Chapter 10 - She moved on already

Her lips playfully moved in sync as she entered the home and hung her keys before walking towards Selena.

The happier atmosphere around them lightened when Camilla hugged her from behind, resting her head in the crook of her neck.

"My Darling!"

"Welcome back, sweetheart."

Her eyes fell on the TV screen as she made an annoyed face. "AGaIn? Did you only watch Fashion shows? I don't even understand a thing here."

She broke the hug and sat beside her, spreading her legs all over the couch. "Lol, you just don't understand how interesting fashion shows are? See, her dress looks like art." She pointed on a model's dress while she scoffed. "What's with that? It seems normal to me."

"See, those perfect curves in the bottom make the dress look so glamorous on her."

"You and your fashion knowledge, stay away from me. Why aren't you in the fashion industry, Selena? You're better there."

"Lol! It's far away from my imagination. I better first pay my pending debt to Shawn."

"Anyway, I brought something good for you." She took out a few beer cans from the plastic bag hanging around her hand. "Here, one for you."

Amazed, Selena quickly opened the can and sipped beer. "Chilling one! I needed it after a tiring first day of office."

"I know!"

Holding cans, they were enjoying and taking breaks from a struggling life. Adulthood brought so many responsibilities that we forgot the enjoyment needed in life. Sometimes a few moments with your best friend could refresh you once again. It keeps you away from loneliness.

Both were resting in a pleasure that a funny thought jumped in Selena's mind.

She glanced at Camila with a teasing tone that resembled her voice.

"By the way, who was the new customer? Hmm? Was he handsome?"

The moment of today brought a crazy smile to her face. The one when someone asked you about your crush, and you nodded slightly, hiding your glowing blush on the cheeks.

"He... He was not just handsome but a whole definition of perfection. His long eyelashes, moving when he blinked, sharp jawline, and a clear glowing face. He was just speechless. His mellow lips formed a cute pout when he tried to act serious. His eyes were so intense that you can lose yourself in them."

She described him like a writer describing her ideal Male lead. His fresh looks brought a sensation to her heart, totally as if she fell for him at one glance. Could it be her love at first sight? Could there be a spark in the story between her and her ideal perfectionist?

Listening to her words, Selena could imagine him. Of course, hats off to Camilla's perfect description of him. A broad grin spread all over Selena's face, seeing her zoned out.

"Back to earth, Writer." The sound of her snapped fingers brought her back, but she was still zoned out. "Huh? What were you saying?"

"Girl, you should be a writer. The way you explain, oh god. Anyway, what's your perfectionist name?"

The thought of his name made her look like a foul. She grimaced around and then glanced at Selena. "I- I don't seem to know his name."

WHAT THE HECK? What was that? She didn't know the name but his whole physical features in detail. Selena's face seemed as if she was so done with her. Her eyebrows raised, and the lips partially opened.

"Camila, are you a pig? You don't even know his name. How will you continue this love story?"

"Whatever! If fate wants us to be together, we'll meet again."

"You believe in fate? Come on! It's just to give false hopes to people. Without even knowing anything about him, how are you going to start a love life with him? It feels impossible to me."

Although she spelled the truth, it triggered Camilla. To an extent, she lost her control and said something hurtful that clenched Selena's heart.

"Huh? You shouldn't talk about this matter. Remember you took almost a year to talk with Mark."

MARK, his name was enough to wrench her soul. It seemed she wouldn't get rid of their toxic relationship ever. Mark left a memory of a drought of happiness in her life that was impossible to fill in again.

Just when she realized her words, Selena was already trembling with her lips downturned.

*I screwed up again!*

She instantly seized her arms, slowly yet gently apologizing to her.

"Darling, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't mention that rascal in front of you. He's a bitch. Gosh, he will suffer the same, I swear. God keeps track of all his sins. I wish his girlfriend cheated on him. Then he will feel your pain."

"Don't say that, Camilla. We shouldn't think immoral for anyone, not even for him. Besides, I have already moved on. I don't care about him or our past anymore."

She stared at Selena with adoring gazes as she was proud of her. Letting go of her past was trouble for her. Like forgetting every single moment with him was not as easy as she thought. Within years, she overcame her distress.

"Darling, I'm so proud of you."

"So as for me!"

..................................................

After dinner, he walked towards his room while talking with her mom. Yes, the only one who he could talk to freely, his mom. Getting kicked out by his dad, he left with no one in contact. Years passed, his dad never came to meet him, nor let his mom meet him. Therefore, she contacted him secretly. Whenever his dad zoned out in sleep, she came out and talked to her son.

Bending down, he rested on the bed while one hand holding the phone.

Shawn: Mom, how are you doing? Is everything there alright?

Mom: Everything here is alright, Shawnee. Son, are you okay? Is dinner healthy enough for you?

Shawn: Rest assured, Mom. The cooks you referred to made delicious dishes for me. Despite such meals, I miss your cooking a lot.

Mom: I feel helpless, Shawnee. I also want to cook for my son, but you know your dad. He's still mad about that matter. Still, no matter how foolish he tried to act, I know he cares a lot about you. He watched all your interviews, keeping an eye on your company's growth.

A tiny smile shined all over his face. He wanted to compensate for his mistakes, for the hurt he gave to his parents.

He craved to listen to his dad calling him Son once again. His ears were dying to hear his voice. Maybe, that day would never come when the Vaughan family reunited and lived again under one roof.

Shawn: Mom, I'm missing you. I want to hug you.

Mom: Me too, Son. I'm hoping one day your dad will break this wall, and we can live together.

Shawn: It's late already, Mom. I have a meeting tomorrow.

Mom: Okay then. Take care, Shawnee. Momma loves you.

Shawn: I love you too.

The call was then hung up by him with tears in his eyes. He missed, he definitely missed the family feel.

He grew up with a happy family life with mom cooking for him, dad buying stuff for him, he felt like a big part of his life was thrown out somewhere. Or was lost in the misery of adulthood mistakes.

He rested the head above on the pillow and closed his eyes to imagine something else, shifting his thoughts somewhere else.

He didn't know why Selena popped into his mind. It was so unexpected like they literally had nothing to do with each other. Then why was his mind diverted towards her?

Was he imagining them together? Could it be a signal from God that would start their love story?
