Twenty Three

"Hey, where's Seth?" Mrs. Allen asked, looking behind Isabella.

"Oh. He's…paying for the things we bought," Isabella lied smoothly.

"Let me go inside too then. I want to pay for the things I bought for my grandchild." The older woman said.

Isabella shrugged as she watched the woman move away. Once she was completely alone, she held a hand over her chest.

"I can't believe I almost allowed that man to manipulate me into giving in to his request. I mean, if I hadn't gotten out of there, I would have said yes to his request." She told herself. She placed the back of her hand on her forehead. "Something must be wrong with me today." She nodded her head.

She wished that she could call her best friend, Anna, and explain everything to the other woman but she knew that she couldn't do that since she was sure that her best friend would be angry with her for leaving without telling her where she was off too.

Even if the other woman wasn't angry because she took off without a word, she was sure
