Adam's POV:

The second I walked into the suite, I knew this was going to be a problem.

Hannah had gone straight into the bedroom, leaving me standing in the middle of a room that looked like it had been designed for newlyweds, not two people trying their hardest to avoid each other.

One bedroom.

One giant bed.

A living room that already looked like it hated me.

I let out a slow breath and muttered under my breath, Figures.

Knocking softly, I called through the door, “Hannah, I’ll take the couch. You take the bed.”

Her muffled voice came back immediately, stubborn and sharp. “No need. I’ll take the couch.”

I shook my head, already stepping away. “Not happening.”

Without waiting for her answer, I dropped my bag near the sofa and sat down, leaning back. It wasn’t comfortable, but at least it kept me out of her space. I closed my eyes, trying to settle. But after a minute, the silence started to eat at me. This suite was huge—living room, a tiny lounge area, even a terrace—but there was n

Adam's POV:It was morning when I woke up on the couch, the dull light of the morning filtering through the window. My phone lay in my palm, and for a moment, I had to remember where I was. Last night had been a disaster. After sending Hannah those flowers and eagerly waiting for her response, all I received was silence. The text I'd hoped would break the ice never came, and my heart sank when I realized I had drifted off without hearing from her. Then my phone rang.“Please let it be her,” I muttered, squinting as I checked my phone, hoping for even a flicker of life that suggested she had reached out. Just my luck—my assistant's voice buzzed through the receiver instead, pulling me back to reality.“Sir, your 8am is on his way,” she informed me. I groaned, pushing my hair back, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. “I'll be there soon,” I replied, ending the call with a sigh. I tossed my phone onto the couch, frustration boiling beneath my skin. Hannah really didn't call, not

Hannah's POV:“This partnership would benefit both of us,” I said, adjusting myself in the soft leather chair that cradled me like a well-loved friend. I straightened my back, embracing the confident energy I always tried to exude in meetings. Across from me sat Josh, his brow slightly furrowed as he listened intently. Usually, I could read Josh like an open book. Today, however, his expression was unreadable, shrouded in contemplation that made my heart race.I took a deep breath, trying to keep my composure. “With the spotlight on me after winning that competition, I can bring in investors and collaborators who could skyrocket whatever project we decide to focus on,” I continued, locking my gaze on his. It felt good to lay out my thoughts clearly. “And with your experienced workers and the already built momentum you've got, us together would make for one unstoppable force.”In the back of my mind, I was proud of my persuasive skills. I’d had to develop them at a young age, especiall

Hannah's POV:Today was the day I had planned to meet Josh. If I wanted to win the bet with Maria, I knew I had to take action. Maria wasn't going to play fair; after all, she had already pulled a sneaky move by buying off all my staff. But this was my game too, and I wasn't about to let anyone walk all over me.I tied my hair back into a ponytail, grabbed my bag and car keys, and headed out of my room. The moment I slammed the door shut behind me, my eyes landed on Lenora's door right across the hallway. I moved closer and knocked.“Come in,” Lenora’s voice came from inside.I pushed the door open and entered her room. It was cozy, filled with soft light that filtered through the curtains. There she was, sitting up on her bed with her head leaning against the headboard, a book held loosely in her hands.“Hey, how's the report going?” I asked, standing at the center of the room, scanning the space as I spoke.Lenora shrugged her shoulders and took a shallow breath. “I’m writing down a

Hannah's POV: It was a crisp evening when I called Josh. I asked him to meet the next day so we could discuss a business idea I had. He had agreed. With that settled, I drove home early, keen to shake off the haze of my first day at work. It had been mostly about settling in, going through endless files of documents—mails, memos, financial statements—doing my best to understand where the company stood. As the car hummed along the array of blurred buildings on the streets, mixed feelings washed over me. I knew my return was met with unresolved issues, but for now, I wanted to focus on my work and this meeting with Josh.Arriving home, I was fortunate not to bump into any one, I really didn't have the mental grace for anyone right now. I dashed upstairs, took a shower, and felt the warmth of the water wash away my stress. After getting dressed, I made my way to Lenora’s room.Swinging open the door, I was met with an empty bed. “Lenora!” I called out, my voice echoing in the silence. T

Hannah's POV:I stood in front of my mirror, the morning sun filtering through the curtains, casting a soft glow across my face. The coolness of the foundation felt nice against my skin as I applied it lightly, just enough to enhance what I already had. My hair cascaded down in gentle, wavy locks, framing my face beautifully. A swipe of rosy lipstick completed my look. I didn’t want to overdo it; I never had to. I was confident in my own skin, but today was special—it was my first day at the company branch my father had entrusted to me.I took a deep breath as I walked over to my wardrobe. I needed to look sharp, to command respect and authority. My eyes scanned the hangers, and at the very end, I caught sight of it: the black suit. I pulled it out, running my fingers over the smooth fabric. Memories flooded my mind—Adam had bought this suit for me when I first moved into his house to start working with Josh. Back then, I had nothing but oversized coats and baggy suits because Hayes h

Maria's POV:I sat on my king-sized bed, my fingers nervously tapping around the cool screen of my phone. Hannah's smug face when she challenged me with the bet played in my head and had me fuming, and it was hard to shake that feeling off. “She is underestimating me,” I said, biting my lips as I stood up and paced around the room. My voice, usually steady, now came out in a rush, thick with frustration. “You should have seen the way she said it, like I was an ant trying to challenge an elephant. Like I stood no chance.”Hayes's voice crackled through the phone, steady and confident. “That’s Hannah for you, very proud. We will have to make her regret it. We’ll show her just because she won the tech competition doesn't mean she'll win this.” His tone was invigorating, almost like a rallying cry. “She might have won the battle, but we will win the war.”Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down. “Let's meet at our usual spot in the evening. I have a plan; we must win this bet n
