3. Ruthless Alpha She Ever Known

Amerta's head was very dizzy as her eyes opened slowly. The light shone sharply into her eyes until Amerta needed to blink repeatedly to adapt to the situation around her.

Is she dead?

Why did it feel like Amerta had just had a very bad dream?

"Argh, it hurts so much..." Amerta groaned as her whole body ached. Once her eyelids fully opened, Amerta was confused. "What is this place? Where am I?"

Surrounding Amerta is a small patch of dull, dark gray walls and a very small light bulb. Nothing but a long wooden stool with no back and arms. Above the bench are two chains hanging from small hangers that dangle to the cement tiles here.

It took Amerta a split second to digest the current situation. Amerta was still in her position until she heard the sound of footsteps echoing.

Amerta's gaze shifted to the side. She gasped after seeing the iron door of the prison. A man she didn't recognize stood in front of the prison's iron door, as if he were opening a padlock.

Amrita furrowed her brows.

After the iron door of the prison opened, the man who entered was a little surprised to realize that Amerta had woken up. The man remained motionless for a moment, then sighed awkwardly.

"Ah, it turns out you're awake."

Amerta watched this man from head to toe. As the stranger's steps approached, Amerta inched backwards.

"Who are you?" The question of pointing at Amerta immediately came out.

"Wait, don't be afraid yet," said the man, then stopped three steps in front of Amerta. "I am Leofric Morcant, a beta wolf in this kingdom."

Kingdom?

Amrita was confused and could not answer anything. So she's not dead? Was last night's incident... a reality?!

Instantly Amerta's body jerked trembling, moving backwards until her back hit the wall. The image of the sight of the three heads before her falling unconscious replayed in her brain. The atmosphere of chaos, the screams of pain, and the last smile Alpha Alvrada gave her before being beheaded ...

"No way," Amerta said softly, "I'm not dreaming?"

Leo frowned seeing Amerta suddenly frightened. Though he hasn't said anything yet. Last night, Leo had heard that the Alpha Black Moon—his pack had brought a woman who would become his mate.

After the ceremony of handing over the Alpha title to Alpha Fredico, he ordered Leo to take this woman to the underground kingdom prison. Leo hadn't spoken much to this woman because last night had been so heartbreaking.

"Are you from an enemy kingdom? To kidnap me?!" accused Amerta who looked at Leo with trepidation. "Alpha King Argos... who... ordered you?"

Leo couldn't say anything after hearing Amerta's pointed question. Seeing Amerta's frightened figure reminded him of last night's incident, when he and Alpha Fred heard news of the chaos of a pack being attacked by enemies.

When Leo and Alpha Fred came to the scene of the chaos, they found that only Amerta was left. Nothing can be saved anymore.

"No, not him," Leo replied gently. He held out one hand. "Calm yourself first. This isn't the Alpha Argos empire you mentioned just now."

"Then, this... what kingdom?" asked Amrita in a low voice.

"Kingdom of Alvrada, the kingdom under me."

It wasn't Leo who answered.

Amerta and Leo simultaneously looked back. At that time, another man—whose body was more muscular and clad in formal royal attire entered the room this patch. His gaze was very sharp. The intimidating aura was so thick when his steps approached Amerta.

"Alpha Fredico," called Leo who immediately stood up and gave a brief bow. "Your Luna has woken up. I was about to feed her."

Amerta watched this man who was called Alpha Fredico. In contrast to Leo, Alpha Fredico didn't smile at all. He ignored Leo's words and focused on Amerta's eyes.

"Have you forgotten what happened last night?" asked Alpha Fredico, then slowly took a step forward and crouched down. "Amerta, you are in my kingdom now."

Still unable to say anything, Amerta inched backwards. Alpha Fredico's eyes narrowed sharply at him.

"Alpha Fredico," Amerta spelled the Alpha's name, "w-why... did you bring me?"

Alpha Fredico reached out to hold Amerta's chin. He gripped Amerta's cheeks tightly to prevent her from looking away.

"To make you be my mate," Alpha Fredico answered briefly.

Amerta winced because Alpha Fredico's grip made her cheek hurt. He couldn't speak at all. Until finally Alpha Fredico let go of his grip by slamming Amerta's face.

"To be your mate?" asked Amrita in a trembling voice. "No! I am Alpha Alvrada's mate. I will not be your mate."

Alpha Fredico laughed sarcastically. It was only brief, but his grin was still curved.

"Your lover is dead, remember?"

No, Alpha Alvrada is not dead. What happened last night was just a bad dream. Amerta shook her head, unable to accept Alpha Fredico's words.

"I saved you. You're the only one left. You should have to thanks me."

Instantly Amerta lunged at Alpha Fredico and grabbed him by the collar. With a look of trepidation and fear, she eyed Alpha Fredico suspiciously.

"Why did you make me your mate, huh?" asked Amrita emphatically.

Amerta's sudden action surprised Leo. When he was just about to approach, Alpha Fredico gave a hand signal to Leo not to come closer.

Leo backed away. But his gaze was worried for Amerta—more precisely for Alpha Fredico.

"I will not be your mate because I love Alpha Alvrada," emphasized Amerta giving a warning.

Alpha Fredico looked at the grip of Amerta's hands on his neck. Getting louder, but shaking. His smile grew interested.

"Rebel. You really don't know how to thanks me," replied Alpha Fredico.

Amrita's brows furrowed. A second later, without further ado, Alpha Fredico's hand swung violently to slap Amerta's face. A strong jolt of energy made Amerta's face immediately crash to the side.

"Alpha! Please stop!" Leo immediately approached Alpha Fredico and held the Alpha's hand.

"Stop it, there will be a meeting of the royal family after this. Don't hurt her," Leo said again, giving a subtle warning.

Alpha Fredico hissed while waving his hot palms. He looked at Amrita with contempt.

"You'd better be careful with me," Alpha Fredico threatened in a low and sharp tone.

Amerta still held her cheek in awe. In all his life, she had never felt a slap from anyone, including Alpha Alvrada—her boyfriend. sensation of heat and pain on her cheeks now was painful, just like the feeling of worthlessness welling up in her heart.

"Do you need to slap me?" asked Amerta without looking at Alpha Fredico.

"I can give you something worse than a slap."

When Amerta's gaze turned to Alpha Fredico, making eye contact for a moment, Amerta knew that this figure in front of her didn't deserve to be her mate. Alpha Fredico's figure resembles Uncle Gobert.

"You don't need to feed this woman," said Alpha Fredico to Leo, but his gaze was fixed on Amerta. "Prepare her for the royal family meeting. Make her as pretty as possible."

After saying that, Alpha Fredico immediately turned around to walk away from Amerta and Leo. But his steps stopped when Amerta said something.

"I'll never said thank you for saving me."

Alpha Fredico didn't flinch without looking back. Amerta's words seeped into his mind. Only up to a matter of seconds, then Alpha Fredico laughed sarcastically.

"You'll wish you never said your words, Sweetie."

Then, Alpha Fredico continued his steps followed by Leo, leaving the atmosphere of this dungeon room. Leaving Amerta who doesn't understand what the Alpha's words mean.

After there was no one else in this prison room, Amerta leaned back. Her gaze wavered in the direction of Alpha Fredico and Leo's departure.

Does the nightmare never end?
