The grand living room of the Hudson family felt dark and tense and pressed with heavy air, even though it was New Year's Eve.

The mansion was illuminated with the finest lighting, the chandelier had changed yesterday into a more beautiful one, a big diamond-cut glass hanging from it. The Hudson family knew how to adorn the mansion exquisitely for events.

But the atmosphere in the mansion was pressed by tension, and it intensified when the weeping of a woman drifted into the big space.

"Kayden, this is not true! Someone is deliberately deceiving you. People have their eyes on our relationship always, you know that," Clove said between her weeps. She had never thought her husband would deny the baby in her womb.

"Oh, come on! Enough of your tears. These cannot sway me. Nothing from your mouth will be trusted by me or my family again. And I will never forgive you for causing harm to my grandmother," Kayden spat with a furious tone. Simultaneously, his hand kept bleeding because earlier, in anger, he had shattered the mirror by punching it.

"No. I did not do anything.. Grandmother went to meet…” Clove intended to clarify how his grandmother got hurt, but her words were cut short by her stepsister.

" Kay, I can't stand the sight of blood anymore. You must be in pain. Please, let me wrap your hand now," said Cindy with her squealing voice as she approached Kayden, who had his glare on Clove.

His hate in his eyes was so intense that if Clove were not pregnant, he would have killed her with his bare hands.

"Stay away from him, Cindy. Stop giving so much care to someone else's husband. I know you just want to take advantage of the disagreement between us. I won't let that happen. Get out of this house," Clove warned Cindy, who although had tears in her eyes, the pure triumphant smile she was unable to hide from Clove.

Cindy was her stepsister. Her father got married again after her mother's death.

Although she had fought a lot with her father, in the end, her father got married for the second time against her wishes, which she later accepted.

However, slowly she understood it was her father's worst decision because the woman he married had not come into their lives to add meaning to their days; rather, she concocted plans one after another to separate her from her father.

"You cannot tell who to stay or leave," Mrs. Hudson interrupted the conversation, "Cindy is our Beloved girl, and to me, she deserves to be Kayden’s wife more than you."

"How can you say this to me? I'm caring for your grandchild," Clove hurtfully said to the mother-in-law.

Simultaneously, she cried out, "Ahh!" Her hand reached for her belly. The more she cried, the more she felt a stabbing pain in her abdomen. She was three months pregnant. As a result, even a little bit of anxiety and tension was causing her more pain.

"The truth is in front of everyone. The child you are carrying is not Hudson's family. My son was a fool to trust you so blindly, but now he could see with his own eyes. The deception you reward him for his love and faithfulness is unforgivable," Mrs. Hudson said with a disgusted tone, and Clove's heart stiffened at her words. So, she turned her head to Kayden and wanted to ask why he was not able to trust her today.

But her words remained confined to her lips only as she heard her mother-in-law say, "Cindy, help my son. I am unable to watch so much blood. I knew beforehand that once he realized what kind of person his wife is, he could not control his anger, but harming himself is not an option."

"Okay, aunt!" Cindy politely replied with a nod before moving over to Kayden, who did not refuse Cindy's touch and allowed her to bandage his hand.

He knew Cindy's nature and her evil intentions very well, yet today, Kayden did not push her away from him and let her touch him. Seeing that, Clove clutched her fist and decided to try hard to save her relationship. Hence, she wiped her tears away and rushed to Kayden to hug him.

She knew if she and Kayden talked alone about all this, there would be a chance that she could prove her innocence.

"Kayden..." Clove extended her hand to wrap her arm around him. But Kayden stepped aside to avoid her. At the time, Clove felt that someone had stepped on her dress as she felt a tug.

She hadn't thought much about the consequences, but when she saw Kayden move away from her, and she lost her balance, a chill ran down her spine because there was nothing she could hold to stop her from falling.

Her hands hovered in the space as her body leaned forward to meet a dangerous end.

"Kay!" Clove's horror-filled tone called Kayden, who, realising what was about to happen, moved forward to catch his wife. But it was too late by then.

Clove, losing control, fell to the ground with her belly on, a bone-crushing pain surged through her entire body as a sharp cry tore from her throat, "My baby!" She had her hands cradling her stomach as if her touch alone could shield the life inside her.

"Help, my baby!" Her faint voice asked for help, not for her, but for her child. The terror took over the pain as her lips parted to gasp. She could already feel something slipping away.

"Oh my god! Call 911!"

The voices drifted to Clove's ear, but she was not able to raise her head. Slowly, her vision got blurred, thickened by a shadow that came to a stop next to her. She felt two hands wrapped around her, and she was picked up from the ground.

"My baby!" The desperate urge made her way out of her lips, before her world narrowed to the ache blossoming through her. The next moment, she fainted, her tear-stained face leaving nothing but evidence of her innocence.

★★★★★ Clover stared at the number for a few seconds before picking up the call, "I cannot believe my eyes that you call me, especially after what I did in the house." "You can be ungrateful, but I cannot. I-I am your father if you have forgotten by any chance after staying away for a long time," the gruff voice spoke on the call. It sounded pissed than ever. "Hah!" A slight chukle left from Clover's mouth. "It's late, Dad. So tell me what sort of deal you are looking forward to offering." "Come home and stay with us. Since you are in the town, we will be ridiculed by society and various industries, and I am unable to hold my family together. No matter what happened tonight, we can still sort out our misunderstanding and start to live like a family." "I am impressed. Is this really you, or has your kind wife forced you to take some potion to humble you?" Clover mocked without holding back. "Clove... be care...f.." Before Clover's father could finish his warning, Clover jabbed her

★★★★★"I... I don't understand!" Kayden moved uncomfortably in his chair."Did I speak a foreign language, or are you too far from me to hear what I said?" Joshua added as he turned completely around, his sharp eyes landing straight on Kayden, who felt a chill run down his spine."No..." Kayden shook his head, "I heard you clearly, but I don't understand why you have asked it since I don't have any reason to be jealous or angry." He was not truly close to Joshua, but admired his stance and intellect, which was the reason behind the soaring success of the Hudson industry."You are my uncle and I didn't want to smear your reputation or make you feel bad because of the people who used to be related to me," Kayden replied with a humble tone. He shifted a little to his side because he felt something poking him in the bottom."You are a good man, Kay. But sometimes the goodness shouldn't be the dark patch in a relationship that has just begun. About Clover Hastings," Joshua's furrow smoothe

★★★★★"What does he think of himself?" Clover muttered under her breath as she walked on the same path she had taken earlier to face the man she was nervous about, but now she was pissed that she had been on her best behaviour.Since she was lost cursing the man in her head, she did not notice a family figure heading her way. Her eyes were lowered, and her lips curled into bitter rage. As she was about to collide with the person, her phone rang, sharp and loud, which eventually brought her back to reality, and she saw Kayden stop right in front of her.Her expression turned cold, and she quickly stepped away from the middle of the path, moving slightly to the side. She tried to cross him without sharing a single word, but it was not the same thing Kayden had in his head.He said with a deep tone, "If you can stop your phone from ringing, we can have words."In response, Clover put her hand into her bag and brought out her phone, but instead of stopping the ringing, she took the call a

★★★★ "Mom, it feels like I have wrapped up a war instead of my engagement party. I cannot imagine my day has been ruined like this right under my nose," Cindy cried, her hand balled into fists on her lap, eyes straight with blazing anger. "Forgive me, dear. Whatever happened at the party was because of me," Zona looked at her daughter with remorseful eyes, "If I had known that bitch would create such Chaos at your party, I would never have suggested your father invite her." She went forward to touch Cindy's head to calm her down. But before her fingers could graze Cindy's hair, Cindy jerked her head back, swatted the hand away as if it were poison. Zona froze, her face collapsed into raw disappointment. "Oh, you know it just as well as I do. Dad is not the one at fault here. Rather the entire disaster is the Masterpiece of your brilliant intelligence," Cindy said, turning her head at Zona with complete anger on her face. "You decided to invite her here to humiliate her. So th

★★★★"You were absent for so many years," Joshua raised one brow, and the coldness on his face deepened. "How did you suddenly decide to come back?"Clover relaxed her spine, parted her lips to answer, but her words were cut short by Joshua again, "I am not forcing you to answer, but I cannot let go of my curiosity to hear you speaking of the intention.""Since the divorce happened, I didn't find any reason to stay here," Clover replied, keeping her gaze on Joshua.Somewhere she had an idea that whenever Kayden's family met her, they would definitely bring up this topic, and it did not matter to her to say anything about it because she had divorced him."You must have got over the divorce, that is why you decided to return, or your heart suddenly started to throb for your parents," Joshua's tone left a mocking feeling for Clover, who would no longer feel like she could be polite with him anymore even though all she was doing was to respect him because he was an elder."I don't feel co

  • After the CEO's Divorce, I became his uncle's bride   where did I go wrong?

★★★★★ "Miss Hastings, I hope you have not faced any hassle reaching here," Hardin said with a polite smile to Clover. "Being his assistant must be hard, no matter how well he paid!" Clover said, returning the smile. "Is that because I am in his house at this godly hour?" Hardin asked, not getting offended as the smile did not leave his lips. "No, seeing your boss's sincerity for the deal for which he chose to meet me instead of closing his eyes at this 'Godly' hour, I tried to feel your thoughts," Clover pressed on Godly. Standing behind her, Jemma looked down and smiled, but she did not let her voice crack. She believed the assistant was sensible and mature enough to understand what Clover actually meant. "Thank you for these kind words," Hardin replied, then moved to a side, showing off where Clover should head. If his boss were not impatient to meet Miss Hastings, he would probably enjoy another moment to talk to her. 'since a woman being this sarcastic is rare.' Hardin thoug
