Chapter 3

The situation at the amusement park quickly grew chaotic, and the camera started shaking violently.

Camilla rushed forward, screaming, "Nico!"

Giulio's expression also hardened as he scooped Nico up. "Call an ambulance!"

Even the announcer's voice sounded panicked as he reported, "A sudden emergency has occurred! The child seems to be suffering from a severe allergic reaction and is showing signs of respiratory distress…"

On the screen, Nico's lips had turned purple. His breathing was shallow and strained. He was clearly on the verge of running out of oxygen.

Giulio dashed toward the park exit with Nico in his arms, while Camilla cried uncontrollably, her entire body trembling as she clung tightly to his arm.

For a brief moment, the hospital corridor fell into silence.

I had no time to care about what was happening on the TV. I could only hold the heartbroken Romina tightly, comforting her over and over again.

Unexpectedly, she only cried for a short while before stopping. She voluntarily asked to be wheeled into the operating room. Then, she calmly said to me, "I'm not upset, Mommy. Since Daddy likes another child more, we don't want him anymore, okay?"

My tears fell again as I nodded. "Yes, whatever you say. Once the surgery is over, we'll leave this place!"

I watched as Romina was injected with anesthesia. Once her eyes closed, I exhaled and relaxed a little.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of urgent braking of vehicles coming from outside the hospital.

Several black cars stopped right in front of the hospital entrance, the bodyguards rushing out first to clear a path.

At the very next second, Giulio dashed into the hospital carrying the unconscious Nico.

"Where are the doctors? Arrange for emergency treatment at once!" His voice boomed across the entire hospital lobby, almost shaking the walls.

Dr. Marino and a few other chief physicians hurried forward and led them to the emergency room. Out in the corridor, things became rather chaotic as well.

At that moment, Dr. Bruno was just about to enter the operating room when Camilla suddenly rushed toward him, her eyes red.

"Dr. Bruno! Please save Nico first. Nothing must happen to him… I can't let anything happen to him…"

Frowning, Dr. Bruno explained, "The child seems to be suffering from an acute allergic reaction. The team at the emergency room is already prepared to treat—"

"But you're the best doctor in the world! Giulio has already said that Nico must be saved no matter what!"

Tears streamed down Camilla's face as she clutched Dr. Bruno's white coat tightly.

Dr. Marino also hastened forward to say in a quiet voice, "Dr. Bruno, perhaps you should check on the boy first."

Dr. Brown's brows knitted even harder. "I can't. My patient is already on the operating table. I must proceed with the surgery immediately—"

At that moment, Giulio strode over. His suit was disheveled, and his breathing uneven. The usually composed and aloof Don of the Panzeri family was now beside himself with anxiety.

"Save Nico first," he said without even bothering to look at Romina or me.

Dr. Bruno wanted to protest, but two burly bodyguards had already stepped forward and forcibly escorted him toward the emergency room.

My entire body went cold, the chill spreading to my limbs. I desperately ran forward to stop them.

"My daughter is still on the operating table! You can't take Dr. Bruno away!"

The bodyguards shoved me aside coldly without even slowing down.

"Don Giulio's son is suffering from a sudden allergic reaction. All the doctors in the hospital must assist in his treatment. Don't get in our way. You won't be able to bear the consequences of offending Don Giulio!"

"Don't be ridiculous! My daughter is Giulio Panzeri's biological daughter! If you're the reason why she dies, he'll come after you!" I screamed as I tried again to block their path with my petite body.

The bodyguards hesitated. They couldn't be sure if I was telling the truth.

Feeling a rush of joy, I reached out to grab Dr. Bruno, only to be shoved straight to the floor.

Camilla had turned back, and she'd brought along two bodyguards who cut me off from both sides.

I crawled over to her and begged, "You can have Giulio, Camilla. Just let me take Dr. Bruno with me, please?"

She looked down at me. The pain and sorrow in her eyes earlier had now been replaced by smug satisfaction.

"I thought you loved pretending to be generous, Alessia. I'm sure you won't be upset that I'm taking your daughter's surgeon away, right? After all, to Giulio, my son is far more important than your daughter!"

The moment she finished speaking, a nurse rushed out of the operating room in panic. "The patient's blood oxygen is falling! Her pulse is weakening! Where's the doctor?"
