Sabrina froze on her seat. Her chest was about to explode at how hard it was pounding. “You know her?” Michelle inquired. “Yeah. We know each other,” Ashley answered meaningfully. Sabrina shut her eyes momentarily as she took a deep breath. Then, slowly, she lifted her head and looked at the woman standing on her side. “You're here,” she said with a fake smile. She could see how Ashley’s eyes went wide upon confirming that it was really her. Meanwhile, the two remained on their seats with lips pressed together and expression seemingly displeased that she was there. “I didn’t know you two knew each other,” Ashley turned to Jacob. Sabrina shifted her gaze to her boss. She watched his expression and saw him continue eating as if he didn’t hear anything. “Eat, Sabrina. We need to go back to work in fifteen minutes,” he said. It was not only Sabrina who was shocked to hear that. Their lunch break was one hour and it was not even thirty minutes since their break started. “Do we h
Sabrina shut her eyes tightly as she once again cursed inwardly. She forgot that there was a possibility that they knew Jacob because they have a common cousin which was Vince Salvatorre. “Georgina,” their boss greeted. “That’s really you. How nice to see you here. It’s been a long time. How are you doing now?” It was Ashley. “I’m good,” Jacob responded curtly. The woman chuckled. “You did not change,” she commented. “I’ve heard from Vince you’ve got your great artist back. How’s the business going?” “Good. Not going to bankruptcy yet,” Jacob shrugged his shoulders. The three women chuckled. By the way they were conversing, it was so obvious that they knew each other well. And surprisingly, Georgina seemed to be joining the conversation too which surprised Sabrina. She could already taste the blood in her mouth as she was biting the bottom of her lips too hard. All she wanted to do at the moment was to teleport or just disappear out of nowhere. Their conversation got cut off
Sabrina’s world stopped for a second. With trembling hands, she looked at Michelle with wide eyes, “W-what?” She stuttered. Meanwhile, Michelle pointed her index finger at her, “As fast as I could remember, Mr Mondragon wanted to talk to you that day..” Her eyebrows raised. “She didn’t follow him though..” Angelo chimed in. Michelle shook her head. Her eyes were shining as though she knew something which made Sabrina’s heart pounded so hard. “Ella said you left your car in the parking lot..” she muttered. All the blood got drained from Sabrina’s face. She could still remember clearly how Gabriel cornered her and forcedly pulled her inside the backseat of his car and made her sit on his lap. “I don’t remember,” she lied as she looked away and touched her left eyebrow. “Are you sure?” Michelle chirped. Sabrina nodded without looking at them. Fortunately, it was already nine and their boss already sent an email to each of them, reminding them that it was time for work. She was
“You’re glowing," Michelle commented as soon as she entered the workroom.Unconsciously, Sabrina touched her face as she could feel her cheeks instantly heated up. But she tried to compose herself and just acted nonchalant. “It’s just make-up,” she responded whilst averting her gaze.Michelle, however, raised her eyebrows as though she was not falling for it, “Since when did you learn how to put on make-up, huh?” She queried suspiciously. In an instant, Sabrina froze. Forgetting that her friends and literally everyone around her knew that she was not a fan of those things. It can even count on her fingers how many times she actually wore make-up and those times were when she attended events like her coming of age celebration and graduations. “I just wanted to try it,” Sabrina said in a tiny voice. It was not a lie though. That morning after she took a shower, she saw the set of make ups in the walk-in closet. Curiously, she took them out and got tempted to use them especially af
Sabrina froze. It was not what she was expecting to hear from him. What she actually expected was he would either accept her apology or reprimand her. Lifting her gaze, she met Gabriel’s eyes. But then, her heart almost stopped from beating upon seeing his sharp gaze. “Go back to our room,” he repeated. Sabrina did not say anything and quickly turned around. Hastily, she walked out of the office without looking back. She almost ran back to the master bedroom and dove to the bed with her face first.“He’s so cold!” She groaned. Her chest was thumping so loudly. It was not the first time he was treating her coldly but for some reason, it didn’t suit her well. In fact, she was actually disappointed about it. Gabriel could have said it nicely. He could say that he was busy and ask them to talk about it some other time. She knew she had no right to her mad as she was in the wrong, but her feelings were valid. Turning around and resting her back against the mattress, Sabrina then
Sabrina was being bold to say such, but she did not care at all. That woman needed to provoke so she would stop sprouting lies anymore. Certainly, she would immediately fold once she learns that Gabriel was just on the side, listening to her make up stories about him. ‘I’m just saving you, actually,’ she thought when the woman took long to respond. “I did not steal his phone,” Janette said with conviction. Shrugging her shoulders, Sabrina looked up at her husband to check his reaction. However, she was quite disappointed upon seeing this blank expression as though he was not bothered by it at all. Sabrina wanted to ask him if he was okay with it but decided against it. However, doubt filled her heart and became suspicious that he was just lying to her. Maybe Janette was telling the truth all along or maybe they were conspiring against her. Pressing her lips, she squinted her eyes at Gabriel as she suddenly demanded over the phone, “Then give him the phone”On the other line, Sab
