Chapter 4 Reap the fruit of their labour

"Cheers, let's toast to Elsie who finally gets rid of her misery!"

Sid suggested, and Elsie did not hesitate, ready to pick up the glass and drink, but Aires grabbed the glass from her hand and replaced it with a glass of soda.

Sid looked at him strangely, Aires realized that he was too abrupt, his face immediately turned red, he hurriedly explained, "Elsie, it's been a long time since I drank, the alcohol concentration here is too high, I'm worried that you will get drunk in a while, next we have to talk about Elsie accepting the company, don't we?"

Elsie saw Aires' handsome face covered with red, she thought he was too cute, she couldn't help but touch him with her hand, but before she could reach out her hand, a bottle flew in her direction. Aires saw it and hurriedly pulled Elsie into his arms, the bottle hit the wall behind them and broke into pieces.

Elsie looked up and realised it was Dwight, Oswald's brother. Dwight is not considered a villain, he always rescued her when his mother scolded him, although the rescue was rude, but after five years of living together, she knew Dwight was not a bad person, he respected his brother, the behavior just now, he must have misunderstood something.

Sure enough, he said angrily,

"How dare you cheat on my brother? How could you act this way in between two men when you are married to Oswald?"

As he was speaking, Aires stood up to teach him a lesson but Elsie pulled him back down and explained to Dwight,

"Dwight, I'm sorry for not informing you but your brother and I are divorced now. If you had gone home right from school before coming here, you would have realized my absence."

"What do you mean? Divorce?" Dwight said incredulously.

Dwight brushed his palm on his messy hair and his young handsome face looked hurt. He looked lonely as he stood there glaring at Elsie speechless. Aires doesn't believe that Dwight is sad to see her go because he never said so.

She didn't want anything to do with crofts, including seeing them, and the divorce she was sure Oswald would explain to him, and she returned to her glass of wine.

But Dwight looked so hurt and angry that, he angrily approached Elsie, "Why do you treat marriage so flippantly! Or did you really marry him just for my brother's money, as they say?"

Aires was upset at his rudeness and stepped between her and Dwight, Sid followed suit and stood up, he believed Elsie did not want to make a big deal out of it.

He persuaded Dwight with a smile."Hey young man, your brother brought up the divorce, if you don't believe me, you can call your brother now."

But Dwight pushed Sid away, Sid was not prepared, and he fell on the couch.

Aires approached him again angrily, but diwght was not at all afraid of his threats, he gave him a provocative look and once again turned his gaze to Elsie and said sarcastically, "So you found an other rich now right?"

Elsie was angry at his humiliation, he knew very well what kind of life she was living in that home, no one in the crofts family was in a position to blame her for her choices.

"To hell with you! Nothing I do has anything to do with your family anymore, and if you really want to make a scene, I'm sure my friends will be happy to teach you a lesson for me!"

Aires hurriedly gave a wink to his bodyguards, who immediately walked towards Dwight.

"I hope you don't regret it, Elsie!" Dwight angrily walked out, and as he left, he provocatively bumped Aires' shoulder.

Aires just wanted to teach him a lesson, Elsie stopped him and said to him,

"Leave him be, he is just lonely. That family is torn apart with everyone caring for themselves only. They forgotten that the youngster needed to be taken care of."

Elsie immediately ran to Sid, she said apologetically,"Sid, are you okay?"

Sid waved his hand and snickered,"I'm fine, it seems your dedication in this home is still seen, I can see this little guy still can't let you go, I noticed when you said divorce, he had a betrayed look."

Elise thought it didn't matter, that Dwight was probably just uncomfortable with his change of maids and not really concerned about her leaving.

She remembered what they had come to the bar to discuss.

Elise looked at Sid."Sid, how's the matter of my father's financial crimes that I explained you to look into earlier?"

Sid's expression also returned to seriousness, he nodded and scratched the screen, he pointed to the information inside and said,"I noticed that your father's death is related to Tess's father."

"Because before your father's death, Tess's father was assigned to be an executive of your father's company, and he is now the second largest owner of shares in your father's company, with the other half in the hands of a mystery man. That mystery man's shares are important if you want your father's company back, but unfortunately I still haven't found out who he is."

Elsie thought of Tess's father who had wronged her. Was he trying to kill her with the same way of dealing with her father?

And who was the mystery man?
