Andre's POV

On seeing the intruder stiffen, I retracted my gaze and turned to look at something else. I didn't know why but I was not happy seeing that she looked scared. Was she scared because of me? I had no idea when I started to care about others.

I could see her whisper something to the person who came in with her and I guessed that might be her maid.

She turned to look at me and I could see the shock and fear reflect in her eyes.

I was about to ask who she was but Langford beat me to it and I was able to get the intruder's identity.

"Zara, please have your seat," Langford said and she slowly walked towards the table.

Then her father's beta growled at her which caused me to feel displeased. I could sense the hate in his voice for her and though I was curious, I didn't ask questions. The answers to the questions I had will unfold themselves.

"Zara," I said this name in my mind and I felt drawn towards her. She was very beautiful but her eyes looked lifeless. She looked like she didn't have the will to want to live anymore.

Immediately she sat, Langford ordered for the food to be served. As she was sitting close to me, I was able to get a whiff of her scent and I had to admit that was one of the best scents I have ever come across.

She smelled like lavender with a mixture of honey and cinnamon. Her scent was very refreshing and I held back the urge of biting her there.

But I could also smell something else and I was displeased by that. It seems she feared me for she stiffened once she sat close to me.

I wanted to tell her that she had nothing to fear for but I didn't know how to go about it. Caring for people was definitely not my thing.

We all ate and I was amazed by her etiquette. She did not talk while eating and that was a very good trait she possessed. The posture in which she ate was amusing to watch.

She sat with her back straight and she looked like she was being forced to eat. I chuckled internally and before I knew, we were done with breakfast.

We moved to the lounge where we're going to hold our discussion. As she sat close to me, I wondered if she was happy with our marriage alliance. Was she even aware of the alliance as she didn't feel like staying beside me or even breathing close to me?

My question was answered when Langford spoke and she reacted. It turns out she wasn't even aware of it. My face changed though it was not . Why wasn't she informed?

I saw tears fell from her eyes and I asked myself if she was crying because she didn't want to leave her dad or she was crying because she was about to # get married to me.

Langford asked for privacy and I gladly gave them the privacy but I put on the demeanor of a cold alpha as I snorted before leaving with Alex. I was not happy that my soon-to-be wife was not informed that she was about to get married to me. I felt like a fool while sitting there.

While we were dining, Langford's aid also came out. I guess it was going to be a father and daughter heart-to-heart talk.

The ideas of Langford stared at me with pity and mockery and though they tried so hard to conceal it, they could not hide it from me as I was aware of every human emotion no matter how you tried so hard to hide it.

"Why do you keep staring at my alpha that way, does he have anything on his face?" Alex was the loudest one and he could not take it anymore. So he asked them in his usual cold voice whenever he questioned suspects.

The men flinched immediately on hearing his voice. Clearly, they were not expecting that my beta Alex would be able to lash out at them this way.

"Alex, forget about it, I guess they forgot their manners for a moment," I said to him and didn't bother paying attention to them anymore. I had more important issues at hand.

I know this is wrong of me but I couldn't control myself. I wanted to eavesdrop on the conversation between the father daughter duo.

But I guessed that was a mistake on my part as I heard something which confirmed the rumors I had been hearing. My soon-to-be wife had no wolf and she was begging her father to tell me himself.

Before I could control myself, I burst into the room as I questioned them.

"What do you mean without a wolf?" My voice sounded more cold than I intended it to be and this made the two feel startled, especially Zara as she stared straight into my eyes, her eyes reflecting the shock and fear which she felt for me.

Her face was extremely white and it was clear she wasn't expecting me to burst through the door and ask such a question but I could care less. I only wanted answers.

Does this mean she was a weak wolf? All the previous attraction I felt towards her faded away in an instant and if not for the fact that I needed a wife, I would have walked out immediately.

"I asked a question, what do you mean she is without a wolf?" I asked once again, my patience was already running thin.

"You have to be calm alpha Andre," Langford said to me and I directed a cold glare towards him. Why is he asking me to be calm? I hated the word "calm" as it made me seem like an irrational person.

"Do not ask me to remain calm, I only asked a question and I am hoping you provide an answer to it," I said to him and this time, my voice was calm but people who knew me very well are aware that it would be the calm before the storm.

"The thing is that, ever since she lost her mom right in her presence, she had depression and we have done everything possible but she could not get out of it which caused her to feel very traumatized," Langford started and I turned my head towards Zara who was visibly shaking beside her dad.

My heart broke just by hearing the ordeal she had gone through but that doesn't change the fact that I wanted a strong mate. I didn't want someone who was going to pull me down, but I wanted someone who would be able to fight by my side…

Zara’s POVThe world tore open. One moment I was reaching for Marcus, our bond sparking alive between us, fierce and blinding. The next, the altar split in two, and shadows erupted like a flood, swallowing us both.I screamed as the ground vanished beneath my knees. My body plummeted through cold nothingness, the force yanking me from breath, from light, from everything that was real. My fingers clawed at the air, desperate to find him.And then there. His hand, rough and bleeding, closing around mine.I gasped, clinging to him with everything I had. The darkness writhed, furious at our connection, trying to tear us apart. But Marcus’s grip only tightened, his claws digging into my skin.“I’ve got you,” he growled, his voice ragged, swallowed by the void. “Don’t let go, Zara. Don’t you dare let go.”The beast’s laughter echoed all around us, low and monstrous. “Hold onto your delusions, Alpha. In my realm, you are nothing. She is nothing. And together, you will drown.”The shadows sur

  • Adored by my ruthless alpha   CHAPTER 59

Marcus’s POVThe forest still burned, smoke strangling the air as the beast’s wings vanished into the night sky. I could still hear Zara’s fading screams echoing inside me through the bond, each note ripping another piece of me apart.I fell to my knees, my claws sinking into the dirt. Blood dripped from my mouth, my body trembling with exhaustion and rage. My vision swam, but all I saw was her being torn from my arms, helpless in the claws of that monster.“Zara…” I choked her name, the sound more a vow than a plea.Behind me, the fire-born staggered to his feet, flames dimming, his once-bright aura a mere flicker. He pressed a hand to his chest, his breaths ragged. “He’s taken her to the old ruins. That’s where it always begins… and where it must end.”His words cut through the haze, but before I could respond, another voice slid into the clearing. Cold. Smooth. Poisonous.“Listen to yourself, Marcus,” Nicholas said, stepping closer, his expression unreadable. “You crawl in the dirt

Marcus’s POVThe monster’s breath poured over us like ash, hot and suffocating, as it lowered its massive head. Crimson eyes glowed with a hunger I had never seen before, fixed on Zara as if she were the only being in existence.I spread my arms wider, claws extended, my body a flimsy shield against the nightmare looming before us. My ribs screamed with every breath, my blood still dripping from my wound, but none of that mattered. If the creature wanted her, it would have to step through me.Zara whimpered behind me, clutching the back of my shirt. Her heartbeat raced so fast through the bond I thought it might rip itself apart. The beast’s maw opened, curling smoke escaping its jagged teeth. Its voice rumbled like the collapse of mountains. “Step aside, wolf. She was never yours to claim.”My snarl cut through the heavy night. “She’s mine. And I will die before I let you take her.”A low, amused rumble rolled from the monster’s chest. “So be it.”Its claw lifted, shadow writhing alo

  • Adored by my ruthless alpha   Chapter 57

Marcus’s POVThe roar of the beast swallowed the night. The earth heaved as though the roots of the forest itself rebelled against the thing clawing its way out of the fissure. Flames danced wildly, bending under its power, and for the first time since the battle began, the fire-born faltered. The creature rose fully, its body immense, scaled in black fire that flickered without consuming it. Horns curled from its skull like obsidian crescents, and its eyes glowed a deep, crimson hunger. The air itself thickened, choking, pressing on every chest like an invisible hand.Hunters who had stood so rigidly moments ago broke rank, stumbling backward, fear etched into their disciplined faces. Rogues those not already dead scattered into the woods with yelps of terror. And yet, in the midst of chaos, my focus sharpened on only one thing.Zara.Her body trembled against me, her breaths uneven, her wide eyes fixed on the monster as if it recognized her no, as if it had risen for her.I gripped

Zara’s POVFlames ripped through the sky like a wound torn open in the heavens. The fire bled downward, splitting the night apart with searing light that washed over the battlefield. Rogues froze mid-attack. Hunters stumbled back, their disciplined formation scattering for the first time. The ground shook beneath us as sparks rained down, setting the treetops ablaze.Marcus shoved me behind him, his chest still bleeding from the hunter’s strike, but his golden eyes locked on the flames as if even he couldn’t decide if this was salvation or damnation.“What… what is that?” I whispered, my voice trembling.Nicholas tilted his head, lips curling into that serpent’s smile. “The past, catching up to you, little liar.”The flames twisted, forming a shape. At first, it was nothing but heat and light, but then it condensed, taking form tall, cloaked, wings of burning embers spreading wide enough to darken the clearing. The hunters dropped to one knee in unison. Even their leader lowered his h

Marcus stood tall again, his body bloody, his claws dripping red. Nicholas’s smile slipped a little, his eyes darting to the trees. Then they came.Shadows at first. Then shapes. Men and women in gray coats, sliding out of the forest like ghosts. Their steps made no sound. They held silver bows, knives, spears, all shining like death. Their faces were hidden by masks, cold and empty.Hunters.My whole body went cold.Marcus growled deep, a sound that rolled like thunder in his chest. “What are they doing here?”The rogue leader spat blood into the dirt, grinning through broken teeth. “The gods want blood today, Alpha. He was tall, mask cut sharp, voice flat like steel.“Step away
