Chapter 2

作者: July
I watched Galen in silence and eventually said, "A friend's fiancé."

Hearing that, Galen approached me, carefully studying my face.

Then, he smiled faintly—clearly not noticing anything. "I see… Don't worry, I'd never cheat on you."

As he caressed my cheek with his thumb, I fought against my disgust and asked hoarsely, "Really? What if you did?"

"I'd never," Galen said confidently. "I swear by the Moon Goddess."

That was true.

When we first started dating, he swore to never cheat on me, or lose me forever.

All those solemn vows had been music to my ears, but I didn't believe a word of that now.

Smiling, I said nothing.

I'd soon be returning to my father's pack anyway.

Galen stopped worrying as soon as he saw me smile, and gathered my hands in his.

But before he could speak, I could hear the clicking of stilettos, and turned to find Beth opening the door and coming inside directly. "Anything missing, Alpha?"

Her dress had a plunging neckline, and there were two fresh pink hickeys just under her hair.

Galen nodded, not upset despite her intrusion, even scanning through the document with a straight face.

He despised unruly behavior before, and would scowl even if it were me, entering his office without knocking.

But that didn't apply to Beth.

And they were standing just three feet apart without doing anything out of the ordinary.

If I didn't catch them in the act before, I really wouldn't have suspected a thing.

On the night of our marking anniversary, he prepared fireworks in our garden to surprise me.

I could hear cheer and exclamations as the dazzling flares shot into the air, and I felt the envy of other she-wolves.

They all praised Galen for being such a romantic Alpha, to which he smiled and turned to me. "There'll be even more surprises to come—just like how we've been together for five years, but there will be more five years to come."

As it turns out, time really flies—in just five years, his devotion turned to unfaithfulness.

My eyes were reflecting the fireworks.

I quietly watched Galen fake a loving gaze for my benefit, and I avoided him when he tried to kiss me again.

That was when his phone rang in his pocket, and he scowled.

Still, that scowl faded once he checked it and sidestepped to avoid my prying eyes.

He behaved nonchalantly, but I could see the photo of Beth, dressed in an alluring babydoll that accentuated her stunning figure.

Galen locked his screen just then, his eyes lit up with excitement as he turned to me, sighing guiltily, "Sorry, Mia. Pack business, I have to—"

"Go. Don't worry about me," I said, cutting him short.

I refused to listen to any more of his lies.

Galen appeared surprised, but soon nodded and tousled my hair. "Just wait for me back home."

"Yeah," I replied, nodding.

After Galen drove away, I asked for the keys from my assistant to tail him.

However, Galen tightened his arms around me as she said, "Please, come home with me. Hit me and yell at me all you want—I'll take it. I'd never make the same mistake twice!"However, I didn't feel a thing even as his voice choked with sobs, while my tears were already used up and he slept with Beth on my bed."Let go of me! I'll never go with you!" I snapped, determined, but he wasn't letting go.As my cries grew louder, the warriors waiting for me at the car heard and rushed over, punching him in the face as they dragged him away.Galen kept begging even as he was floored, but I was busy rubbing my numb arm.Eventually, I turned to my warriors, "Get him out of here. I don't want to see him ever again, so kill him if he appears near our pack."Galen was ready to keep arguing, but seeing how cold and merciless I was, he decided against it.Instead, he asked, "If Beth never showed up… Would this have happened to us?"I finally turned to him, looking him in the eye and repeated, "

Beth was yelling and screaming at the surgical table, refusing to get the abortion.Naturally, the abortion didn't go smoothly—the fetus was just extracted and she was still bleeding, but she leaped away and ran without being stitched up.Galen, however, didn't care—all he wanted to know was where I was, so he sent more warriors to search every corner he could, even making TV appearances. However, nothing worked, and he was left hiding in his bedroom and crying, helplessness and despair swelling within him.He kept telling himself that I was just upset, that I would eventually come home, and he could explain everything. However, he then saw the box I gave him and the look on my face. Seeing hope, he wiped away his tears and eagerly opened it, and froze. After all, in the box was our wedding ring and the mate bond dissolution papers. His expression contorted even as his heartache swelled, as he never once considered that, as he always loved me.Even though he had an affair wi

Galen's knuckles clenched as he read through them, his eyes fixed on the screen.[So you do know your place. But it's always in your best interest to leave anyway.][My pup needs his daddy and he will eventually be heir. Try not to lose your dignity too.][Don't worry, I will take good care of Galen. Because I know how to love him more than you do.]Glowering, Galen swiped upwards only to see that each text was even more insulting, and she could even imagine my reaction when I read them.Clenching his knuckles so hard he was trembling, he had to control his breathing as he finally understood. My departure wasn't a coincidence, and I knew everything all along. And Beth was the reason everything happened. He flung Beth's phone on the floor right then, and it exploded loudly into pieces.Hearing the racket, Beth rushed outside. "What is it? What's—"She stopped short, quickly understanding what happened when she saw the pieces on the floor."Galen, I—"Before she could explain

Rushing over to the window, he called one of the servants. Before he could speak, the servant exclaimed anxiously, "Alpha! Luna is gone! She left when we bought what she asked for, and we searched everywhere but just couldn't find her! She even took all her clothes and jewelry with her!" The servant was on the verge of tears, while Galen sprang to his feet, his expression dark. "How did you lose her?! Are you sure you searched everywhere?!"His first thought was that I was in trouble—bumping into a rogue alone, or going somewhere for fun but never coming home.Picking up his jacket, he barked, "Keep searching! Find her, no matter what it takes!"And with that, he left without even telling Beth, though she already heard everything from the bathroom and felt at once gleeful.Galen was panicking even as he rushed home, calling and texting me repeatedly, almost ending up in traffic accidents. He then remembered the person he glimpsed earlier today, and realized that it really was

More texts came from Galen.[Why aren't you answering, dear?] [Where are you?] [I thought I just saw you elsewhere…]I didn't answer, and briskly turned off my phone.Soon, I was back at Odin's pack, and he was there to receive me.In the evening, the pack held a party to celebrate my return, and I made sure that I looked my best before going.-Meanwhile, Galen was getting anxious because I never answered.Even as he kept remembering the moment he noticed me passing by, he kept assuring himself that he made a mistake—that I should be home and waiting for him.As such, he was completely distracted even as he read his vows.Noticing that he was being strange upset Beth, just as Galen's phone rang in his pocket halfway through the exchange of vows.He promptly reached for it, thinking it was my call, but Beth caught his hand, shaking her head. "Everyone's watching—you can check it after this is over. Otherwise, you might jinx us if you interrupt the ceremony, and our pup na

However, I feigned ignorance and said calmly, "I guess it's pack business and it's urgent, since she didn't even have time to put on her clothes. Galen dragged her inside, snapping, "Just look at you!"Beth cried even louder right then, while Galen turned to me. "I'll deal with her at the study. Just try on that dress—see if you like it."I nodded, and Galen left with Beth in silence. I quietly tailed them, and watched as they entered the study, after which Beth promptly threw herself in his arms.Galen pushed her away in disgust. "I'm already being plenty nice letting you near us. And I warned you never to show up here, so what are you doing here? If Mia catches us, I'll exile you!"Wiping her tears, Beth sniffled as she hugged him again. "Sorry… I couldn't help myself, because I didn't know what to do… I'm with pup, Galen."It was a bolt from the blue that struck me violently, leaving me breathless and motionless.Beth was carrying his pup?I had been Galen's Luna for five
