her shorts and bra, causing her to blush slightly as his gaze fell to her exposed cleavage. Shadow's growl stopped her movement when she tried to cover herself up.

Shadow used one of his hands to hold both her arms over her head, leaving her half naked to him, as soon as she stopped moving. He leaned in, his head in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent.

"You thought you could escape us, little one," Shadow said, placing his lips close to her ear and whispering, "How naive you can be? You can't run from us little one"

Serena's heart rate increased; she was at the mercy of Adrian's erratic lycan. She was still frail and couldn't even imagine fighting him off. She saw him lean into her, causing her to close her eyes, and when his lips met the skin on her neck, she let out a soft moan, and her eyes immediately opened.

Shadow growled at the sweet sound that left her lips as he kissed her neck when she let out a soft whimper. She wasn't fighting him, she just let him kiss her; some of him was repulsed by the fact that he was attracted to her, while others wanted to keep kissing her to hear what other sounds she could make when she was pleased.

When Adrian had finally gained control, he looked at his captive, realized the situation they were in, and immediately pulled away from her. "I'm sorry for my lycan's behavior; this will not happen again; please take a bath to wash off the mud; I'll leave some clothes out for you to change into," Adrian said quickly as he exited the bathroom, leaving Serena alone. She stared at his receding figure, wondering what the fuck had just happened.

Serena went back to bed after taking a shower and changing into the clothes Adrian had left on the bed, wondering why she had just allowed a complete stranger to kiss her like that and the funny thing was she liked it and didn't want him to stop, unlike when Jackson touched her and she felt like throwing up.

What was it about him that drew her in and made her want to learn his deepest darkest secrets?
