Bad news

ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED A BILLIONAIRE

(Bad news)

The curtains of the room were spread apart to allow the rays of the sun to penetrate into the room landing on Emily's sleeping figure.

Her eyes flew open but immediately shut itself when the rays from the window met her eyes, blinking once then twice to adjust to it, she winced at the sudden pain which erupted through her body.

At that moment, she felt like she was hit with a sledgehammer as her head throbbed badly along with her aching body.

Her eyes impulsively flung open as she sat erect on the king sized bed taking notice of her surrounding and still looking, she found

herself on a bed with a duvet wrapped around her legs.

Pushing the duvet to the side, her eyes landed on the clothes she wore which didn't look like anything she could afford.

The dress was beautiful and expensive.

At this rate several questions ran through her mind.

How did she get here?

And most importantly, where is here?

The last thing she remembered was being left at the alter and coming to the bar.

Damn Richard.

He was the worst.

Her feet wobbled beneath her, a pause to relax was all it took for her to continue exploring round the room.

She couldn't help but admire the interior decor of the room.

From the high ceiling roof of the bedroom to the full length glass window to the

walls smooth and beautifully painted.

She shifted her gaze to the  exquisite furniture.

Everything in the room screamed of luxury and class.

It definitely looked like a presidential suite in a hotel.

Emily couldn't remember going to a hotel.

Her thoughts were cut short when she heard the sound of water which meant that she wasn't alone in the room and in a little while, whoever was in there would come out.

A knock on the door was heard after which it opened to reveal a man who stood there with both hands behind him.

" Good morning ma'am" a masculine voice greeted her.

" Who are you and where am I?" She asked waiting for a response.

Just then, a lady came out from the bathroom bowing her head when she came to stand before Emily.

" Your bath is ready" the lady in a maids attire  Informed.

Emily couldn't comprehend anything.

'who are these people?'

" It's good you are awake. My name is Garry. You were brought in here last night"

The man spoke stepping into the room to stand a few feet away from her.

To the maid, he signalled her to leave and without a word she left.

" Why?"

" There's alot that needs explaining but in the main time why don't you take your bath. Breakfast is ready" he said.

A frown latched between Emily's brows as she stared at the man who instead of answering her question, avoided it.

Her hands flew to her face when she face palmed herself. The situation she was in was still not understandable.

Her head was bickering in pain and all she could do was to stay in that position for a while.

" Your wedding dress have been washed and ironed properly"

She let out a small gasp on hearing him.

It was at that moment she realized that someone must have changed her.

" Did you change me?" Her eyes went wide at her question.

She stared at herself once more, she wore white short length gown.

" Of course not. We have maids to do that" he answered calmly.

" I'm sure you have lots of questions but I am not the one to answer them. You have to direct the questions to the boss" he stated.

Emily's interested piqued at this, she gave a nod after which she requested to see him.

" Where is he?"

" At the moment he is away. He will be back soon" he said.

"I have to get out of here" she muttered to herself but it was also heard by the man standing in front of her.

" I'm sorry but that's not possible. The boss ordered that you stay here until he returns"

" Boss? Well I will have you know that I can't stay here"

Even with her words, his face held a serious look which began to scare Emily a little.

" Did you kidnap me?"

Her eyes anxiously stared at his, a smile broke loose from his lips and shaking his head he said.

Emily reached for her phone on the dresser and inputing her password, she was met with 30 new messages and ten phone calls.

Three from Mr Evans and seven from Tricia but immediately after she glanced at her phone, it went blank.

" Of course not"

Her mind raced to means by which she could contact her mother.

She knew that her mother would be worried sick about her disappearance.

"Do you have a cell phone?"

Emily asked.

She knew that her mother would be worried sick about her disappearance.

It didn't take long before a cell phone was brought to her and in an instant, she dialled her mother's number, not once, not twice but severely and each time, she got the same result.

She wasn't picking her calls.

Her friend Tricia came to mind.

It took one call for her to pick up the phone.

" Hello. Who is this?"

Asked Tricia.

" It's me, Emily. How is mom? Have been trying to get through to her but her number isn't reachable" Emily spoke freely regardless of the person in the room.

While she made her calls, the man stood there like a hawk simply watching her every move.

"Emily you have to come quick. Something terrible is happened to her"

The voice at which she spoke was discomforting raising worry in Emily's head.

The first question the came to her mind ' Was her mother in trouble?'

Did she have a heart attack again?

" Tell me, what is it? Is she okay?"

Anxiety clouded her mind as she hoped to hear positive results from Tricia.

The high pitched voice which she spoke with was enough to tell the man in the room that something bad had happened.

"At the moment she is at the hospital. I'll send you the address" Tricia said.

Disconnecting the call, she slummed down on the bed, warm heavy tears clouded her vision leaving her unable to see, blinking it poured down her cheeks.

For long moments she stayed in that position burying her head in the pillow soaked with her tears. When Emily raised her head expecting to be alone, she still found the man in the room.

Just then, the phone beeped and staring at it, a message popped up, one which had the address of the hospital.

" I see you received bad news" said Garry and Emily couldn't bring herself to speak only to nod.

" I have to go" she said

With this the man gave way for her to proceed.

" I'll take you to where you want to go" he said.

Emily felt he was being over considerate but instead of protesting, she nodded.

She followed him till they got into the car driving off to her destination.

On getting to the hospital, she met Tricia worriedly pacing around.

On noticing Emily entering the hospital, Tricia quickly went to her.

"Where have you been?"

" What Happened to her?" They simultaneously asked.

"You have no idea how much had to be paid for your mother to undergo surgery"

Mr Evans said.

His words brought extreme confusion and pain in the heart and mind of Emily.

" Surgery..." She muttered.

" When you ran away after hearing that Richard won't be able to attend the wedding, your mother went to look for you without informing anyone and when we found her, she was unconscious in the middle of the road. A car had knocked her down and she was bleeding profusely.

We brought her to the hospital only to be informed that she would have to go to surgery due to the internal bleeding"

It was Tricia who took the time to explain.

Guilt delved into Emily's heart.

She should have known that her mother would go look for her.

" Where is she now?"

"In her ward. She was operated on an hour ago"

Tears dropped down Emily's cheek and Mr Evans seeing this went to her to embrace her gently stroking her head.

" She's fine now"

" Thank you for paying for her surgery" Emily said with a sniff.

Mr Evans held her by both arm bringing her to stand an inch away from him.

"We didn't pay for the bills. A stranger paid the bills" he informed.

Emily's brows creased, her hands going to wipe her tears.

Before Emily could throw questions to the him, a nurse approached them making all attention to be drawn to her.

"Can we see her now?" Tricia asked for the nurse to nod.

" Yes you can but please be sure to not make her feel uncomfortable" she informed.

Emily went into her her ward to see her lying there staring up at the ceiling.

She stared down at her pale skin which was close to resembling someone in the clutches of death.

Everyday she watched her health deteriorat which made her want to burst in tears.

Never in Emily's life has guilt shadowed her than when she watched her mother.

When she turned her head towards her direction, her eyes met hers and  Emily could see her eyes glim in excitement as she gave a smile.

"Emily are you okay?"

Her voice held concern, eyes Peircing deep in hers.

With a fake smile plastered up her lips, she walked to the bed side of her mother when she tried to stand.

Her hands stretched forward to restrict her movements, she tried to lie her back on the bed but she refused and shot her hands to cup Emily's cheek.

" I'm fine mom" she answered but the doubt in her mother's eyes didn't waver.

Shifting her gaze to her to her body, she tried to detect any sign of injuries but found none. It was only then did she feel relieved.

" Where have you been? I've been worried sick about you" Lucille said pulling her into a firm hug that left Emily almost breathless.

" I.. I spent my night at a friend's house" she lied not wanting her mother to worry.

But Lucille hearing her, furrowed her brows at her with doubt clearly written on her face.

"The only friend I know you have is Tricia and she has been with me all through the night"

There goes the interrogation from her mother.

"Tricia isn't the only friend I have" she said but her words weren't doing the trick of convincing her.

Glad that her daughter was back, she moved her to the couch.

" Are you sure you are alright?"

Mrs Lucille asked not because of her physical state but also her mental state.

She knew that she was deeply hurt by Richard action's.

"I am mom. I promise"

She answered putting on a smile but the doubt in her mother's eyes didn't waver.

" I heard what you did. You should have informed someone before you left. What if something bad happened to you?

I would just d..."

A frown paved its way up to Lucille's head on hearing the words of her daughter but right before she couldn't complete her sentence, she shushed her.

" Don't say that. Nothing will happen to me and I promise it won't happen again.

I was extremely worried about you. Richard doesn't deserve you"

Tricia watched from beside Mr Evans.

The little conversation they had made her smile.

About half an hour later, Emily left her mother to rest and towards the cafeteria where Tricia was waiting for her.

" So tell me where you have been because I don't believe that lie you told" she said crossing her hand on her chest with a stern look up her face.

"Fine. I spent my night at a hotel. To be honest, I don't remember going there"

She shrugged.

"Really? Maybe someone kind enough brought you there?"

The possibility of that happening wasn't impossible.

" Do you feel strange?" Tricia asked looking at her lower region.

" No, not at all. I feel fine"

Just then Tricia's phone rang and without hesitation, she picked it up.

She disconnected the call after the little conversation.

Emily simply glanced at her as she made her and from her conversation with the person on the other line, she could make out that she was speaking to her father.

"My dad left the keys with me and now he is stranded at home. I'll have to go"

" It's okay"

"I'm glad you're safe and please update me with Information concerning your mom okay?"

To this Emily nodded.

Seeing Tricia's retreating figure, Emily stood going to the hospital, there she met the doctor outside her mother's ward.

" What's her situation now doctor?" Emily spoke up.

" Miss Emily please step into my office" he said. Nervousness was clearly written on her fsce. On hearing his words.

After a quick glance at her mother, she followed the doctor into his office.

Gesturing her to seat which she did, he heaved a sigh.

Anxiety rised up within Emily as she stared at the doctor.

" Doctor please tell me her situation? I can tell by your expression that you are about to tell me something terrible"

"I'm sure you are aware of the situation of your mother. Well the thing is that her condition has worsened and right now, we need to operate on her.

Any further delay might decrease her chance of survival"he informed.

Hearing this, Emily blinked away the tears threatening to pour down her cheeks.

" How long do I have to get the money?" She asked.

" To be honest, you have only a week"

Tears filled Emily's eyes and her heart ached badly.

" How much is it?"

" Two million. The sooner you arrange the money the better it will be for her"

At this her mouth flew open.

All the days Emily has been working, she wasn't able to raise the money.

The worst part was that she spent her savings all in the wedding dress now she was almost, penniless.

She had never seen such amount.

Where was she going to get the money from?

"Can I take her home now?"

"No you can't. She isn't stable yet and we also have to undergo a few more tests" he informed for her to nod.

After discussing with the doctor, Emily left the office heading straight to her mother's ward.

She couldn't imagine the pain her mother was going through.

She had planned to get her share of the property right after the marriage and maybe sell it to afford the fees but now, there was no wedding and she doubt that her step mother would give her a dime even if she pleaded with her life.

Damn her father for making such a stupid wish in his will.

She had to get married or at least be up to twenty three before the property gets transferred to her.

As she got closer to the ward, she heard voices and laughter coming from inside.

"That's wonderful " she heard her mother say.

Tricia and Mr Evans had already left so Emily couldn't imagine who her mother could be talking to or perhaps Tricia came back to say goodbye but that wasn't the case. Instead of meeting Tricia, she met a strange man who had his back turned to her.

"You are back" her mother said when she found her at the door.

This brought all attention to her and he stood to face her.

Standing in front of her was a man tall in height with his hair combed back and both hands in his pocket.

The man had such a strong presence that as he stepped closer to her, she couldn't help but gulp down her saliva.

His chiseled face and sexy lips were enough to drive every woman crazy.

"Hello miss Emily" he greeted which stunned Emily.

"You... you know my name?" She stuttered.

"Who are you?" She asked.

" Your husband and I'm here to take you with me"
