Drake's POV

At that moment she turned to look in my direction, and our eyes met.

No emotion, blank expression on her face, the same way it has been for quite a while.

She turned her gaze away from me to face the young man beside her; it seemed like he was saying something.

For the first time since I've seen her after her return, she let out a really genuine laugh, one that was filled with happiness.

I tore my gaze away from them and downed the flute of champagne. I was holding down my throat and moved farther away from that scene.

"Drake!" A feminine voice called, drawing my attention to her.

I turned to stare at the source of the voice, keeping my facial expression blank.

"Angelina?" I arched an eyebrow at her in a questioning manner.

The petite brunette young lady that seems to be around my age folded her arms on her chest and said, "Don't tell me you forgot my name."

"Okay, I won't tell you I did," I replied with a shrug.

"Do you even remember me?" She questioned with a s

Charlotte's POV I watched Drake let out a sigh and turn his gaze away from me. Judging from his facial expression, I could tell that he was facing a lot of things that were making him look too stressed out. He barely has time to be chasing after me any longer. Now that his attention was buried in other things, this was the perfect time for me to strike, and I wouldn't hesitate to do so. The next phase of my plan would kickstart pretty early than I thought. It seems like fate is working in my favor. Mr. Marshal chose that moment to walk in with a briefcase held in his hand; he sat at the head of the huge and long rectangular table. I pushed off the wall I was leaning on and moved forward to occupy the one closest to Mr. Marshal, which was directly opposite the one that Drake was seated on. "Mr. Watson," Mr. Marshal called immediately after he settled down and placed his briefcase on the table. Before he proceeded with what he wanted to say, I already knew about it; in fact, eve

Drake's POV Scrolling through my phone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in my office, there was clearly a pissed expression on my face. The deal with the government had kicked off almost a week ago and there was a deadline set for each of us to attain certain tasks but due to some certain circumstances my company wasn't able to meet the deadline, but the same can not be said for Avatar Inc. though. They completed their task way earlier before the deadline. The media got news of that and different news have been flying here and there. Not a good one of course, but news that has been affecting our reputation negatively, while it was boosting that of Avatar Inc. and their CEO. With a sigh I slipped the phone into my pockets and just then a knock landed on the door. Without turning to look at the door, I said "Come in," The door was pushed open and light footsteps filled the office as they approached me. I could tell who it was, judging by the scent that wafted around the

Drake's POV Sitting amidst the board members a full week after the party, I noticed something real quick just before the meeting started: she was not here. Charlotte, I mean. I had thought that she would have made her way here before the meeting started, but unfortunately she didn't. "You called for this meeting," a board member called for my attention after I had zoned off unknowingly. I raised my eyebrows, pressed my lips to form a flat line, and with a nod, I returned back to my thoughts and raised a document up. "So... I'm pretty sure every one of you has this,"Most of them looked at the document placed in front of them; it was opened down in front of most of them; they must have gone through it. "What about it?" Someone else asked. I turned to look at him. "The names there are the list of people that are threatening to cancel the contract between our company and them and the list of projects that are on the verge of collapsing midway due to faults from us." I moved my ga

Charlotte's POV Huh?Sawyer and Drake together? What the hell are they talking about? There is one thing I know for sure: Sawyer would be the one to start the conversation, knowing Drake; even if he had seen Sawyer with me, he wouldn't approach him. But meeting with Drake after knowing my history with them was definitely something within the range of what Sawyer can do. "Your daughter looks so beautiful," Jo, a woman well in her late fifties, said to me, but her gaze was not on me; instead, it was on my little girl, who was staring with a hardened expression. "She's a friend of mine, Ivy; learn how to smile at friends," I said to her after a little tap on her shoulder. "Ok," she pouted and slowly plastered an obviously fake smile on her face. When she raised her head to stare at me and noticed that I wasn't giving her a friendly look, she returned her gaze to Jo. "C'mon Charlotte, don't be too strict on the little girl," Jo said, stretching her back to face me and also at the

Drake’s POV Frustration, anger. I don’t know which is the right word to describe the way I am feeling between the two words, or maybe it was both of them I was feeling at the same time. The new version of Charlotte was a headache to deal with. In the past she would have talked to me, no matter how pissed she was, even if I’m the one that pissed her off, but that is no longer the case. The fact that she acts like we weren’t once husband and wife is the main headache, treating me just like a business partner and nothing more. The next time we met was faster than I thought it would have been. The next day after the meeting with the government was a party of a business friend that I had been invited to and could not ditch no matter how hard I wanted to, given the relationship between both of us. “You made it, Drake!” He welcomed me with arms stretched wide for a hug and enveloped me in one. “Thank you, and please don’t crush me,” I stated and released myself from his grip. “Crush yo

Charlotte’s POV Slowly days passed by; nothing much happened until the first scheduled meeting the government had with my company and Watson Holdings. Just as expected, Drake was the one that showed up for the meeting. It was an important one; there was simply no way that he would have sent a representative, just the same way I wouldn’t have sent any representative to the meeting and would have begged Sawyer to help me deal with whatever would have kept me busy if it couldn’t be postponed. “It’s nice to meet you, Miss Charlotte Torres and Mr. Drake Watson,” the government representative said to welcome both of us when he made his way inside. “I will be the one representing the government for these meetings and almost everything that has to do with the contract,” the man, clearly around his mid-sixties, said to us with a faint smile that didn’t last long on his face. He sat at the head of the long rectangular table and slid documents to both me and Drake. “That is the first

Charlotte's POV What am I planning? Seriously, that's what he pulled me in here to ask? I thought the three years he had gone into the shadows would have been used to reflect on his issue, but it turns out he is still the piece of shit he was before I left him. It seems like the only thing he cares for is his empire and those that are actually of use to it. Contributing to help the company progress. “Are you kidding me, Drake?” I asked with a genuinely surprised tone.“Kidding you about what?” He asked. Confused. “Why will you be asking me what I'm planning?” Before he could reply, I quickly continued, I wasn't done talking. “I don't see any reason to tell you what I'm planning, if at all I have anything I'm planning,” He let out a sigh and covered his face with his palm for a while. “Let's forget about that then,” he waved his hand like he was dismissing the topic. “Good, Mr. Watson,” I said and turned to leave. “I'm not done talking yet,” he said and reached for me, bloc

Drake's POVI didn't waste time in signing the partnership deal with Avatar Inc. At first I had thought that something shady would have been in the document that had been sent to me, but it turned out to be as clear as it could be and was supposed to be. Days slowly passed after we made our partnership known to the government and officials. Just as both of us had thought it was a good idea and a reason to keep us going in this deal. We were on par with the legacy companies that way. We made it past the remaining stages in peace until the last one, where the people who got the contract would be called. The government decided to make it an official announcement, more like a press conference combined with the announcement. Not every single person competing for the deal had been called forth; only those that made it to the top three were called forth. A news lady approached me with a mic held in her right hand and a cameraman following her closely behind. She stopped right in fron
