Ketra's heart thumped against her chest as she attempted to locate another thing to snatch her attention. The allure was overwhelming and she wondered if she could get off stage without tripping.
'Calm down, please. Let's get done here. I have built this career for years and can't disappoint the people who believe in me.' Ketra urged her wolf hoping for an effective reaction.
Initially, she was affected by his absence and now with him breathing the same air as she was, she was extremely affected and she was on the brink of losing concentration which wasn't a good thing for her career.
Prime of all scents, Alpha Rain could gasp her vanilla-mint scent which overshadowed others. He decided to suppress his desire to cover her body from the sight of others and focus on her beauty and professionalism.
The designer must have had good taste to choose her as to close the show, Rain complemented in his mind, glancing at the fairy under the half-lit hall.
After countless pictures, the designer stepped forth to give a speech on his designs.
"Thank you everyone who made it here and thank you, once again for supporting Rosea. I hope everyone liked our designs this time and Rosea looks forward to working with you all." The designer appreciated and strode to approach Ketra who stood on the side.
As a model who represented their most exquisite and most expensive gown, she needed to be present till the show closes.
"Next, I would like to thank this beautiful soul for corporating with us all these years. She is not only a model but also a businesswoman and a shareholder of Roses fashion. Last but not least, she has corporates with us in creating all the designs that we showcased today. Thus, if you find them fascinating, give thumbs up to her." The designer spoke proudly and the crowd cheered.
But one thing was wrong!
The designer was putting his arm across Ketra's shoulder which made Rain's insides tighten in jealousy that he didn't even hear the man's words. Beads of sweat were forming on his forehead. His wolf was urging him to go forth and send that man flying then pick his mate and get her away from the lustful eyes of the crowd.
'Make him scram.' his wolf Carter urged but Rain shut him up.
No matter his emotions, he couldn't make a mistake approaching his mate. The stares she shot him whenever their eyes met was clouded with longing but warning as well.
As werewolves, they knew how far a bond can drive one, and giving the bond a chance to take over at this moment was never a good thing.
Suppressing the overwhelming attraction and focusing on getting a better idea of handling the situation later, Rain released a shaky breath. He was already lucky to find his mate once again and if he acted stupidly today, he bet there wouldn't be any more opportunities in the future..
Ketra bowed slightly in both directions as a sign of appreciating her supporters. She mouthed a thank you before leaving the stage to get herself a comfy outfit before leaving the premises.
Before leaving, she peeked to see that Rain was no longer in his seat and the emptiness filled her world again.
She kept herself professional even with turmoil in her mind and walked back backstage where new faces were waiting for her autograph.
As soon as she stepped backstage, she was suddenly pulled by a strong hand to a private room. She wanted to scream out of fear but her mouth was covered with another strong hand.
"Don't scream," a husky voice warned when the door was shut behind them.
"R-rain?" Ketra whispered when she recognized the voice that has been replaying in her mind since that fateful flight.
Rain didn't respond but rather pulled her into his embrace instantly. At this moment, he didn't think straight but he felt he was doing the right thing. He wasn't sure if he was pushing himself onto her or not but he knew that he wanted her in his embrace so badly.
"Please let me feel you like this for a moment, will you?" Rain pleaded and when he felt Ketra's gentle nod, he embraced her tighter, inhaling her addictive scent of vanilla-mint.
They stayed there for minutes even though Ketra didn't hug Rain back. They could both feel the sparks of their bond and it was a feeling worth creating.
"I-I gotta go," Ketra was the first to pull away and speak. No matter how much she enjoyed this, she needed to show up outside for those waiting for her.
His agent Scott would be turning the room upside down looking for her. Besides, it was suspicious how she disappeared in the middle of nowhere. Lest she didn't want to cause chaos or security check the footage and declare that she was kidnapped.
"Yeah. I mean sure. Where are you going?" Rain was at a loss for words. Their simple body touch and the sparks together with her scent of vanilla-mint had cleared and at the same time put his world together.
"My agent is waiting. There are also some new faces waiting for me." Ketra asserted in a soft voice which stirred Rain's heart into a paste.
His eyes were locked with her hazel eyes that called for him to read her soul.
Rain held Ketra's tiny and smooth hands in his and he wondered how long he can hold her like that before pulling her back to himself but first….,
"How about we step out together." Rain suggested but Ketra shook his head in denial immediately.
"I won't need any rumors and I don't feel like facing the media soon since I'm always doing my best to avoid them. I hope you understand this." Ketra voiced which made Rain understand where she was coming from.
"But I need to talk to you please. Can you create some time for us after meeting your fans? I can wait outside." When Ketra didn't respond, Rain took her silence as approval and pecked on the back of her hands before letting her go.
The Blue moon pack felt different now. The air was lighter. The tree stood still, no longer whispering warnings. Rain returned before sunrise, his fur stain with blood, dirt and ashes but his spirit clean. Victory had never tasted so bitter-sweet until... he saw her.Ketra was waiting on the steps of the pack doctor's cabin, wrapped in a showl. Her eyes reflected something only Rain could name. Home. The moment their eyes met, he shifted. She smelled so good, he dropped to his knees before her and pressed his forehead on her belly with his arms circled around his chest. How he missed this feeling of being in his mate's proximity. He would turn the world around to maintain this peace and feel this way forever."I came back." He whispered as he inhaled her addictive scent. He had missed her and he was worried about her all this time. But knowing that the man whose intention was to use her for his spells had died with them, he felt at peace."I know," she murmured, her fingers threading t
Brice tore off the remnants of his robe leaving his chest bare. It was covered in dark runes that pulsed with unholy light. His body twisted, bones cracking as the dark magic coursed through him, warping his form into something no longer human nor wolf.Rain took a step forward, his eyes narrowing. "He's merging. Dark magic with his wolf. This is what Josh warned us about." he said through gritted teeth.Josh and Greg immediately backed toward Rain and formed a triangle with the rest of the warriors circling behind them. Then Brice let out a roar. It wasn't just a battle cry. It was pain and fury and something ancient. The runes of his skin erupted in black flames and his transformation finished. His body appeared larger and his muscles had overgrown. His eyes burning red. Shadowy tendrils twisted from his back like wings that never formed."You think I will fall today?" Brice hissed. "You should have killed me before I became god."Rain's claws extended fully, his body glowing faintl
The deeper they went, the darker it grew. Even thought the sun had risen above the horizon, the cursed forest blocked out nearly all the light. Trees bent unnaturally with branches twisted like clawed hands. The entire atmosphere was strange but expected nothing less than that.“We’re almost there.” Josh told Rain when he sensed he was looking at him from the sides.“This is where he draws his circles. Blood, bones, spells, He’s been using this place for year.”“Then we burn it.” Rain said coldly. This was the only thing that would make sense in this area according to him. He would burn Brice in this area too... his generations would hardly stand a chance too.Greg crouched beside a moss covered rock, his eyes scanning the forest floor. “Over there. Look, there a symbols and they seem recent.” He caught everyone’s attention by pointing to a freshly etched circle, stained with blood, the air above it crackling with raw and unstable energy. Rain stepped forward bravely. He extended his
The night air was quiet. Too quietBeta Samuel stood atop the Eastern watch tower of the Blue moon pack, his eyes scanning the forest edge. The moonlight kissed the tops of the trees, casting eerie silver shadows, and yet his wolf stirred restlessly.A breeze swept by carrying a familiar scent of burned fur and blood magic. "They're here." he said upon sensing them. They were expecting them after the talk they had with Greg, Josh and Haylee. These three were familiar with George and Brice. They knew when they attacked, how they attacked and how they moved in groups."Alert the warriors at all borders. None gets in." Beta Samuel commanded and the warriors obeyed immediately. With the information he had and the strategy he had made with Alpha Rain earlier, none of this group was supposed to enter the Blue moon pack. Magic or power.A second later, Haylee appeared at his side, already in a crouch, her sharp sensing confirming their presence. She looked tiny and young but she was a warrio
The night air was thick with silence. The stars above the blue moon pack shimmered faintly but the tension dulled in their land. Inside the infirmary, Rain sat beside Ketra's bed, his elbows resting on his knees, his hands tangled together.A few hours ago he had a talk with her and Kathy about Alpha George and Ketra just said it was okay. He was better dead that complicating their lives. She had then went back to sleep. She was now sleeping fully . The bruises on her skin had started to fade and the doctor had said she would be fine with rest. But Rain's wolf didn't rest. Not when Brice was still breathing.A light knock tapped against the door. Rain didn't look up. "Come in." He said flatly.Josh stepped in, still limping from the earlier blow Rain had landed on him. His side was bandaged and his arm hanged stiffly, but his eyes were stable. He looked at Ketra who was sleeping briefly and looked at Alpha Rain."She's... doing better?" He asked which Rain only gave a nod. Josh hesita
The tree whipped passed Rain in a blur of green and shadow as his paws pounded the earth. Her scent was getting heavier and he chased the closeness to get to the owner. He flew above dry logs in the forest, sprinting with purpose as he went forward. And there she was, bruised, weak and slumped against a boulder. Her clothes were torn. Her lips dry and cracked but she was alive.Beside her stood Josh and Greg. Rain didn't think. He roared so loudly causing birds to scatter from the trees. Rain's wolf launched through the air like lightening, his claws colliding with Greg, sending him crashing into a tree with a sickening thud.He didn't even wait to see if he was breathing as he immediately turned to launch to Josh, fangs bared.Josh stepped back at a lightening speed dodging Rain's attack. He raised his hands, "We didn't hurt her. We..."Too late. Rain struck. A brutal swipe to Josh's chest sent him flying the log just behind him and blood gashed out of him."Rain STOP!" Her voice hit
