Chapter 6 - Shocking Revelation

(Mavin's POV)

After I had escorted my grandpa home and taken him to his room downstairs, I ensured that my grandpa drank his medicine before I left him to the care of Angela and went back upstairs to my bedroom.

I went into my closet and changed my casual clothes into a blue suit. I set to leave for the company, as I had a business meeting at noon with my shareholders and partners.

I had already contacted Henry Black to reschedule the business meeting in the afternoon and to let my secretary know that I wouldn't be arriving at the company on time.

The day was Saturday, October 18. I took my time to dress up properly in my room. The business meeting included meeting with foreign partners that I work with, even though Grandpa Charlie had disconnected his company association from mine—unless I marry to give him a great-grandchild or impregnate someone before the year ends.

I knew I still had to work very hard to control Grandpa's company too. It was only a temporary warning, but I still didn't want to take my Grandpa's warning seriously, nor his written will too.

I walked toward my room mirror again to examine my looks and adjusted my blue suit necktie to fit properly.

After I was through adjusting my suit, I wore my socks and black shoes. I left the house and went downstairs to my garage, where I have a lot of cars—ranging from SUVs to my G-wagon and sports cars. I drove around the city by myself.

I walked toward my black SUV, a black Range Rover Sport. It was one of my favorite cars. I got into the driver's seat, started the vehicle engine, and finally drove out of my residence to my company.

I thought about Thelma, the young lady I had a one-night stand with. I thought it best to get a complete full information check about her. I couldn't remember using any protection on her the previous night. It wasn't like I had a condom to wear, as I wasn't planning on sleeping with any woman either.

Knowing it was her first time too, I felt bad. I had slept with her roughly because I hadn't been with a woman before.

I finally arrived at my company's gate. It was a smooth ride from home to office, without any hold-up along the way.

I drove into my company headquarters. That was where my office was. We have other smaller branches in other states.

I stepped down elegantly from my car and walked toward the company building. I entered with the bodyguards guarding the luxurious five-story building.

I made my way toward the elevator and went up to the third floor, where the meeting hall was, using the private elevator. I stepped out and went straight to the business meeting.

I am a black man, so it wasn't visible on my face what had happened to me the previous night.

I was very mean too, so unfriendly with most of my staff. They knew it best to work diligently. Even the female staff didn't try to seduce me at work.

I entered the large meeting hall and made my way toward the head seat, where I usually sat as the CEO of M.W Group.

I could see that most of my top partners had arrived. They all had a displeased look on their faces, as I arrived late. The meeting hall was silent as I finally sat down on my seat.

I didn't know what the point of discussion was all about again. All I could think of was Thelma.

'What had she done to me?' I don't know, but I was sweating, despite the air conditioning being on in the meeting hall.

Luckily, my assistant Henry Black was there to help me out. He stood up and started to read out the brief of the business meeting to all our partners in the meeting hall—the new marketing value, pricing, and shares that we have in partnering with them.

Well, we only have one top competitor, and that was the B.H Group. They were far ahead of us. After the business meeting had come to an end, since I was still sweating seriously, I stood up and shook hands with some of our partners, not having the time to negotiate with them. I told them to meet with Henry Black, and I finally left the meeting hall with a displeased look on my face.

I wasn't in the right mood to speak with any of our top partners. I know they were aware of my mood swings at times, as I have heard different comments about me.

I made my way out of the meeting hall and entered the elevator that took me upward to the fourth floor.

I stepped out of the elevator and walked toward my office door. My secretary, Mrs. Tonia Briggs, a middle-aged woman in a black suit, stood up from her office seat and greeted me: "Good afternoon, boss."

Mrs. Tonia was a light-skinned woman. I knew that she was married with two kids. I managed to respond to her greeting, not wanting to be rude, as I went into my office.

My office was wide and spacious enough. It was painted in white, mixed with ash grey color.

I walked toward my black office chair and stopped beside the huge desk. I took off my blue coat first.

I subtly blamed myself for not listening to Doctor Amari's advice earlier, to have me do a quick medical checkup after seeing that I was sweating.

I took off my coat and dropped it aside on another seat. I was not expecting any guests, and I wanted to prevent any clients from coming into my office to see me. It was Saturday, not our usual working day. And more likely, I was sweating hot despite the air conditioning in my office.

I picked up my office telephone and placed a call to Mrs. Tonia Briggs's office line.

The phone call connected, and I informed Mrs. Tonia not to allow anyone into my office. She should direct them all to the rest of the top staff's offices that were around and reschedule any important business appointment until I have the time to meet with anyone.

Mrs. Tonia replied, "Okay, boss."

I immediately ended the office call and dropped the telephone line. I walked to my fridge, took out a cold bottle of water to drink from it, and to calm my body.

I finally settled on my office seat. I thought about Thelma again and wondered what kind of witchcraft she had possessed me with, as I couldn't stop thinking about her.

"Oh! Maybe it's because I haven't been with a woman before. But why can't I just stop thinking about her?" I grimaced and picked up my office line again to place a call to Mr. Adam, to know if he had found out Thelma's full details since he brought her to me the previous night.

The phone call rang on the first ring, but Mr. Adam didn't pick up my call immediately.

I frowned and phoned Mr. Adam again. He finally answered.

"Hello, boss," Adam said. I quickly asked him, "Have you found out any details about Thelma's real information yet?"

"No, boss, but we are still trying to match her identity. The only identity that we found that matched with her real image was Thelma Sebastian—CEO Conrad Sebastian and Melissa Sebastian's only daughter."

"What?" I froze and sat up properly on my office seat. The revelation took some time to register its meaning in my brain, to know who exactly Mr. Adam was talking about.

"Which Conrad Sebastian are you talking about?" I asked again.

Adam replied, "Uhm, boss, I think Thelma is the daughter of the CEO of B.H Group."

The phone line went silent for a while. I finally replied, "I don't believe you. Do your findings properly."

"Boss, that's what the hacker found. Maybe when I find another woman's identity that truly matches Thelma's image, I will let you know about it."

I sighed heavily and replied, "Okay."

The phone call ended, but I was still staring at my phone screen in disbelief. I couldn't believe that I had slept with my enemy's daughter.

B.H Group was totally monitoring all my company activities and literally creating everything that my company does.

For a long time, Steven Sebastian and I haven't interacted, even though we meet at shows or award ceremonies. Steven and I mostly compete for the Best Entrepreneur of the Year award, Best Businessman of the Year award, Billionaire of the Year award. And also our companies too were mostly compared by other growing companies that looked up to us, wanting to know which company was the best among my grandfather's company, named L.X Group, and the B.H Group.

I continued to stare at my phone screen silently. I finally dropped the phone on my office desk. I couldn't believe that CEO Conrad Sebastian would allow his only daughter to sleep outside late at night, and without bodyguards.

"This is unbelievable!" I said as I sat up properly and switched on my computer to research CEO Conrad Sebastian and his entire family online, for the very first time in my life.
