I heave the backpack onto my side and roll both bags to the elevator of the packhouse. On the first floor, an Omega runs over to me and takes my bags.
“Is my car ready?” I asked him.
“Yes Erica, shining like a diamond, fully loaded with snacks and blankets,” he grinned. “Liza made sure you won’t starve on your way.”
“The Beta organized a full tank and a maintenance checkup for the entire car. All good,” he assured me.
Once again, I feel the love for my pack. I’m so proud of our legacy. All wolves here are treated with respect regardless of their rank.
Omegas are supposed to be the weakest of a werewolf pack. In most packs, they’re treated badly, being abused and enslaved. But my strong Alpha-dad ensured the safety of everyone here. No one is discriminated against or abused in this pack because we function as a big family where each member holds value. We are a chain that keeps this pack running and guarantees our safety.
Discrimination is punished severely; my Alpha made sure of that by law. Also, all kinds of sexual orientation are welcome at the Moonlight pack. Not that you’ll find a lot of gays or transgender people here, but it is widely known within the werewolf community that they are accepted with open arms at Moonlight Pack.
All well, so now I stand here in the hallway, knocking on the office door of Alpha Florian.
“Enter!!” the impressive voice of my Alpha sounded.
He already knew that it was me knocking. Of course, he’d sensed my presence. Werewolves have an advanced sense of smell, and each one of us has a distinct scent.
“Alpha, the time has come for me to leave,” I voiced out, excited.
A low growl can be heard from the desk in front of me. No, the Alpha is also supportive but yet not very happy with me traveling on my own. We have discussed this several times. I’m a highly experienced and well-trained warrior.
After the Alpha and Luna adopted me at the age of ten, they immediately began training me. Surprisingly, I appeared to be very talented, and now I’m a pro in martial arts. Even the Beta has a hard time getting me down. Only the Alpha himself is a match for me.
Alpha still struggles with the idea of me traveling alone without guards. But given how protective he is of me, I’m pretty sure he’ll send some warriors to secretly keep an eye on me. After lengthy deliberations earlier, we were able to come to an agreement whereby Alpha would consistently track my location and whereabouts.
‘Guess I’ll never grow up,’ I mentally noted.
“Erica, don’t forget the conditions we agreed upon for your leaving,” Alpha started his lecture.
I bow my head and roll my eyes. Here he goes again. I’m twenty-four, for God’s sake.
“Contact me or your mother every five hours, no stopping for whatever or whoever along the way, don't converse with strangers, keep your car locked at all times, and have GPS on," he summarized while peering above his reading glasses. Impatiently, I fiddle with my fingers. We’ve been over this several times before.
My Luna-mom, Adel, senses my mood and tries to soften the tone of her mate. “Sweetie, we deeply care about you. We want to make sure not a single hair on your beautiful head is harmed,” she soothed.
“Please, take our feelings into consideration. What will we explain to the pack if they ask us about your doings and we can’t update them? I may lose my position at once,” the Alpha asserted.
That does it!!
I jumped out of my seat and ran to my Alpha. Luna stood up and joined us in a loving family hug. Tears kept running from my eyes as I wrapped my arms around the two most wonderful people on earth, who saved me when I needed them the most.
No tricky stepmom here. The Luna loves me like her own pup; she has always been there for me. The Alpha filled the fatherly role in my life perfectly. He led by example, both as an Alpha and mate to the Luna. Never one word of disappointment or judgment, always there with good advice. Two strong personalities that contributed to who I am today, the woman that I became.
I’m so blessed.
“Thank you both for what you’ve done for me,” I acknowledged them through tears. "I am forever indebted to you, and I will never forget you. When I find my mate, I promise that we will come back to visit.”
"No, my child. No," Alpha hurried to assure me. "We did what everyone would have done. You're so easy to love and never give us a moment of regret. There are no debts here." Luna aggressively nodded, emphasizing her mate's words.
“You’re always welcome here, whether you find him or not. We want you to keep that in mind,” Luna urged. “Your room will always be tidy, waiting for you, whenever you want to use it or not.”
Thank you, Moon Goddess, for placing me in the arms of these two wonderful people. They embody the true meaning of love.
Still with our arms wrapped around each other’s waists, with me in the middle, we start walking toward the entrance of the packhouse.
My eyes snapped wide open when we arrived at the porch. There is a small crowd standing there; many pack members have walked out to send me off. I’m a crying mess right now. What have I done to deserve so much love!
This pack is beyond awesome. They are waving to me, throwing kisses my way, and sending good wishes. The Alpha and Luna escort me to the car where Ezra and Richel are waiting. The redness of my friend's eyes suggests that she has cried her heart out but tries to manage a smile despite my tears.
"Erica, will I ever see you again?" she stammered. "Will you forget about me and our friendship?"
Richel holds his mate in his arms, trying to console her.
“Babe, don’t stress yourself. The friendship between you and Erica is sealed in heaven. If she doesn’t come, we’ll go meet her,” he promised her. I cast him a grateful nod. Then I took out the necklace my parents gifted me on my first birthday. I know Ezra has one too.
"Ezra, this necklace will be the symbol of our bond of friendship," I pleaded with her. "We were born on the same day, at the exact same time, in the very same delivery room. We are inseparable." As soon as she heard these words and saw my sincerity reflected in my eyes, a big smile lit up her face.
“ERICA,” she yelled and yanked me into a bear hug. “Here is mine. I wanted to do the same thing. Goddess! What a coincidence!” She placed her necklace on me as I put mine on her. We fell onto our knees, hugging each other.
Moon Goddess, I’ll never stop thanking you for all the blessings you showered upon me.
The Alpha and Luna helped us back on our feet again, leading me to the waiting car. And when we neared the vehicle, my eyes widened like saucers...
"Prince, Princess, your rooms are ready," the Royal Secretary informed us as he saw me yawn. "Xena has already retired, although I think she's on the phone with her mate. There's nothing but giggling coming from her apartment."We laughed at this remark and followed the Secretary until we reached a pair of double doors."This is the Prince's suite," the Secretary explained. "I will take the Princess to another one on a higher floor. The plan is for you to move in tomorrow after the Acceptance Ceremony.""Absolutely not!" Johnston objected. The Secretary looked at us bewildered. "But...""Don't worry, Secretary. We're used to being together. It has never been any different. I wouldn't be able to sleep if she weren't nearby," Johnston reassured him.The Secretary shrugged, wished us a good night, and left.As we stepped inside, we couldn't believe the luxury that greeted us. The sitting room alone was as big as an entire floor of the packhouse in Moon Light. The décor was extravagant an
Erica’s POVAs I looked out of the hatch of the Royal Jet, I saw a large number of people waiting. Wolves had come from far and wide to the Kingdom to see the long-lost Prince with their own eyes and perhaps get a handshake. It was overwhelming; Johnston clearly still had to get used to this turnaround in his life.Ironically, it was expected that I would be the one to emerge renewed from this search for my true mate. As the Alpha female, everyone assumed that my mate would be an Alpha's son and that I would now be the Luna in some pack.In the end, both Johnston and I became richer in all aspects from this trip.He is the Crown Prince of the Royal Kingdom of Werewolves now, and I’m his fated mate. Yes, fated, not chosen. That was revealed some hours ago, thanks to Xena’s abilities to lift the curse of the Black witches on our Lycan wolves. We now knew that we were the pups of the Queen and her best friend. The two had agreed to mate us as soon as we were of age. But rebellion broke o
Future Alpha Marco’s POVThis woman is going to be the death of me!I followed her into the nearby forest where she had run after the King had dismissed her. She was furious, her aura bursting with hot energy. I feared that if I got too close, I might get burned by her anger.“Jannel!” I called out impatiently in my Alpha tone.Although she was a Lycan with higher capabilities than I, the mate bond made her sensitive to me. Our wolves had accepted each other, but it was only Jannel who resisted, driven by her ambitions. Despite her superior strength and abilities, the bond we shared created an undeniable connection between us, one that she struggled to ignore. Her aspirations were clouding her judgment at the moment, but I knew that as my Luna, she would be able to use her remarkable skills to elevate our pack to unprecedented heights.Jannel was ambitious, her sights set on the grandeur of the Royal Kingdom. She dreamed of power and influence, of making a name for herself beyond the
"Alpha Florien!""Daddy! Mom!"Erica ran to her parents and hugged them tightly. A sob of joy escaped her as she deeply inhaled their familiar scent. Never before had she needed their comforting warmth as she did now. She knew that as soon as they were near, everything would be alright. She had nothing more to fear.Johnston walked to his Alpha and shook his hand with a relieved grin."I knew I had to come. When you told me the Royals were nearby, I felt that the moment of truth had arrived," Alpha Florien stated before he turned to the Royal couple at the head of the table. After Erica greeted her friends exuberantly, the newcomers approached the Royals with their Alpha and Luna as well."My King, please accept our greetings," Alpha Florien showed respect for the King. All four Moon Light members made a slight bow to the Royal couple."Alpha Florien, I am forever grateful to you for keeping my son safe in your pack. I am indebted to you forever," the King stated gratefully as he stoo
Erica's face twisted in shock, and I could sense her internal struggle. Her eyes darted between me and the Queen, disbelief written all over her beautiful features."This is ridiculous!" Erica finally burst out, her voice quivering with anger. "You can't expect us to just end things over some outdated agreement. Our bond is genuine, our love is real!"Her voice echoed in the room, the raw intensity of her emotions filling the air. I could see the fire in her eyes, a blazing defiance that I deeply admired. This was the woman I loved, fierce and unyielding, unwilling to bend to an unjust decree. The Queen’s eyes softened somewhat, yet she stayed resolute. There was a flash of sympathy, I could see the internal conflict she faced in enforcing this archaic promise."I understand how you feel, Erica, but this arrangement was established at birth. It's a question of duty and honor," she stated, her voice firm yet gentle.Erica's hands clenched into fists in her lap, her nails digging into h
Johnston’s Point of ViewAs we entered the conference room, we encountered two middle-aged women along with several men.At the head of the expansive table sat a couple I immediately identified as the King and Queen. Their commanding presence was palpable, underscored by their luxurious royal garments. As we approached closer to Erica, she and I both offered a subtle bow in respect.“Greetings to the King and Queen,” we said in unison.I sensed a change in the atmosphere; the room seemed electrified. As we raised our heads, I saw that the Queen's eyes glistened with tears, and she quietly sniffled while trying to keep her composure intact. Her gaze locked on mine, revealing just enough of a crack in her regal demeanor to expose a deep vulnerability beneath it all. Watching her fight back tears as she sought to connect with my wolf on an innate, almost primal level was both heartwarming and overpowering. However, Tax was merely a Gamma wolf and had to submit to the authority of the Lyc
