TYLA’S POV
“I, Tyla Niver, accept your rejection.” I said. I felt great pain as I accepted his rejection and it felt like the inside of me was about to be ripped apart. I looked at him and could see the shocked expression on his face and that could only mean that he wasn’t expecting me to accept the rejection. “Who do you think you are to accept my rejection???!!” he thundered in anger. “What would you have me do then??? You just insulted and rejected me and the right thing to do is to accept your rejection.” I said softly. “How dare y…” “Alpha Thane!!! Alpha Crane has been looking all over for you and he needs your attention as soon as possible.” Someone said as he interrupted my mate or rather my ex mate. From my guess, the person seemed like his aide or beta because I have never seen such a face in the park before. “As for you, do not think in that little head of yours that I am done with you….you will regret accepting my rejection.” Alpha Thane said as he walked away with his aide. The tears I've been holding back since the moment my mate rejected me started slipping down my face as I fell to the ground. I was all alone and didn’t have anyone to talk to or share my pain with and due to the fact that I wasn’t a shifter, I had no wolf. “What did I do to deserve this kind of pain moon goddess!!! Who exactly did I offend in my previous life to go through this??? Why did you bring me here only for me to go through this???!!!” I asked as I broke down in tears. After venting out and crying to my heart’s content, I stood up and walked back to the pack. As soon as I arrived, I was summoned to the pack house. At first I was reluctant to go because I had no idea what Alpha Crane wanted from me and the second reason was because I didn’t want to cross paths with Alpha Thane anymore. “Lyra, you know the consequences of disobeying the Alpha…he has sent for you twice and if he does the third time, it won’t be funny at all.” Ruthie, a fellow senior pack slave said to me. “I really do not want to go.” I said. “As if you have a choice…please do not get the rest of us into trouble because of your disobedience!!! If you don’t want to go, it’s fine…I will just go and inform the Alpha that you have refused to come so he won’t punish the rest of us.” she said as she was about to walk away. “Wait!!! I will go.” I didn’t really mention the fact that Ruthie, just like her name, was the ruthless one of all the pack slaves. She had no regard for anyone and she could get everyone in trouble just to save herself alone. “Good, now get going before he sends for you the third time.” she said as she walked away. I sighed deeply as I reluctantly walked into the pack house and when I got to the living room, I met Alpha Crane, Alpha Thane, his aide and a few pack elders seated. As I looked around, fear instantly gripped me because at that moment, it felt like I was summoned for something bad. “I sent for you twice, where were you???” Alpha Crane asked. “I…..I…w..wa…was….” “Speak properly!!!!” Alpha Crane thundered. “I…I… wasn’t available, Alpha.” I said with my head bowed. “You weren’t available??? So I have become so small before you that you have the audacity to tell me about your unavailability after I sent for you twice???” “Not at all Alpha…I swear by the moon goddess that I wasn’t available.” Suddenly, Christina walked into the living room and after greeting everyone, she went to Alpha Crane and whispered something into his ears and immediately, I had a gut feeling that she was going to get me into trouble. “Thank you, you may leave my presence.” Alpha Crane said. Christina bowed her head, looked at me with a smirk on her face and walked away. “Asides from your dirty act of disobedience, you have now added lying to it??” Alpha Crane asked as he glared at me. “I don’t understand you Alpha.” He suddenly stood up from his seat and walked closer to me and because I was extremely scared, I walked backwards slowly. “If you move an inch backwards again, I will see to it that your head is severed and thrown into the woods.” Alpha Crane threatened as I stood still almost immediately. While all of these were happening, my mate had a smirk on his face as he watched quietly. “You dare open your mouth and lie to me in the presence of my visitors and my elders??” he said. “I…I…” Before I could even utter a word, Alpha Crane hit me so hard across my face that I fell to the ground. I could have sworn I heard someone growl deeply but I assumed it was all in my imagination. “Stand up!!!!” Alpha Crane yelled. I tried standing up from the ground but I was too weak to stand due to the fact that I hadn’t eaten any proper meals for days. Hitting me that hard only activated my symptoms and my body already started giving way. After much struggling, I stood up but before I could regain myself, Alpha Crane hit me again across the face harder this time around as I fell to the ground the second time. I could suddenly taste my own blood from my lips as my vision became blurry. My mind was hazy and my body shook violently as I remained on the ground. “Is she dead???” “Leave her alone!!” “Who are you to tell me what to do???” Those were the faint noises I could hear from around me but I was too weak to figure it out and after a while, I completely welcomed darkness.THANE'S POV “Your precious mate is under my care…if you want to see her and your unborn child again, meet me at the glass hour pack before dawn tomorrow and come alone….your Father, Hyperion.”The once proud Alpha of the Pack now sat in the center of his hollowed-out soul, the weight of a kingdom's fate balanced against the heart that beat only for her as he kept on reading the note Hyperion had sent over and over again.Tyla.Gone.Taken.By the one man whose blood Thane now regretted sharing….Alpha Hyperion.Thane stood before the tall, frosted window of his chamber, his jaw clenched and his knuckles white. The echo of the message haunted him. Thane didn’t tell Rico and he didn’t tell Emmy. He didn’t tell the pack members or anyone as no one could talk him out of it. He wore silence like armor, because anything less would break him apart. He left before dawn. The path leading to the forbidden ruins was littered with shadows. Winds howled through the trees like ancient spirits
THANE'S POV I sat down in my study as the sun Shone brightly into it.I was restless and I didn't know what to do or how to calm myself. I stared at the map laid out before me..borders, routes, possible enemy territories and all of it blurred in my vision as a storm brewed in my chest. None of it mattered if the root of all this madness, Hyperion was still breathing.I suddenly mind linked Rico.“Alpha?? Is there a problem??" Rico asked.“Come to my study now." I said."I will be there right away.” He said as I ended the mind link.A few minutes later, I heard the door swing open, and Rico walked in, stiff and unreadable as usual.“You sent for me?” he asked.I nodded, motioning for him to sit, though I remained standing as my mind was too restless.“I’m thinking of going to see Hyperion,” I said plainly.Rico blinked and then he laughed. “Good one, Alpha…you almost got me.”“I’m not joking.” I said as the room fell deathly still. Rico sat up straighter, the smile vanishing from
WRITER'S POV Celeste's heart had been troubled since Bridget's visit. She couldn't understand the reason why Bridget's heart burned with so much hatred for Emmy and Tyla and especially the pack. She knew that If Bridget was ready to ask her, a new member of the pack to join her in her quest, then she must have done worse things. She hadn’t slept well in days. Too much was happening, and none of it felt safe.Celeste stood by the tall window of her chambers, watching the sky darken with gathering storm clouds. A storm was coming…in more ways than one.The door creaked open without a knock. She didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.The air shifted when he entered…Sharp…. Controlled….Cold.Aurelius, Her mate whom they haven't shared any physical or emotional contact with.“What do you want?” she asked flatly, eyes still fixed on the clouds. He didn’t answer immediately. She heard the door click shut behind him, then his footsteps moved closer. He stopped halfway across the r
TYLA'S POV The walls of the clinic room felt colder than ever. Not because the temperature dropped, but because my heart had. Everything inside me was numb, like someone had ripped out the air and replaced it with grief, confusion, and fear. I sat up slowly, hugging my knees to my chest, careful not to press too hard on my belly. Even the thought of it…a pup…made my stomach twist in a knot. Why now? Why in the middle of chaos? Why with so many enemies still out there?I buried my face into my knees and let the tears fall. I didn’t try to stop them…there was no one here to pretend for. No one to hide the truth from.“You’re being too hard on yourself,” came a soft voice in my head.I blinked in confusion. “Lyra?” I whispered. It was on rare occasions Lyra spoke to me without me speaking to her first and so I was shocked that she said something to me.“Yes, it’s me.” my wolf replied gently.“I’ve been quiet, giving you time to feel but now, I think it’s time to talk.”I wiped my
THANE'S POV The sterile scent of the pack clinic clung to my nose like smoke.I paced back and forth beside Tyla’s bed with a worried look on my face. Her face, pale against the white pillow, looked so fragile it twisted my insides.Emmy had excused himself earlier…he said he had some things to handle. I didn’t ask questions because my focus was entirely on her.My mate.My Luna.My Tyla. And now… the mother of my child.A sentence I still couldn’t wrap my head around.Pregnant.The word echoed in my head over and over. It should have made me happy, excited even but with everything going on, Hyperion breathing down our necks, Bridget scheming in the shadows, traitors hiding in plain sight, this felt more like a curse than a blessing.A soft knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in.” I said, my voice low and tight.Rico walked in, shutting the door behind him. He looked around briefly, his gaze settling on Tyla before turning to me.“You sent for me?”I nodded, rubbi
THANE'S POV My hand connected with soft skin before I even realized what was happening. The shock of it hit me the same time Tyla’s body did, falling to the floor like a delicate leaf cut from its branch.“Tyla!” I dropped to my knees beside her, the anger draining out of me like a tide leaving the shore. Blood was trickling from a cut near her forehead as her eyes were slowly closing and the worst part was that she wasn’t moving.“Damn it!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “Why did you get in the way?!”“She tried to stop you from hitting me.” Emmy said quietly behind me.I turned on him with rage still burning behind my eyes. “Don’t touch her!” I growled when he reached forward. “This is all your fault!”Emmy’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t say anything. I scooped Tyla into my arms gently, bridal style, feeling her body limp and warm against me.“Move!” I barked at Emmy, pushing past him.The hallway blurred as I rushed her to the pack clinic. I didn’t care that people were stari
