I started on the journey back home by dusk in tears and a heavy heart, when Derrick announced me as his mate,

I was so excited and I felt everything was just right and nothing could ever go wrong.

When the villagers started accusing me of being a source of bad luck, my only consolation was that I had a mate that cared for me and had my back and would defend me.

So when he denounced me publicly, my heart was shattered into a million pieces.

I was almost home but I didn’t want the rest to know that I had been crying. I stopped by a lake and washed my face a couple of times, when I was satisfied, I made way to our hut.

Rosetta and Carissa were the first to see me,

“Everyone Jasmine is back”, they screamed with excitement as they hugged me tightly.

“O..ka..y guys, can you let me go, you …are … choking … me” I struggled to breath as they held on to me tightly.

“We are sorry Jas, we were just excited to see you” Rosetta talked in a rush as she was excited to see me of which I was yet to
