KATIE

The wedding went off without a hitch.

No drama, no mysterious women barrelling in to object, no last-minute confessions of a secret affair. Just the elegant and grand ceremony, filled with luxury and roses, and a crowd that looked more powerful than affectionate.

A few friends of mine I hadn't expected to show up did and I met few of Evan's relative too. They all promised to visit the mansion after the wedding.

I stood beside Evan Blackman and said “I do,” wearing a dress that still felt too pristine for the tangled mess in my heart.

And now, I was officially his. Mrs. Blackman.

I should’ve felt victorious, maybe proud, maybe even excited. Instead, I felt like a prize locked in a glass box, too polished to breathe.

The celebration soon ended and everyone began to disperse, guests, workmen, photographers, all of them. I dismissed the attendants and made my way to my room.

Finally! I could have some peace time to myself. No preparations or fittings check.

I changed into my night

  • Accidentally Married again   Don’t keep me hanging.

KATIE “Don’t keep me hanging, Maria.” I broke the silence with a teasing lilt, since she refused to let me in and still blocked my path in a daze. “Let me in, young lady.”I gave her a half-hearted grin—one I didn’t believe myself, but I needed answers. Maria’s face was stiff and conflicted. Still, she hesitantly stepped aside and let me in.The moment I stepped inside, I placed the gelato on the table and let my eyes wander, scanning the apartment like a detective on a mission. It was quiet and I couldn't see anyone in sight. But the lingering scent of a man’s cologne was very thick which means he was was still inside. Funny how I thought for a moment he would have escaped through some backdoor of the sort.I turned to her slowly. “So, are you going to tell me what’s going on, or should I start asking your couch?”Maria fidgeted. Obviously, she knew I heard them and was aware of what was going on before my unannounced arrival. Her hands twisted the hem of her shirt, her eyes refusi

  • Accidentally Married again   The interruption.

KATIEIt was the first weekend since my marriage to Evan and the silence in the mansion was annoying than ever. What was I expecting after all?The staff moved around like ghosts, Avery had vanished into whatever abyss she came from when she wasn’t hovering over me, and Evan... well, Evan was doing what he did best; disappearing.I hadn’t seen Maria in person since the wedding. Just a few texts here and there, quick messages laced with emojis and sarcasm, but nothing like the warm, comforting discussion that usually came with her physical presence.I missed her.I missed the way she’d talk a mile a minute, filling up the empty spaces in my life with life. I missed her bluntness, her teases, and even her annoying habit of always touching my hair when she thought I wasn’t looking. So, I decided. I was going. I didn't tell her beforehand. She was my best friend. She was going to be home as it was Saturday, and unless the world was on fire, Maria never left her apartment on weekends unles

  • Accidentally Married again   Royal guard.

CHAPTER 20EVANThe moment I saw Katie’s message, the one where she said she’d agreed to my terms, I couldn’t hide the wide grin that showed on my face and the deep sense of satisfaction that came with it.Finally.She was going to be mine. Officially. Permanently.Call me possessive, obsessive, overbearing; frankly, I don’t care. I’ve always gotten what I wanted. I don’t believe in “no” or “maybe.” I believe in results. Katie Malory was no exception. From the moment she walked into my life with those sharp blue eyes and the seductive voice of hers, I knew I had to have her.So I made it happen.I didn't hesitate to bring her to my estate, within my reach, where I could see her, hear her, smell her and even feel her presence. She acted like she couldn’t stand me, but deep down, I knew she didn’t hate me. Not really. Hate doesn’t make your pulse race when I enter the room. Hate doesn’t make you hold your breath when our eyes lock. Whatever she tried to deny, I saw through it all.I ma

  • Accidentally Married again   Who?

CHAPTER 19KATIE “Hey, Katie. You're taking so long to get into that dress.” Maria’s voice jolted me out of my reverie. Before I could respond, she had already drawn the curtain slightly to the side and peeked in, her brows lifting. “Do you need help?”“I can use some help with the back,” I replied, forcing a tight smile even though my hands were trembling.Maria stepped in and began zipping the gown up slowly. “Wow,” she whispered, once it was secured. “Katie, you look absolutely breathtaking.”I turned slightly to face the mirror. The gown clung to my figure like it had been stitched just for me.It was perfect. And yet... I felt nothing asides being numb. No happiness, anxiety or positive feeling whatsoever.Like I was watching someone else’s life unfold in front of me, someone else's reflection in that mirror. My mind was still echoing with Mirabelle's voice and her piercing glare.Maria’s hands settled gently on my shoulders. “You okay?” she asked softly, peering into the mirror

  • Accidentally Married again   Another marriage?

KATIE Different colours of gowns shimmered under the soft lights of the boutique like fragile dreams waiting to be worn. Tulle, lace, satin, there was too much to choose from, and yet none of it felt real. I was in the store with racks of gowns fanning out like a royal procession, and still, a part of me felt like I was watching someone else’s life play out. It's been two days since Evan said we'll be having a wedding. True to his words, his lawyer visited me the following afternoon with another contract to sign. It stated that under no circumstance am I to leave Evan except some terms were broken or not fulfilled. There were a couple of terms that could be broken, but the one that soothed me the most was where it stated that if Evan ever failed to protect me, not just physically, but emotionally, then I had every right to walk away, no questions asked. Seeing this, so many ideas began to cross my head. I could leave whenever I wanted to.“I still can’t believe this,” Maria said f
