Because of my negligence, Leo's precious darling Sophia had choked on a mouthful of seawater. He flew into a rage and locked me in the dark water dungeon. "Catherine, whatever Sophia suffered, you'll repay double!" The instinct to survive forced me to shift into wolf form. I slammed my head against the iron cage again and again, begging for his mercy. But Leo bound my limbs with iron chains and ordered his subordinates to keep flooding the chamber. "A jealous wretch like you will only learn obedience through suffering." "Stay in there and repent for what you've done." He sealed the iron door of the water dungeon himself and forbade anyone from coming near. Over and over, I craned my neck to gulp in the thin air, howling in desperation. But the rising ice water swallowed me whole. I kept struggling until I had no strength left. A week later, in his great mercy, he decided to end my punishment. What he didn't know was that the water snakes had already gnawed my body beyond recognition.

Chapter 1

"Where's Catherine? Why hasn't she come to find me since getting out?"

"Isn't she the best at playing the victim for sympathy? Why isn’t she begging for sympathy this time? Has she actually learned her lesson?"

Leo's subordinate paled, choosing his words with care:

"Alpha... the Luna, she... she doesn't seem to have come out yet."

A flicker of worry surfaced in Leo's wolf eyes, but it vanished in an instant, replaced by cold indifference:

"Catherine's has quite the backbone, doesn’t she? Then let her stay in there and reflect some more!"

His subordinate hesitated before speaking:

"But there hasn't been any sound from the Luna's water dungeon for days, and there's a terrible stench coming from it. Would you... like to take a look?"

Leo waved it off:

"What's the panic? Catherine's just playing the victim, trying to make me go soft and let her out."

"Relax—she's the strongest swimmer in the pack. This little punishment is nothing to her. Besides, after being locked up this long, a bit of waste in the water is perfectly normal."

His subordinate tried to speak again but was cut off with an impatient wave:

"Enough. Take the Tears of the Moon Goddess necklace to Sophia—consider it my apology for what Catherine did to her."

"Don't bother with Catherine. I'll let her out today. As long as she's willing to bow her head, admit her fault, and sincerely beg Sophia for forgiveness, I'll pardon her."

Knock, knock!

The door was rapped.

Without waiting for Leo's permission, Sophia pushed it open and walked straight in.

Leo's irritation vanished instantly. His gaze turned so tender it could melt.

"Sophia, the healer said you still need rest. Why did you come all this way?"

Sophia approached and nestled into Leo's arms, her face pale and delicate as she gave a fragile smile:

"Alpha, I'm feeling much better now. The Luna's been punished for days—surely she's learned her lesson. Let's give her another chance to redeem herself."

"If something happened to her, I'd never forgive myself."

As she spoke, a single glistening tear slid down her cheek.

Leo immediately wiped it away, his voice carrying the absolute authority of an Alpha command.

"Sophia, Catherine nearly killed you, and you're still pleading on her behalf. If only that jealous woman had half your kindness."

"Don't worry. When she comes out, I'll make her kneel before you and apologize."

Watching their loving act, I let out a quiet laugh from behind them—but no one noticed.

After all, I was already dead. How could I possibly kneel before Sophia to apologize?

In the final moment before the lethal wolfsbane killed me, my soul drifted free of the flooded dungeon.

From struggling so hard, my limbs had been shredded raw by the heavy shackles, crimson blood dissolving into the surrounding ice water.

Those hideous venomous snakes coiled around my body, feeding with abandon.

The entire dungeon had turned the color of blood—a gruesome, bone-chilling sight.

I hovered above, unable to bear even a glance at my own body hanging from the chains.
