OLD WOUNDS.

“Woah! Wait, let me get this straight… Someone sent you this email this morning, and you thought it was me?” Tyler asked. I collapsed on the nearest chair weakly… thoughts running through my head.

“Yes” I groaned Weakly. I didn’t need a psychologist to know he wasn’t the one. Besides he isn’t that smart to pretend.

“Why would you think that ?” He rolled his eyes, but I wasn’t in my mood for our exchange of words.

“because of Eleanor, You said you had dirt on me… I thought it was you” I answered weakly.

“Oh” He said suddenly.

“So What are you going to do about it, I don’t think that picture will help your reputation at all, worse I don’t think your Dad would be pleased” Tyler added.

“I don’t know “ I said shuffling my hair in confusion, where do I even start from?.

“Well, not my problem” Tyler said nonchalantly tossing the book back to me. Selfish motherfucker.

“It will Tarnish Oakdale high too, it could ruin your teams chance in the league “ I revealed, “and my scholarship to Harvard”.

He stopped abruptly, obviously because of the Leagues since Basketball was the only thing he cared about.

“ Why don’t you tell your Nerdy friends to help you find the perprietors since your Predicament would affect them too from getting their scholarships” He said Utterly humbled by the fact their participation was affected.

“I haven’t come out to them yet, plus One of them is very Homophobic” I revealed, Taking the book back to the shelf.

“Just once in my life I have been given the opportunity to prove to my father that Basketball wasn’t just a sport to me but my whole life, you show up and try to ruin it” He seethe his teeth in anger.

“It’s not deliberate and I wish it was, but it isn’t , besides my team and I got you all that spot in the leagues because firstly you guys did not qualify” I replied, and he sighed in defeat. A noise coming from outside interrupted us.

“Master Asher, Tyler, your parents need you “ A maid called from outside and we strutted out of the library to the sitting room.

It was Time for the Trevors to go, Mum, Dad and I escorted them to their BMW.

“We’ll be looking forward to another wonderful visit Senator” Mum said cheekily.

“Sure, That can be arranged” Mr. Trevor replied.

“I really enjoyed the meal “ Mrs. Trevor Complimented Mum who blushed in response.

Tyler’s Dad turned to Dad. “It was fun meeting after all these years Benedict Miguel” He said.

“Ditto” Dad said, Dad never said that before. they laughed heartily, like it reminded them of something… but I didn’t care, I kept stealing glances at Tyler, He looked worried. I searched my brain wondering who the culprit could be.

“Tyler would start his Tutorials on Calculus and government tomorrow, Tutor Asher… I send my driver to drop him off after classes” Mr. Trevor said.

“You’re not being serious Dad” Tyler hissed Slamming the door of the Car shut in anger.

“Honey, you know he has training in the evening too” Mrs. Trevor said calmly.

“He’ll learn to manage his time with school work and games” He said dryly. We waved at them as their BMW sped off across the street.

“I just hope a little bit of Tyler would rub of on Asher” Dad said sounding in Admiration of Asher. But I didn’t care, I had to think fast.

Whoever sent this was a the party or had paid to get it from someone at the party… everything still boiled down to the party. In my room I brought out my phone and after much contemplation I summoned courage and dialed a number, it rang and few minutes later someone picked.

“Hello” A familiar icy Deep guttural voice said from the other side, My heart ached beating so loud I swear I could hear it.

I swallowed, forcing words from my mouth but they wouldn’t come. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead as I struggled to speak.

“Sean” I managed to whisper.

“What do you want Asher?” He asked Rudely. Our love had turned sour years ago and it was the reason I was in this mess.

Revisiting the past. Asher’s grip on his phone tightened impulsively. The phone seemed heavier than usual, and his heart pounded so loud he swore Sean could hear it through the line. “Hello.” Sean’s deep velvet voice called out again. “H..hey Sean, it’s Asher,” he stammered nervously. “I know,” Sean replied nonchalantly, as if irritated by the mere sound of Asher’s voice. Asher too wasn’t spared; he also felt hurt hearing the voice that used to call out to him lovingly and teasingly sound so cold and emotionless. Asher was the reason they broke up. It was a messy one that left Asher in a very bad state—he even got a C for the first time. Sean was his first love and his first heartbreak too. He had been too ashamed to admit their relationship and denied him countless times. The straw that broke the camel’s back occurred when he denied Sean openly and even avoided him after one of his church members asked if he was friends with Sean—knowing his nature—and Asher had replied with, “

HOVERING SINSI paced around my room, still holding on to my phone with sweaty palms. The photo on the screen felt unreal… It was a picture of me and my ex sitting on the couch shirtless, with his hands inside my shorts.I recognised the scene. It was at the Sterling’s house party back when we were in Tennessee. I had lied to Dad that we had a group assignment, and Mum had permitted me to sleep over. For real, past sins do haunt.“Who could have taken this picture?” I thought aloud. And Why?I was very cool with everyone in my old school, and the Sterling triplets were either gay or bi… They’d never permit or allow photos like this to be aired, let alone taken…“Cariño, our visitors are here, come join us at the table,” Mum called out.“Coming, Mum,” I answered, tossing my phone on the bed. I snatched my glasses, arranging my curly hair briefly before walking into the dining room.As I stepped in, I froze as my eyes met a very familiar pair of brown-hazel eyes. Tyler sat beside Dad. O

UNDER THE VEILSunday came very fast, and as the choir sang, I sat at my organ playing alongside them. Afterwards, Dad, in his white tuxedo, mounted the altar and began talking about the importance of holiness, how we were all expected to be Christ-like. I envied Dad a little… he was a bold, outspoken man, unlike me. I was more like my mum: quiet and shy. After the service, I watched our members greet him, bowing their heads as if my Dad was Jesus himself… He looked so righteous, so sinless… but everyone had flaws, didn’t they? Even though it didn’t appear so.I had caught a scent of Molly once from his drawers… Mum was practically clueless, but I could recognise that smell… especially after sniffing it once when my best friend in Tennessee brought them to our teens’ camp.Even Mum wasn’t a saint. Back at Massachusetts, Sir John, our very rich member, was very fond of her… it was questionable, especially after I stumbled upon their old texts.Everyone had a flaw, but mine, if exposed,
