Zara’s POV

My heart stopped. My blood turned cold. He said it. The rogue leader said it. He knew me. He saw me. The thing I feared most stepped out of the dark and spoke out loud.

Marcus growled so deep it made the ground under me shake. His arm came in front of me, strong, hard, like a wall. He was ready to fight. But I could feel his heart racing. He was shocked. He wanted answers.

Nicholas stood there, only a few steps away. His mouth curved like a devil. His eyes scanned between me and Marcus, like he enjoyed cutting us open. “Runaway?” he said. His voice was harsh. “Now that is… interesting.”

“Shut your mouth,” Marcus snapped. His body shook with anger. But his hand gripped me like a feather, like if he let go, I’d vanish like a smoke.

The rogues moved closer, forming a circle. Their eyes glowed, so many of them, watching like wolves ready to bite. The leader walked forward. His face was cruel.
