LOGIN★★★★ Eight years later "Did you check the papers before handing them to Tennyson?" Clover coldly spoke on the call, clutching her fist tightly as she walked through the lobby. The anger and power on her face were so clear that people walking around her felt intimidated. They maintained a fair distance as they walked past her. "Boss, I was swamped, and Jenny wanted to be seen by you. I know it is my mistake that is why I am requesting you to give me at least a couple of hours, and I promise you, I will make everything right," Mark hurriedly spoke, wishing his boss to forgive him once. To this day, he came to know his boss liked the perfection to be held up more than anything else. But what Jenny did was a big blunder. There were a couple of faults in the agreement, which was why it was sent to the upper board for modification, but Jenny thought sending the files to the Tennyson company by herself would give her the light she had been looking for since she joined the Hastings company. "I do respect your promise but I love my deals more. I'm giving you six hours to make things right and arrange a meeting with the CEO of Tennyson tomorrow," said Clover, pressing the card onto the door lock and the room opened. She went inside and threw the shoulder bag onto the bed. "Right away, boss!" Mark replied and was about to cut the call when Clover interrupted, "Mark, I… I want you to announce my arrival!" "What?" Came a surprise reply from Mark, " “Weren't you warned not to tell the media or anyone about your arrival in Manhattan?" Mark repeated what he had been warned about earlier. "I had thought so, but it seems that I will have to announce my arrival now. So make this possible within a few hours," Clover replied with a sluggish tone as if she was forced to take this step while a strong unwillingness had her voice clogged. "Boss, are you okay? Is there any problem?" Mark further added. Clover decided to be in Manhattan for a week just for the deal with Tennyson. Even though wherever her Boss went made the front page in the following day's newspaper, this time she made it clear by no means that the security of her in Manhattan could be taken lightly. "Yes, I am fine, Mark. I have been summoned by my family. They informed me that my father is not well, and he wants to meet me," Clover replied. "How come they find out about your whereabouts?" "I don't know, but I feel like I have been monitored twenty-four hours by someone since the day I walked out of the airport. I cannot quite pinpoint who and why I feel that, but my intuition has never failed me," Clover explained her trepidation to Mark, who was the only person right now who knew a majority of things about Clover. "Why didn't you tell me all this before?" Mark said, "Alright, I am working on this too, but first, I will have to check your security once again. Until then, don't go out." "This is not possible since I am heading out for my home this evening," Clover paused. "Alright, as you want," Mark said. Even though he wanted his boss not to go to her house right at that moment, his boss would do whatever she decided. "But take care that your phone should never be switched off at any cost," Mark alerted Clover. "Hmmm...Call the designer and arrange a dress for me," Clover said and cut the call, leaving Mark to have so many questions in his head because he could feel his boss was hiding something. Meanwhile, Clover dialled another number as she sat at the edge of the bed. "Damn it! What is wrong with you? Why do I no longer have any information about you? It's been eight years since you disappeared without any trace," Clover muttered, holding her phone in her hand, and the call was disconnected again. "My war is about to begin. I really need to talk to you." Clover pursed her lips and placed her phone on the mattress before stretching her body onto it. She knew her father was in better health, but she had to pretend to be blind. Last night, she let herself be exposed to her stepmother, who happened to be shopping in a mall. Clover knew her stepmother was going to follow her. Hence, she deliberately left her number at a clothing showroom. And just as she thought, her father called her the same night and pleaded with her to come home. ‘I can’t wait to start what I am here for!’ Clover’s eyes narrowed coldly to the space, and a firm intention was displayed on her expression. At that moment, the bell of the door rang, and Clover got up from the bed and walked to the door. She saw a woman, holding two dresses for her. It left her utterly confused because she had just asked Mark to send her the dress. Then how did he send it so quickly? It hadn't even been half an hour yet. "Yes!" Clover responded. "These are for you," said the woman and shoved the dresses into Clover's hands. "Who sent these dresses, and who are you?" Clover asked to confirm whether she was sent by Mark. Apart from that, the girl standing in front of her did not look like a helper or any employee of this hotel at all. "Have a good day, Madam!" The girl said, adding a smile at the end before turning around and walking away. Clover frowned, standing at the door, still as she watched the girl go into the elevator. The doubts she had about this dress appeared to be correct. So, she shut the door and placed the dresses on the couch before grabbing the phone. She dialled Mark and asked him about her dresses, and he told her he was still looking for a designer in Manhattan. Hearing that, Clover looked over her shoulder to the couch and said, "You don't have to send any dresses." "Okay!" Mark said. Clover cut the call and turned around, placing both her hands on her waist. Then she went ahead to the couch and touched the dresses. The fabric in her fingers felt the quality of the gowns. “Who sent them?” She muttered, “Besides, why were all the party gowns?” Clover's eyes narrowed dangerously.
★★★★★ Clover stared at the number for a few seconds before picking up the call, "I cannot believe my eyes that you call me, especially after what I did in the house." "You can be ungrateful, but I cannot. I-I am your father if you have forgotten by any chance after staying away for a long time," the gruff voice spoke on the call. It sounded pissed than ever. "Hah!" A slight chukle left from Clover's mouth. "It's late, Dad. So tell me what sort of deal you are looking forward to offering." "Come home and stay with us. Since you are in the town, we will be ridiculed by society and various industries, and I am unable to hold my family together. No matter what happened tonight, we can still sort out our misunderstanding and start to live like a family." "I am impressed. Is this really you, or has your kind wife forced you to take some potion to humble you?" Clover mocked without holding back. "Clove... be care...f.." Before Clover's father could finish his warning, Clover jabbed her
★★★★★"I... I don't understand!" Kayden moved uncomfortably in his chair."Did I speak a foreign language, or are you too far from me to hear what I said?" Joshua added as he turned completely around, his sharp eyes landing straight on Kayden, who felt a chill run down his spine."No..." Kayden shook his head, "I heard you clearly, but I don't understand why you have asked it since I don't have any reason to be jealous or angry." He was not truly close to Joshua, but admired his stance and intellect, which was the reason behind the soaring success of the Hudson industry."You are my uncle and I didn't want to smear your reputation or make you feel bad because of the people who used to be related to me," Kayden replied with a humble tone. He shifted a little to his side because he felt something poking him in the bottom."You are a good man, Kay. But sometimes the goodness shouldn't be the dark patch in a relationship that has just begun. About Clover Hastings," Joshua's furrow smoothe
★★★★★"What does he think of himself?" Clover muttered under her breath as she walked on the same path she had taken earlier to face the man she was nervous about, but now she was pissed that she had been on her best behaviour.Since she was lost cursing the man in her head, she did not notice a family figure heading her way. Her eyes were lowered, and her lips curled into bitter rage. As she was about to collide with the person, her phone rang, sharp and loud, which eventually brought her back to reality, and she saw Kayden stop right in front of her.Her expression turned cold, and she quickly stepped away from the middle of the path, moving slightly to the side. She tried to cross him without sharing a single word, but it was not the same thing Kayden had in his head.He said with a deep tone, "If you can stop your phone from ringing, we can have words."In response, Clover put her hand into her bag and brought out her phone, but instead of stopping the ringing, she took the call a
★★★★ "Mom, it feels like I have wrapped up a war instead of my engagement party. I cannot imagine my day has been ruined like this right under my nose," Cindy cried, her hand balled into fists on her lap, eyes straight with blazing anger. "Forgive me, dear. Whatever happened at the party was because of me," Zona looked at her daughter with remorseful eyes, "If I had known that bitch would create such Chaos at your party, I would never have suggested your father invite her." She went forward to touch Cindy's head to calm her down. But before her fingers could graze Cindy's hair, Cindy jerked her head back, swatted the hand away as if it were poison. Zona froze, her face collapsed into raw disappointment. "Oh, you know it just as well as I do. Dad is not the one at fault here. Rather the entire disaster is the Masterpiece of your brilliant intelligence," Cindy said, turning her head at Zona with complete anger on her face. "You decided to invite her here to humiliate her. So th
★★★★"You were absent for so many years," Joshua raised one brow, and the coldness on his face deepened. "How did you suddenly decide to come back?"Clover relaxed her spine, parted her lips to answer, but her words were cut short by Joshua again, "I am not forcing you to answer, but I cannot let go of my curiosity to hear you speaking of the intention.""Since the divorce happened, I didn't find any reason to stay here," Clover replied, keeping her gaze on Joshua.Somewhere she had an idea that whenever Kayden's family met her, they would definitely bring up this topic, and it did not matter to her to say anything about it because she had divorced him."You must have got over the divorce, that is why you decided to return, or your heart suddenly started to throb for your parents," Joshua's tone left a mocking feeling for Clover, who would no longer feel like she could be polite with him anymore even though all she was doing was to respect him because he was an elder."I don't feel co
★★★★★ "Miss Hastings, I hope you have not faced any hassle reaching here," Hardin said with a polite smile to Clover. "Being his assistant must be hard, no matter how well he paid!" Clover said, returning the smile. "Is that because I am in his house at this godly hour?" Hardin asked, not getting offended as the smile did not leave his lips. "No, seeing your boss's sincerity for the deal for which he chose to meet me instead of closing his eyes at this 'Godly' hour, I tried to feel your thoughts," Clover pressed on Godly. Standing behind her, Jemma looked down and smiled, but she did not let her voice crack. She believed the assistant was sensible and mature enough to understand what Clover actually meant. "Thank you for these kind words," Hardin replied, then moved to a side, showing off where Clover should head. If his boss were not impatient to meet Miss Hastings, he would probably enjoy another moment to talk to her. 'since a woman being this sarcastic is rare.' Hardin thoug
