Accidental Alpha’s Bride

Chapter Three

(Grand-Pa)

Angel’s POV

Everything was moving too fast in my opinion. Hours ago I was cheated on and left my wedding and my friends called me pleading that I reconsider and forgive him with the saying. “It rains everywhere dear, Angel. We sacrifice for what we want.”

And hours later a pink diamond was blinking on my finger. A contracted marriage was drawn, signed, and sealed for just a year.

“Shall we?” Salvatore's voice broke me from my thoughts back to reality. The black limousine sent to pick us up from the church stopped at a really large building that I’ll describe as paradise on earth.

Is he royalty or some zillionaire? Someone willing to pay $100 million for a contracted marriage living in such a house won’t be a big deal.

“Sure.”

He came out and stretched forth his hands which I took as he led me through the front gate. My mouth fell open with each twist and turn of the enormous building.

He stopped at a door and twisted the doorknob and on getting inside a middle-aged woman was standing upright waiting for us, the minute she saw us she bowed slightly.

“Good evening Master and to you Madam.”

I nodded in return. My throat is too dry to respond.

“Her name is Penelope she’ll cater to your needs and don’t forget you have three hours to get ready.” Salvatore handed me over and took his leave.

I must give him that. He’s calculated and coordinated.

“Welcome, ma’am your bath is ready as we speak. For your meal, the chefs are getting them ready and your clothes are selected and neatly kept in the dressing room. The room temperature will be warm once you take your hot bath. Shall we mi-lady?”

She led me to a large bathroom, the biggest eyes I’ve ever had the honor of seeing, the gigantic mirrors, the large bathtub warm and mixed with rich oils.

“If you need anything, do well to ring the bell.” She bowed without waiting for my response and left probably to check the meal.

Without wasting time the wedding apparel was peeled off my skin. My naked body went underneath the bubbling water and without wasting time washed over the sweat, tears, and makeup. The water was relaxing and the rich herbs were relieving the stress and pain in my limbs and feet.

After a much-needed bath, I slipped on the bathroom ropes and headed back to the large bedroom. This time I was more aware of my surroundings. The room screamed luxury. How rich was this man? My eyes caught the large meal on the table. Every vegetable, fruit, juice, spaghetti, chicken and some salad were kept followed by a white paper.

My fingers shakily picked it from the tray and it read;

Eat up we have 1 hour to make it to the hospital,

Salvatore.”

“Yes, boss.”

****************

The meal went well and fast forward. The middle-aged woman helped me into a beautiful blue sequin long flowing gown, pearl earrings, and necklace white heels and rolled my hair into nice curls.

While at that I sipped very hot cinnamon tea to relax after the large meal.

Knock.

“Aren’t you ready yet?” His angry voice boomed from the door as he walked in. He had a clean shave, his hair highly moisturized.

Our eyes locked.

What the fuck?

Those blue eyes.

Hard strong jawline.

His arms flexed under his black suit.

He was a walking Greek god.

“I need to fix Madam’s…”

“Better address her as my wife secondly there’s nothing left to fix. She's beautiful enough this lazy service shouldn’t be repeated next time or you kiss this job goodbye.” He barked his anger getting the best of him.

Salvatore seems pretty short-tempered.

“I… I’m so..rry Master.” She stutters in fear.

“Salva….. Honey, it isn’t her fault I made her delay by getting me a cup of cinnamon tea for my throat and other minor errands. Take your anger on me instead I apologize.” I interjected.

His eyes relaxed, “No you don’t have to apologize and I can’t be mad at you for any reason let’s hurry Grandpa is waiting.”

He took me by the arm and led me to his sports car and we drove to the hospital.

We arrived at The First City Hospital and following behind my husband’s lead he took me to a private ward.

He hands me a mobile phone.

“Wait, I'll indicate when you should come in, understand?”

“Alright.”

Salvatore walked in and I could hear little voices which I could recognize belonging to him and a rather frail voice- his grandpa?

What if he’s lying and this is some plot? It’s not every day a woman walks into a church and gets offered millions to get married. It sounds too good to be true.

A beep came on the phone with the message. Remember to smile, say very little, and be genuine. Come in.

I took a hard breath, said a little prayer, pushed the door of the ward open, and walked in. My gaze fell on an old man propped by a pillow a few meters away with an oxygen tube on his nose and Salvatore seated closely holding his hands.

The picture broke my heart.

I’d longed for a family but never did this occur to me watching a family member on the verge of death was this traumatic. How bad is he feeling?

“Is this her?” The old man managed to say.

My lips spread open with a wide smile. “Good morning sir. My husband has told me a lot about you, how are you feeling?”

“Yes, she’s my wife. Sorry for keeping her away from the family. We had a small wedding months ago and she had to hurriedly fly into the country cause you wanted to see her.” The lies rolled out of his tongue swiftly like he didn't utter a single rehearsed speech.

“Good morning you’re so beautiful.” Grandpa returned the smile stretching his hands towards my direction which I took. The resemblance between him and Salvatore was evident.

He took my palm and kissed it. “I feel so much better that Salvatore wasn’t lying to the family that he had a bride and would bring her when it was time. I like you already and I want you to promise me one thing can you?”

“Y-yes..”

“Promise me you will always be with Salvatore. I know my grandson can be arrogant, short-tempered, and acts before he thinks. But he has a good heart and he loves and protects those close to him. Promise me on this day you’ll always be by his side in times of trouble and you’ll make him a happy man forever.” He pleaded.

Shock.

Hell, I can’t do this any longer.

Why didn’t I think this thoroughly before accepting Salvatore’s proposal?

The poor man thinks this marriage is real and he wants me to promise a union that has just a year before we are separated after the baby. I’ve never felt the worst of myself until this very day. Guilt of leaving my child just the same way I was born and dumped at the orphanage and returned from different foster homes either they were getting divorced or they were tired of me was just the same way I was about to sell my child for money but what good would holding onto a baby do.

I’m incapable of taking care of it like Salvatore would or the family he has. The thought of my child living in luxury and surrounded by love made my heart grow with warmth at least I wasn’t making a wrong decision.

“Uhmnn.. Grandpa, she's tired, flew over a 16 hour journey.” Salvatore butted in to save me sensing my distress.

“She has so much time to rest but today’s the first time I’ve ever seen you with another woman after the last who destroyed you. I can’t get over the fact you finally healed and looking forward to the future. You have great eyes, and your wife is beautiful, feminine, and exudes so much love and kindness. I can see it in her eyes to keep her close to you forever. I am happy to have you as my daughter-in-law and my daughter.” He says with a smile.

For the very first time. Someone called me his daughter.

A tear slipped from my tear ducts and I hugged him. “Yes I promise Father I will always be by his side in good and in bad times you have my word and be rest assured I’ll work on his excesses. But please don’t talk about dying.” More tears slipped down my cheek. The tears came freely.

A hand rubbed my back softly. “Calm down sweetheart.”

“What’s your name?”

“A-Angel.”

“You’re truly an Angel my daughter and don’t waste your tears crying on me, I’m a fulfilled man and I have nothing to cry for but today I’m entrusting so much to you.”

He feebly picks a pen close to his drawer and a blank piece of paper writes a code onto it and presses it into my palm. “This is my little wedding gift.”

“No father, I don't deserve anything more than your health getting better. I’d love to play golf with you and take your favorite evening walk with you in the garden.”

“Salvatore must have told you a lot about me. Indeed I’m impressed but sadly I can’t play golf anymore. Remember what I’ve said, don't fail me.” He pecked my forehead and feebly wiped the tears on my cheek and his breathing became labored.

“Sweetheart Grandpa can’t talk for too long, he needs his rest.”

A handsome looking doctor walked in.

“Glad you’re here on time.”

“Mr. Russell can be discharged later today. He needs to take his meds regularly and a live -in nurse will be administered to him and remember he needs more relaxation, love and peace than anything to aid him live longer.” The doctor counseled.

“Yes doctor,”

~

Mr. Russell, who happens to be Salvatore’s Grandpa, wasn't just the leading owner of Greenwood companies and the founding owner of Power Hub, the top five leading companies of global power in the world. All this I saw on the late evening news with a prime picture of Salvatore’s Grandpa and the news broadcaster congratulating him on getting better after a brief heart attack. I got to know where Salvatore stood and so much more.

We waited patiently till the exquisite limousines came to pick him which we followed and with the talks to allow him recuperate better as the doctor advised.

The limousine stopped at a huge mansion and if Salvatore’s house was beautiful this was 20x larger, more expensive and larger than any house I’ve seen.

A glamorous woman who by looks must be fifty by age but wealth and pampering made her look much younger, her red velvet knee gown with silver earrings and a blue shiny neckpiece accentuated her beautiful skin she came forward followed by an elegant young lady who dressed to kill following behind.

“Salvatore,”

She kissed his both cheeks and engulfed him into a nice hug before disengaging and went to grandpa to pull him into a comforting hug while I watched aside amazed at their level of family bond.

The young lady did the same and quickly turned around and spotted me and cast a disgusted look.

“Who’s she?” Her question came with a derogatory manner which also meant what’s she doing here silly commoner.

“Forgive me for the late introduction. This is my wife Angel Salvatore and she’s pleased to see you. Mother, this is my wife and dear only sister, she's your only sister in law?”

“Nice to meet you all.” I said with a full smile exposing all my teeth and protruding my hand for a warm handshake but his sister eyed me contemptuously.

“What’s her family name? What does she do for a living? What’s her net worth? Is her family on the Forbes list?” She asked me, casting a dangerous glare in my direction.

“Erica!”

“What? Why are you screaming it isn’t my fault you’re involved with gold diggers.” She clicked her tongue arrogantly and I got where she was driving at.

“Hello dear you have a fantastic name for a beautiful bride like you. Can you do us the honor of coming into our humble home? The table is set, let's have dinner.” Salvatore’s mother took my hands with a warm smile leading me into the mansion. This house was beyond humble. Was she kidding?

It was electrifying and I was scared of even sitting on the gold plated chairs at the long hall masked as dining. It was too large enough to host a community of hungry people.

All kinds of mouth watering meals, proteins and wines were served at the long table. The servants dished the meals and quickly left leaving us to our meals and the silence ensued as we quiet down on the meal having a full fill before any conversation.

Grandpa was later taken to his room by the live-in nurse who fed him and wiped his lips and bade everyone a goodnight leaving Salvatore and I alone with the terrifying gaze of his sister and the inquisitive look of his mother.

“So tell me Angel what’s the attraction to my son?” His mother asked.

“What?”

“Ugh… we..fell in love…”

Gosh I had no idea what to say. Salvatore didn’t tell what to say when we met his mother and with his sister it’s hard convincing that one.

“How did you meet? When and what’s your college degree, places you have worked? Why have a secret marriage to a man you have never met in his family? Isn't that too desperate? Are you willing to lose common sense because you know he’s Salvatore Vinci Souza, the heir of Greenwood Global corporations?” His sister butted in picking the table knife and spreading jam on a slice of wheat bread.

Her hurtful gaze fixated on my face.

I'm stuck.

My sister had no right sending those lame questions to my wife even though the marriage is for a contracted period of time there’s no reason confronting her for what she knows nothing about. I’m no longer in love, which is my idea to adopt a contract marriage, so why this stupid air of authority?I quickly stepped up. “Sweetheart you must be tired, you had a long day, let's retire for the night?” I placed my hands on Angel’s and could feel how nervous she truly is. It hurts me to put her through such a difficult situation. “So soon, Son?” Mother got up abruptly looking hurt. “My wife needs the rest. She barely had enough rest being worried over Grandpa, and I’m glad he’s getting better.”

Good thing no one was here else they’ll be scared to death. Shit. A wedding was pissing me off and what pissed me further was the women were too emotional. The no-strings-attached condition had them in their feelings. This is the 21st century not everyone buys the idea of getting married. Happily Ever Married is for losers. Real Men don’t love. “She said she can’t part with her child after a year. Women are emotional beings.
