MasukCHAPTER FOUR
Kael’s POV.
I should’ve known better than to trust Daniel with something so delicate. I told him what I wanted—no, what I needed a submissive, soft-spoken girl who’d obey me without resistance. Instead, he brought her.
That wild-eyed thing with defiance on her tongue and fire in her bones. Aria.
She stood there, trembling—but it wasn’t fear. No, it was something closer to anger. Even now, I could feel the way her presence upset the air.
That look in her eyes when she told me to apologize… I should’ve punished her for it. No one spoke to me like that, not even the elders of this pack.
Yet I couldn’t stop watching her, I remembered when Daniel came back from his journey, she was among the girls Daniel recommended for the position and I didn't give much thought to it, I accepted immediately and now I wished I didn't.
“Do something catch your tongue?* I mocked.
Her head fell down immediately, her body trembling. This was the kind of person I wanted, someone who would fear my presence, someone that my name is enough to send shivers down their spine.
But for her —it was too late. She had showed her fierce attitude and I hated that. Women shouldn't be given power, once they have that kind of power they abuse it.
“I'm sorry,” she muttered, her voice trembling with fear. “I didn't know who you were? I'm sorry,” she bowed again, her head almost reaching the floor.
I kept quiet still staring at her, something about her fascinated me so well that I couldn't help but want to know more about this little creature in my front.
I could say she is the first girl to pick my interest after so many years. Not because she was beautiful, infact she was ugly, she just had this aura I found intriguing.
I didn’t believe in love. Love was for fools who forgot power, who forgot bloodlines, responsibilities. Women were for use, for pleasure, for children. I had plenty before her—girls who lasted a day, a week at most before they begged to be sent back or broken in.
I never really cared about them.
But this one? There was something different. I could see it in her eyes, something that I know drew me closer to her and that made me furious.
Because deep down, in the cracks of my carefully sculpted self-control, I already knew she might be the first one who stayed.
“Next time, I wouldn't think twice before I separate your head from your body,” I said and walked away.
I left her in the care of the housekeeper to prepare for the wedding. There was no use in entertaining the chaos she brought.
I stormed through the manor and found Daniel talking to some of the elders. Immediately the elders saw the rage in my face, they bowed and walked away.
“You call that quiet?” I barked.
His brows furrowed. “Alpha—”
“I asked for meek, submissive and Invisible.” I stepped closer. “She called me out, Daniel.”
“I didn’t expect her to—”
“Of course you didn’t,” I snapped. “You never do.”
Daniel looked down. “Should I… return her?”
The question hit harder than I thought it would. My first instinct was to say yes. Send her back to that gutter she came from. But another part of me was already calculating. She had spirit…fire. Maybe that could be… useful.
“No,” I muttered. “I’m tired of changing girls. Let’s see how long this one lasts.”
Daniel nodded. “Understood.”
I left him without another word and made my way to the ceremonial hall. The place was silent, the air filled with the smell of burning sage and blood-root candles.
Wolves from my inner circle stood around the stone altar, heads bowed in respect.
Daniel walked behind me, his hands placed in front. “I was talking to the elders the other time, they want to remind you of your duties.”
“Duties?” I frowned. “Do they feel like I'm neglecting my duties?”
“No, you have brought in almost fifteen girls this year and no heir have been conceived.”
I turned to him with a glare. “If they want to lay a complaint next time, they should come themselves than through you.”
Daniel lips pressed into a thin line but he didn't say anything. We both knew that the elders were scared of me, so no one would dare walk up to me to challenge me.
Aria entered, draped in silver silk. She didn’t look like a bride, she looked like a sacrifice.
The priest stepped forward, beginning the ancient rites. She didn’t flinch when he cut her palm or cry when our blood mingled in the bowl.
She was completely different from the other girls. She just stared at the whole process without uttering a sound.
When the final chant was said and the flame in the basin turned black, the bond was sealed.
I looked at her, my lips curled into a faint wicked smirk but that didn't scare her, she just kept her head down.
“Welcome to Shadow Fang, wife,” I said, my voice colder than winter stone.
She looked at me then to Daniel, who gave her a reassuring smile.
“I feel we are going to have a great night,” I added, watching leave as the servants led her back to her room.
Aria POV“Aria, did you visit the hospital?”His voice hit me like thunder. My body froze beneath the duvet, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst. I sat up slowly, eyes wide, staring at the shadow of him standing in the doorway. His shoulders filled the frame, his presence heavy, demanding.I tried to form words but my throat locked.“I asked you a question.” His tone was sharp, biting, every word laced with authority. My lips parted, air coming in shallow gasps. “I… I… Kael…”“Don’t stammer,” he snapped, stepping closer, the floor groaning under his boots. His eyes burned into mine. “Answer me. Did you go to the hospital?”I clutched the blanket to my chest, the fabric twisting in my fists. My mouth opened again but the sound that came out was weak, broken. “I… I just needed—”“You disobeyed me,” he cut in, his jaw tightening. “You left without permission, you put yourself at risk. Do you realize what could have happened to you?”His words slammed into me, but the secr
Elena POVI had no intention of leaving the hallway after Kael stormed into Aria’s room. I had been walking past when I heard his voice, sharper than usual, low but breaking with the weight of something more than anger. That caught my attention immediately. Kael rarely lost control, but with her he always seemed to crack in ways that made me grind my teeth.I leaned against the wall, careful not to breathe too loud. Their voices carried easily enough through the wood of her door.“You vanish without telling me,” Kael was saying. “You come back pale as death. You argue with Elena in front of the workers. And now you refuse food. Aria, what am I supposed to think?”My lips curled into a smirk. He listed my name among her mistakes, as if her snapping at me was something worth remembering. Good. Let her temper work against her. Then her voice came, soft and trembling. “Think whatever you want. I don’t owe Elena or anyone else an explanation.”I pressed my nails into my palm to keep from
Aria POVThe sound of Kael’s boots faded down the hall, each step a drumbeat against my chest. I stayed where I was, frozen in the chair, staring at the empty space he had left behind. My hands wouldn’t stop trembling. I pressed them against my stomach as if that would steady me, but it only reminded me of what I was hiding. My wolf stirred again, calm but firm. You cannot tell him. Not yet. He isn’t ready. My throat burned. “He’s already suspicious,” I whispered under my breath. “He’s not going to stop until he finds out.”Then let him search. But don’t give him the truth. If he knows too soon, he’ll treat you like glass. He’ll treat the baby like a weapon. You know how he is.I leaned back and let my head hit the wall. I hated that she was right. Kael would lock me in this house. He would strip away the little freedom I had left, not out of cruelty but out of fear of losing me. And I couldn’t bear that.Still, the weight of lying pressed harder than ever. He had looked at me with so
Aria POVI stepped back through the gates of the pack, my heart was thundering so hard I thought the guards might hear it. The walk back from the clinic had felt endless. Every sound behind me had made me jump. Every pair of eyes in the market felt like they knew where I had gone and why.I kept my scarf over my head as I hurried across the yard. The morning had brightened, and workers were moving about, carrying trays, folding laundry, scrubbing steps. I thought maybe I could slip in quietly and no one would notice. But then I froze.Kael’s voice rang across the courtyard. Low, sharp, furious. He was speaking to one of the guards, his hands clenched behind his back, his body stiff with control.“Find her,” he was saying. “Now. I don’t care where she went. No one leaves this house without my knowledge. Do you understand me?”The guard stammered a yes and rushed off, but Kael turned at that exact moment. His eyes locked on me.My breath caught. My legs wanted to run but they wouldn’t m
Chapter 77Aria POVThe morning light slipped through the curtains and dragged me out of sleep. My eyes felt heavy but my mind wouldn’t rest. I lay still for a while listening to the quiet in the pack house. It was too quiet. Kael had left early or maybe he was avoiding me. Either way it gave me a chance to think.I pressed a hand against my stomach. My wolf stirred inside me, a reminder that I wasn’t alone anymore. The weight of that truth was almost suffocating. I had lied to him once. I had told him the baby was gone. Now I was caught between guilt and fear, between wanting to tell him everything and knowing what it would do to us both.I threw the blanket aside and sat up. My chest rose and fell quickly. I couldn’t keep lying forever. I needed to know for sure that everything was fine. The healer wasn’t an option. If she touched me she would discover the truth. So I had only one choice. I had to sneak out.I dressed quickly, nothing too flashy, just a plain dress and a scarf to hi
Chapter 76Kael’s POVI left her standing in the garden but her face stayed in my head. The way she froze when I touched her. The way her hands flew to cover herself like she was guarding something. I knew that look. It wasn’t fear of me it was fear of being found out.By the time I reached my chamber Daniel was already waiting. He had that restless energy around him like he’d been pacing. Frank walked in a few moments later carrying a bottle of liquor and three glasses. He set them down on the table without a word.I poured a drink and swallowed half of it in one go. The burn did nothing to quiet the storm in my chest.Daniel broke the silence first. “So what happened this time”I set the glass down hard enough to make it crack. “She was at training. Standing there like she belonged watching me like I was some stranger. When I asked her what she was doing she said she needed air. I pressed her and she swore she wasn’t hiding anything but I don’t believe her. She’s lying Daniel. I can
