CHAPTER 20: KISSING AND EXERCISING

DIONNAH'S POV

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling thirsty. I normally kept a bottle of water on my nightstand but because of the Stella issue, I forgot.

I headed downstairs and into the kitchen to grab the water bottle. As I exited I saw a beam of light down the hall. Oh lord, who forgot to turn the light off? Maybe it was Jon or Mike because the light was coming from the home gym Jon made out of the guest bedroom downstairs.

I strolled to the gym and peeked inside.

My heart slammed against my chest when I saw Mike doing sit-ups. His body glistened with sweat and his muscles bulged and flexed as he moved. He was counting. I was so mesmerized by his motion that I didn't even realize I started counting in my head with him. Thirty-five, thirty-six, thirty-seven, thirty-eight, thirty-nine, he stopped and jolted his eyes to where I was standing.

Forty, I heard myself say. Oh God, I was busted. I didn't realize I started counting out loud and he heard me.
