LOGINThe Mate Bond
Lynnek stared at the blood-red message. Kill them before the next full moon. The council chamber fell into a heavy silence. "Who sent this?" she asked, looking at Miguel. General Kael answered before Miguel could. "It was nailed to our southern gate before dawn. The guard who found it said no one was there." Miguel rested both hands on the table. "This isn't a random threat." "No," Lynnek agreed. "Someone knows we're working together." She looked at the list again. There were only two names. Hers. And Miguel's. Whoever their enemy was, they wanted both of them dead. --- The meeting lasted another hour. The generals discussed border patrols, hidden routes, and possible enemies, but Lynnek couldn't shake the feeling that someone was hiding something. As everyone prepared to leave, Miguel spoke. "Lynnek, stay." The generals bowed and filed out of the chamber, leaving the two of them alone. She folded her arms. "What is it?" Miguel walked toward the window overlooking the pack. "When the rogue called you the last descendant of the Moonfang Bloodline..." He paused. "...had you truly never heard that name before?" "No." He studied her face. "You aren't lying." "I have no reason to." Miguel nodded slowly. "Then someone kept the truth from you." Before Lynnek could ask another question, the chamber doors burst open. "Alpha!" A young guard rushed inside, breathing heavily. "Elder Evelyn has collapsed!" Miguel was already moving. "Lynnek, come with me." --- They found Evelyn in the manor's garden. Several healers surrounded her. She looked pale, struggling to breathe. Miguel knelt beside her. "Grandmother." She smiled weakly. "I'm not dying, child." "You scared everyone." Her eyes shifted to Lynnek. "You..." Lynnek stepped closer. "Yes?" Evelyn reached for her hand. The moment their skin touched... A brilliant silver light erupted between them. The wind howled. The ground trembled. Lynnek gasped as images flashed through her mind. A woman with silver eyes running through a burning forest. A baby wrapped in a crimson blanket. A necklace shaped like a crescent moon. Then... Miguel. Much younger. Standing beside the same woman. The vision vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Lynnek stumbled backward. "What... was that?" The healers looked terrified. Miguel caught her before she fell. "You saw something." She nodded. "I don't understand it." Evelyn smiled faintly. "The Moon Goddess has begun revealing the truth." Miguel frowned. "What truth?" Evelyn closed her eyes. "The truth... that your destinies were never meant to be separated." Suddenly— Pain exploded through Lynnek's chest. She cried out, clutching her heart. Miguel froze. He felt it too. A sharp pull deep inside his soul. His wolf surged forward, restless and excited. Mate. The word echoed in his mind. He looked at Lynnek. She was staring back at him with the same shock. She had heard it too. For one long moment, the world around them disappeared. There was only the two of them. The bond between them pulsed like a heartbeat. Neither could deny it anymore. Miguel took one step toward her. Lynnek didn't move away. "You feel it," he said quietly. She swallowed hard. "Yes." The air between them grew warmer. Neither noticed the servants quietly backing away. Neither noticed Evelyn smiling to herself. Miguel gently brushed a loose strand of hair from Lynnek's face. His touch was careful. Almost hesitant. Lynnek's heart raced. She should have stepped away. She should have reminded herself that this was the Alpha she had promised never to trust. Instead... She found herself looking into his blue eyes. Without thinking, Miguel leaned closer. Their lips met in a brief, gentle kiss. The mate bond flared with overwhelming warmth, sending a wave of energy through both of them. When they finally pulled apart, they simply stared at each other. Neither spoke. Neither understood why the kiss had felt so... right. From the balcony above, hidden behind a curtain, a pair of green eyes watched them. Aria. Her nails dug into her palms until they bled. "No," she whispered through clenched teeth. "He's supposed to be mine." A cruel smile spread across her face. "If I can't have him..." She turned away from the window. "...then neither of you will live long enough to be together."The Alpha Who KneltThe ride back to Blackstone was quiet. No one spoke. The weight of the truth hung over them all.Lynnek wasn't Victor Lucaster's daughter. She was the only surviving heir of the Moonfang Pack.Every answer she found only raised more questions.Who betrayed her father?Who were the hunters? And why did someone call her Princess Lynnek?---Miguel watched her from across the campfire that night. She hadn't eaten. She hadn't slept. She simply stared into the flames, clutching her mother's journal.Evelyn quietly walked over and sat beside her."My child."Lynnek didn't respond."It's all right to grieve.""I'm tired."Her voice was barely above a whisper."My mother lied to me.""No."Evelyn gently shook her head."She protected you."Lynnek looked at her."There's a difference.""There is."Evelyn smiled sadly."But a mother's love often forces impossible choices."A tear escaped Lynnek's eye."I don't even know who I am anymore."Miguel stood and walked toward them.
The Truth She Never ExpectedThe chamber was silent. No one moved. No one even breathed.Lynnek's hands trembled as she stared at the letter.> "Victor Lucaster is not your father.""What..." she whispered. "This can't be true."Her eyes darted across the page, desperate to prove the words wrong.Instead, the truth only became harder to ignore. She continued reading aloud.> "My dearest Lynnek, if this letter has reached you, then the people I feared most have finally made their move."> "Everything you were told about your birth was a lie."A painful lump formed in her throat.Miguel stood beside her despite his injured shoulder."What else does it say?"Lynnek swallowed before reading on.> "Your true father was Alpha Lucien Moonfang, the last ruler of the Moonfang Pack."The room erupted in shocked whispers.Kael's eyes widened."The Moonfang Pack..."One of the Blackstone warriors stepped back."I thought they were wiped out twenty years ago."Evelyn slowly nodded."So did everyon
Blood Doesn't LieThe sound of armored boots echoed through the hidden chamber.Claudia's voice dripped with triumph."You should have stayed banished, Lynnek."Miguel immediately stepped in front of Lynnek, his sword drawn."Stay behind me."Lynnek clutched her mother's journal against her chest."I'm not leaving it.""You won't."Kael signaled the Blackstone warriors, who formed a defensive line at the foot of the stairs. The first Lucaster guards charged down.Steel clashed against steel. The narrow staircase became a battlefield.Miguel fought like the stories said he did.One swing of his sword sent a guard's weapon flying.Another strike knocked two men backward. He didn't kill them.He simply cleared the path."We're leaving," he ordered.Claudia laughed from the top of the stairs."You think it's that easy?"She stepped into view, wearing a crimson cloak. Beside her stood Aria, dressed in black leather armor, a cruel smile on her face.Aria's eyes fell on the journal."So...
The Hidden ChamberThe silver pendant felt cold in Lynnek's palm. She stared at the crescent moon carved into its center, her heart pounding."It belonged to my mother?"Evelyn nodded."I haven't seen that pendant in over twenty years."Miguel frowned."Then why was it outside our walls?"Evelyn's expression grew troubled."Because someone wants Lynnek to find the truth... or they're trying to lure her into a trap."Lynnek tightened her grip on the pendant."I don't care. I deserve to know who my mother really was."---The next morning, Miguel summoned his generals."We're leaving."General Kael looked surprised."Where to, Alpha?"Miguel glanced at Lynnek."Lucaster."The room fell silent.Lynnek blinked."You can't be serious.""Your answers are there.""My father will never tell us the truth.""I'm not going to ask him."Miguel spread an old map across the table.Beneath Lucaster Manor was a forgotten section marked with a faded symbol—a crescent moon."There are ancient tunnels b
The IntruderThe Great Hall was in chaos.Blackstone warriors blocked every entrance while servants huddled together in fear. No one spoke. No one dared move without permission.Miguel's voice cut through the silence."Search everyone."Immediately, warriors began inspecting every guest.Lynnek knelt beside the shattered goblet. The purple liquid had burned tiny holes into the stone floor."What kind of poison does that?" she whispered.Miguel crouched beside her."It's called Shadow Venom."She looked up."You know it?"He nodded grimly."It doesn't kill instantly. It destroys trust."Lynnek frowned."I don't understand.""It attacks the mate bond. Victims begin to doubt each other. They become paranoid... angry... until they eventually turn on the person they love."A chill ran through her."So someone wanted us to destroy ourselves.""Exactly."---An hour later, every servant and guest had been questioned.Nothing.The poisoner had vanished.General Kael approached Miguel."Alpha
A Dangerous PromiseThe kiss lasted only a heartbeat.Yet it felt like time itself had stopped.Lynnek was the first to step back. Her cheeks burned as she tried to steady her breathing."What... was that?"Miguel looked just as unsettled."The mate bond.""No." She shook her head. "I've heard stories about the mate bond. No one said it felt like... this."His wolf growled possessively inside him, urging him to pull her back into his arms.Instead, Miguel took a step away."We should keep our distance until we understand what's happening."Lynnek frowned."You kissed me.""I know.""And now you're telling me to stay away from you?""If I lose control of the bond, I could put you in danger."She wanted to argue, but the seriousness in his voice stopped her.---High above them, Aria watched from the balcony. Her face twisted with rage."So the rumors were true," she hissed."They're mates."Claudia stepped out from the shadows."You saw it?"Aria nodded."They kissed."Claudia's eyes n
