Chapter 2: TMI

Diana

Add two days forty minutes to three days fifteen hours thirty-three minutes, you have five days, sixteen hours, thirteen minutes. And yes, I was still counting.

My friend Jane dropped me in front of my house. She had her laser-focused gaze on Nancy's house. She usually did that whenever she was super interested in finding something out and this something had to do with my neighbour. I found it weird that this new guy could command such attention even in a school he doesn't attend.

"Did you x-ray it well? Do you know which room Adam sleeps in? Ugh! Don't tell me he is in his underwear?" I said, teasing my friend.

Her milky cheeks went red, and her nose became red reminding me of a reindeer. Blushing was something Jane did openly. She could never hide it, thanks to her very white, vampire-like skin. Some days, I could be jealous of how smooth it was and other days, once the sun decided to leave its mark, I wouldn't wish my enemy her kind of skin. All in all, she rocked her skin come sun come rain.

"Can't I be curious about the boy that has all the girls in school aflutter and the boys jealous? I saw a picture of him getting off his bike and I almost died." She sighed, dramatically fanning herself with her two hands as she probably went to her mental gallery to get the snapshot she saved up there for future purposes.

I shook my head and rolled my eyes at her absurdity. "It's just one guy. Besides, when did you start using the word aflutter?" I asked trying to change the topic. Not one to be deterred, she took me back to it.

"I would like to run my hand through his dirty blond hair and stare into his grey eyes. I wouldn't mind kissing his left dimple or the scar above his left brows." She sighed dreamily. I waved my hands in front of her to get her attention.

"You haven't even seen the guy and you know a lot about his facials than I, his neighbour, do." I was slightly miffed she knew the eye colour I had been trying for days to guess. Thankfully, I didn't show it.

"Oh! Please. I know more. Don't get me started on his lips. He has a full lower lip that looks soft enough to bite into. His tanned skin and roughened hands." She kept saying and I tuned her out, not wanting more information than the one she already gave me. Knowing more was dangerous to my sanity. I wouldn't want to join the league of girls going 'aflutter' for Adam-okay, maybe not publicly. I prefer my crush was unknown. I couldn't even trust Jane with this news, because I knew she wouldn't allow me to rest. Frustrated, I twisted the cap off my orange juice and took a swig when I decided to tune her back in. It was the wrong move because what I heard made me spill the juice on her windscreen and dashboard.

"What happened?" She asked me, alarmed. I couldn't speak as I was coughing out the liquid stuck in my lungs. I swear I had juice coming out of my nose too. It felt uncomfortable. If Martins had been with us he would probably yell something like, "this happened in that movie!" He was that childlike. It was no wonder he didn't have much luck with the girls, especially the ones he liked.

"Diana, are you okay?" She placed a hand on my back, carefully running her hands up and down in a soothing motion. What she said was still ringing in my head.

He had a tattoo of a crest on his back and another of three spades on the skin at his lower back directly above his left butt cheek. I was never into bad boys. I didn't like their vibe or the energy around them. I could live with a bike or a small tattoo but not the ones Jane described or the piercing in his left nipple. I mean, who in their right mind pierces their nipple? I couldn't fathom how someone as sweet, good, and adorable as Nancy could have a grandkid like that.

That same instant, I killed my crush on Nancy's Grandson. I wondered if Nancy knew her sweet grandson like she always sang to me whenever I went to bake with her, had a tattoo or had pierced his nipple. For once, I was glad Jane gave too much information.

"You saved me," I said to her, talking about how she saved me from nursing a crush on Adam. Since we weren't on the same wavelength, I didn't expect her to understand what I was talking about.

"All I did was run my hands down your back, dear. Be careful when you take a sip, okay?" She said and I nodded.

«You're being judgemental sis.» Matthew, who I discovered had become Adam's champion, said in my head but I ignored him.

"Don't talk to me right now! I don't want to hear it." I said back to him in my head. He would have said something, but he didn't, and I closed the door on any future discussion for now. I wouldn't lie and say I wasn't disappointed by what I found out. I was immensely saddened by the news, and I didn't like the fact that I was that affected by the information.

"Do you think he would go on a date with me? I mean I know your landmine of a cousin is trying to get him to join her worshipping club, but so far so good I heard she hasn't succeeded, meaning I still have time to strike." She said to me without looking at me, her gaze fixed on the house, housing Adam in his glory.

"I wouldn't know," I answered disinterestedly, not caring about it anymore. At least that was what I felt.

"Are you okay?" Jane finally turned away from the house to look at me. She probably noticed I was not sounding right. Leave it to her to notice my mood change.

"Sure. I am fine. Just tired and sleepy" I acted out a long yawn to convince her of my feigned tiredness and picked up my bag. Slamming the door of her bright red Chevy, I waved goodbye.

"I'll see you tomorrow. I'll just rest up."

"Okay b, see you tomorrow." She didn't look convinced but she also didn't push, and for that I was grateful. It was in that same spot I made an important decision.

Without a doubt Adam was leaving the residence I created for him in my head and he was leaving now.
