THANE’S POV
I quickened my pace as my climax hit me. “Yessss Thane!!!” the brunette moaned out. I removed myself from her and laid back on the bed as I tried to catch my breath. “That was so good Alpha….can we go again??” she asked as her hands moved around my body. I caught her hands before it could reach my torso and glared at her. “Get out.” I said. The smile on her face dropped suddenly as she looked at me with confusion. I was not one to get attached with women especially when I know they are just good f**ks and nothing more than that. “Why, what did I do wrong??” she asked. The kinds of people I hated the most were the dumb ones who couldn't assimilate simple statements. “Are you deaf??” I asked in irritation. “I am not..but.” “I said leave!!!!!” I thundered. She hurriedly got up from the bed, got dressed and left the room in a flash. I haven't been in a good mood for a few days now after hearing that some measly rogues killed some of my warriors some days ago. It was my sole goal to haunt them down and kill every F**king one of them. I got up from my bed as I entered the bathroom and freshened up and as soon as I came out, I heard a knock on the door. “What??” “I am sorry to disturb you Alpha but there is important information I need to share with you.” my beta said. “Come in.” He twisted the doorknob open as he walked in on my stalk naked. He nervously turned his face over to look in another direction which made me chuckle softly. “Why are you hiding your face??? Is there something you saw that you don’t have or haven’t seen before??” I asked. “No Alpha..apologies.” he said as he stood in front of me looking so uneasy. “What is the matter?? As you can see I am busy.” I said. “It’s regarding the rogue attack on the warriors….an Alpha has agreed to join hands with us so we could find the rogues and kill them.” “And who says I can’t do that by myself??” I asked as I raised my eyebrow. “No one Alpha…he sent a message that he heard about the news and suggested joining hands with this pack to take care of the rogues once and for all.” My beta said. “In other words, he is calling my pack incompetent??” “Not at all Alpha.” My blood boiled as I looked at my beta in rage. “He can shove his suggestion up his sorry ass.” I said as I dressed up. Going to another pack to join hands with them in alliance was an insult to my name. If I wanted help I would have sent for it but I can handle rogues myself without forming any alliance. “But Alpha, forming an alliance with Alpha Crane is going to yield something profitable for our pack….if I am speaking too much or out of line just stop me immediately Alpha.” My beta said. “Go on with what you were saying.” “Alpha Crane's pack is rumored to have a lot or resourceful materials...they don't have enough money but they have weapons and ancient materials..…if this pack can form an alliance with them, we are going to yield enough profits and as the saying goes, keep your friends close and enemies closer.” That was the first time my beta was making so much sense in his speech. I wanted more for my pack and even if it means me taking by force to grow mine, I would do it without a heartbeat. “Send words to them…I arrive at noon tomorrow.” I said. “Thank you Alpha…I'll do that right away.” Just as I promised, I set out to Alpha Crane's pack at noon the following day and I was not in the best of moods. And what made me even more pissed was the fact that the journey took more than two hours. “We are here Alpha.” My beta said. “This is the last time I will do this.” I said. As soon as we arrived at the pack and I was being taken to the pack house, a scent hit me. “Mate is close.” My wolf said. I excused myself as I followed through to where the scent was coming from. The scent led me into some kind of woods and I noticed there was someone sitting there. As soon as I saw her, my wolf went crazy with excitement. “Mate.” I said. I could sense the fear in her eyes as I stared at her. My eyes moved from her head down to her toes and I could sense that she was weak. Asides from being weak, she looked so frail and her skin pale and I didn't seem to sense her wolf which meant that she was a non shifter. I noticed some bruises In her body, both old and new. There was no way I, Alpha Thane could accept such a weakling as a mate. “You are such a weakling.” I said to her. I noticed she had a very blank expression on her face when I said those words. “Please don't reject me.” She said softy. “I need a Luna who is daring and fearless and not a weakling like you….if I accept you as my mate, you wouldn't even last a day in my pack.” I said as I chuckled. “Just allow me to go with you…I would do anything for you and if you want me to be your servant, I would do it within a heartbeat but please don't reject me…I would not find any other mate.” She said. If I add some kind of sympathy within me, I would have been touched by her words but I didn't have any in me. “What is your name??” I asked. “T…T..Tyla.” “I, Alpha Thane of the Tiger wood blood pack, reject you Tyla as my mate and Luna.” Suddenly, I felt a quick sharp pain in my chest as my wolf whimpered. I raised my head up high waiting for her plea for me to accept her back as I smiled. “I, Tyla Niver, accept your rejection.”THANE'S POV “Your precious mate is under my care…if you want to see her and your unborn child again, meet me at the glass hour pack before dawn tomorrow and come alone….your Father, Hyperion.”The once proud Alpha of the Pack now sat in the center of his hollowed-out soul, the weight of a kingdom's fate balanced against the heart that beat only for her as he kept on reading the note Hyperion had sent over and over again.Tyla.Gone.Taken.By the one man whose blood Thane now regretted sharing….Alpha Hyperion.Thane stood before the tall, frosted window of his chamber, his jaw clenched and his knuckles white. The echo of the message haunted him. Thane didn’t tell Rico and he didn’t tell Emmy. He didn’t tell the pack members or anyone as no one could talk him out of it. He wore silence like armor, because anything less would break him apart. He left before dawn. The path leading to the forbidden ruins was littered with shadows. Winds howled through the trees like ancient spirits
THANE'S POV I sat down in my study as the sun Shone brightly into it.I was restless and I didn't know what to do or how to calm myself. I stared at the map laid out before me..borders, routes, possible enemy territories and all of it blurred in my vision as a storm brewed in my chest. None of it mattered if the root of all this madness, Hyperion was still breathing.I suddenly mind linked Rico.“Alpha?? Is there a problem??" Rico asked.“Come to my study now." I said."I will be there right away.” He said as I ended the mind link.A few minutes later, I heard the door swing open, and Rico walked in, stiff and unreadable as usual.“You sent for me?” he asked.I nodded, motioning for him to sit, though I remained standing as my mind was too restless.“I’m thinking of going to see Hyperion,” I said plainly.Rico blinked and then he laughed. “Good one, Alpha…you almost got me.”“I’m not joking.” I said as the room fell deathly still. Rico sat up straighter, the smile vanishing from
WRITER'S POV Celeste's heart had been troubled since Bridget's visit. She couldn't understand the reason why Bridget's heart burned with so much hatred for Emmy and Tyla and especially the pack. She knew that If Bridget was ready to ask her, a new member of the pack to join her in her quest, then she must have done worse things. She hadn’t slept well in days. Too much was happening, and none of it felt safe.Celeste stood by the tall window of her chambers, watching the sky darken with gathering storm clouds. A storm was coming…in more ways than one.The door creaked open without a knock. She didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.The air shifted when he entered…Sharp…. Controlled….Cold.Aurelius, Her mate whom they haven't shared any physical or emotional contact with.“What do you want?” she asked flatly, eyes still fixed on the clouds. He didn’t answer immediately. She heard the door click shut behind him, then his footsteps moved closer. He stopped halfway across the r
TYLA'S POV The walls of the clinic room felt colder than ever. Not because the temperature dropped, but because my heart had. Everything inside me was numb, like someone had ripped out the air and replaced it with grief, confusion, and fear. I sat up slowly, hugging my knees to my chest, careful not to press too hard on my belly. Even the thought of it…a pup…made my stomach twist in a knot. Why now? Why in the middle of chaos? Why with so many enemies still out there?I buried my face into my knees and let the tears fall. I didn’t try to stop them…there was no one here to pretend for. No one to hide the truth from.“You’re being too hard on yourself,” came a soft voice in my head.I blinked in confusion. “Lyra?” I whispered. It was on rare occasions Lyra spoke to me without me speaking to her first and so I was shocked that she said something to me.“Yes, it’s me.” my wolf replied gently.“I’ve been quiet, giving you time to feel but now, I think it’s time to talk.”I wiped my
THANE'S POV The sterile scent of the pack clinic clung to my nose like smoke.I paced back and forth beside Tyla’s bed with a worried look on my face. Her face, pale against the white pillow, looked so fragile it twisted my insides.Emmy had excused himself earlier…he said he had some things to handle. I didn’t ask questions because my focus was entirely on her.My mate.My Luna.My Tyla. And now… the mother of my child.A sentence I still couldn’t wrap my head around.Pregnant.The word echoed in my head over and over. It should have made me happy, excited even but with everything going on, Hyperion breathing down our necks, Bridget scheming in the shadows, traitors hiding in plain sight, this felt more like a curse than a blessing.A soft knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in.” I said, my voice low and tight.Rico walked in, shutting the door behind him. He looked around briefly, his gaze settling on Tyla before turning to me.“You sent for me?”I nodded, rubbi
THANE'S POV My hand connected with soft skin before I even realized what was happening. The shock of it hit me the same time Tyla’s body did, falling to the floor like a delicate leaf cut from its branch.“Tyla!” I dropped to my knees beside her, the anger draining out of me like a tide leaving the shore. Blood was trickling from a cut near her forehead as her eyes were slowly closing and the worst part was that she wasn’t moving.“Damn it!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “Why did you get in the way?!”“She tried to stop you from hitting me.” Emmy said quietly behind me.I turned on him with rage still burning behind my eyes. “Don’t touch her!” I growled when he reached forward. “This is all your fault!”Emmy’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t say anything. I scooped Tyla into my arms gently, bridal style, feeling her body limp and warm against me.“Move!” I barked at Emmy, pushing past him.The hallway blurred as I rushed her to the pack clinic. I didn’t care that people were stari
