"He looks like he is on a hunting mission," Jemma muttered as she skillfully snatched a drink when a waiter brought a tray filled with drinks to the other guest.

"Hunting?" Clover chuckled, "Does my house look like a hunting field? There won't be a dime to be found in any corner,” Clover said, looking at the mysterious men, then shifting her gaze she glanced over her shoulder to the stage and added.

"Do you think this is just about love? Please!" Clover said with a mocking chuckle, "My family is clinging to Hudson like leeches-riding his coattails, soaking up every ounce of luxury until they find their next shiny opportunity to latch onto."

"Seems like they have no idea about you," Jemma chortled, sipping the drink in her hand, "I swear, they will probably orgasm on the spot once they find out what you are actually worth.

"Nah, they won't even think of buttering me up,” Clover had a thoughtful expression.

“Do you know why I was called to this house today, not any other day," Clover said, smiling at Jemma, who raised her brows, adding, "They want you to participate in whatever is going on in your house."

"Bingo!" Clover chuckled, "The man on the stage marrying my sweet sister is none other than my ex-husband."

The drink spilt right away through Jemma's lips as she wiped it off with the back of her hand, blurting, "Fuck off!" Her brows drawn in surprise, "You got to be kidding me!"

"World is fucking mess," Clover addressed. "You cannot imagine what I have gone through to become what I am now! Thanks to everyone in my family," Clove said to Jemma, looking into the space with distracted eyes.

"Did I just make you sad?" Jemma teased.

"You wish!" Clover spat.

" Oh-oh!" Jemma reacted, which made Clover turn her head behind, but before she could do that, Jemma said, "Don't turn around!"

"Why?"

"Well, your ex-husband may have things to say to you because he is coming to us," Jemma said through her pressed lips before looking somewhere else.

"Are you sure?" Clover wanted to confirm. She had expected it, but it was sooner than she imagined.

"My eyesight is quite fine, boss!" Jemma replied coolly, her voice laced with that kind of sarcasm that cut clean.

"Hmm..." Katherine hummed and ended the rest of the drink in her hand, then placed it on a large table at her arm's length, turned around, and walked past Jemma toward the unfamiliar man sitting on the couch.

Jemma frowned as she silently followed her boss, "Can't she inform me beforehand about her action. I like drama with my champagne!" Jemma muttered as her lips curled on the side.

The next moment, Jemma felt the man of the party come to a halt next to her. Hence, she kept her eyes on Clover and thought- 'What the hell should I say to him? Fuck! Playing a drama is much harder than killing. I should have stayed back home with my gun. Ah-My hand is itching!'

On the contrary, Clover approached the man with a straight face. It was the same mysterious man she had been discussing earlier with Jemma.

The man had on a black suit, brown light wavy hair neatly brushed back, not a strand out of place. His green eyes were the only freshness; otherwise, the chilling aura he emitted felt like a freezing winter air sipped into the bone.

"I know you don't know me, and I don't know you either," Clover said, casually sitting next to him, while the man did not respond, nor did he swat Clover away. His eyes were glued on Clover, as if her presence made him curious, and he was looking forward to knowing more.

Seeing the man was unbothered, Clover smiled inwardly since it was not every day she got to meet such a reserved man.

Letting herself relax, she added, "I am offering you 1 million, and in return, I am going to kiss you." Clover stared straight at his face, but not a single expression could be seen, leaving her quite puzzled.

A woman was taking the initiative to kiss, and she was willing to pay such an amount; a normal person should have swallowed once.

"It's urgent, just answer me yes or no," Clover wanted to accomplish her plan, also hoping the person would not reject her on her face.

"How long do I have to do it?" The man at least opened his mouth, but such a deep voice left Clover stunned. She didn’t expect it to be soft, but at the same time, the depth and heaviness in his voice were far more than she had imagined.

"Let’s kiss!" Clover said, and arched forward, wrapping both her hands around that man's neck. She waited for a few seconds, giving the man the time to consider, but when she felt that the man had his own will in this, she pressed her lips to his in a kiss.

"Ah-huh, not bad!" Clover thought in her head, "I know Kayden is watching. He thought I was the same pitiful woman who was going to cry seeing him getting engaged to my sister. I know he must have dreamt that I would beg him to get back.”.

Clover was quite impressed with her plan. Hence, she did not feel she was breathless until she heard a whisper, "Breath, or you are going to faint."

Clover gasped, as she felt like a string had been pulled that was latched to her heart, and she came out of her trance. She slowly parted away, blinking at the man's face.

"I was... was out of breath!" Said Clover with a fuzzy brain. Even though it was a couple of seconds, she yearned more.

"Do you want to try again?" He asked with a straight face, but it made Clover flustered, and she shook her head, moved her eyes somewhere else, and stammered to speak, "I... I am fine. Please, meet me outside, the cheque will be given to you," and her gaze returned to the man.

She was waiting for his answer when suddenly Clover heard her stepmother, who screamed out in terror, "Clover, what did you do?"

Clover sharply looked back and found not only her stepmother but nearly every face in the room frozen in horror, their eyes locked on her.

"Have you drowned all your shame already?"

Clover narrowed her eyes and said, "I don't see anything wrong."

At the time, Cindy rushed to her mother's side and said to Clover, "Sis, do you know who he is?"

★★★★★ Clover stared at the number for a few seconds before picking up the call, "I cannot believe my eyes that you call me, especially after what I did in the house." "You can be ungrateful, but I cannot. I-I am your father if you have forgotten by any chance after staying away for a long time," the gruff voice spoke on the call. It sounded pissed than ever. "Hah!" A slight chukle left from Clover's mouth. "It's late, Dad. So tell me what sort of deal you are looking forward to offering." "Come home and stay with us. Since you are in the town, we will be ridiculed by society and various industries, and I am unable to hold my family together. No matter what happened tonight, we can still sort out our misunderstanding and start to live like a family." "I am impressed. Is this really you, or has your kind wife forced you to take some potion to humble you?" Clover mocked without holding back. "Clove... be care...f.." Before Clover's father could finish his warning, Clover jabbed her

★★★★★"I... I don't understand!" Kayden moved uncomfortably in his chair."Did I speak a foreign language, or are you too far from me to hear what I said?" Joshua added as he turned completely around, his sharp eyes landing straight on Kayden, who felt a chill run down his spine."No..." Kayden shook his head, "I heard you clearly, but I don't understand why you have asked it since I don't have any reason to be jealous or angry." He was not truly close to Joshua, but admired his stance and intellect, which was the reason behind the soaring success of the Hudson industry."You are my uncle and I didn't want to smear your reputation or make you feel bad because of the people who used to be related to me," Kayden replied with a humble tone. He shifted a little to his side because he felt something poking him in the bottom."You are a good man, Kay. But sometimes the goodness shouldn't be the dark patch in a relationship that has just begun. About Clover Hastings," Joshua's furrow smoothe

★★★★★"What does he think of himself?" Clover muttered under her breath as she walked on the same path she had taken earlier to face the man she was nervous about, but now she was pissed that she had been on her best behaviour.Since she was lost cursing the man in her head, she did not notice a family figure heading her way. Her eyes were lowered, and her lips curled into bitter rage. As she was about to collide with the person, her phone rang, sharp and loud, which eventually brought her back to reality, and she saw Kayden stop right in front of her.Her expression turned cold, and she quickly stepped away from the middle of the path, moving slightly to the side. She tried to cross him without sharing a single word, but it was not the same thing Kayden had in his head.He said with a deep tone, "If you can stop your phone from ringing, we can have words."In response, Clover put her hand into her bag and brought out her phone, but instead of stopping the ringing, she took the call a

★★★★ "Mom, it feels like I have wrapped up a war instead of my engagement party. I cannot imagine my day has been ruined like this right under my nose," Cindy cried, her hand balled into fists on her lap, eyes straight with blazing anger. "Forgive me, dear. Whatever happened at the party was because of me," Zona looked at her daughter with remorseful eyes, "If I had known that bitch would create such Chaos at your party, I would never have suggested your father invite her." She went forward to touch Cindy's head to calm her down. But before her fingers could graze Cindy's hair, Cindy jerked her head back, swatted the hand away as if it were poison. Zona froze, her face collapsed into raw disappointment. "Oh, you know it just as well as I do. Dad is not the one at fault here. Rather the entire disaster is the Masterpiece of your brilliant intelligence," Cindy said, turning her head at Zona with complete anger on her face. "You decided to invite her here to humiliate her. So th

★★★★"You were absent for so many years," Joshua raised one brow, and the coldness on his face deepened. "How did you suddenly decide to come back?"Clover relaxed her spine, parted her lips to answer, but her words were cut short by Joshua again, "I am not forcing you to answer, but I cannot let go of my curiosity to hear you speaking of the intention.""Since the divorce happened, I didn't find any reason to stay here," Clover replied, keeping her gaze on Joshua.Somewhere she had an idea that whenever Kayden's family met her, they would definitely bring up this topic, and it did not matter to her to say anything about it because she had divorced him."You must have got over the divorce, that is why you decided to return, or your heart suddenly started to throb for your parents," Joshua's tone left a mocking feeling for Clover, who would no longer feel like she could be polite with him anymore even though all she was doing was to respect him because he was an elder."I don't feel co

★★★★★ "Miss Hastings, I hope you have not faced any hassle reaching here," Hardin said with a polite smile to Clover. "Being his assistant must be hard, no matter how well he paid!" Clover said, returning the smile. "Is that because I am in his house at this godly hour?" Hardin asked, not getting offended as the smile did not leave his lips. "No, seeing your boss's sincerity for the deal for which he chose to meet me instead of closing his eyes at this 'Godly' hour, I tried to feel your thoughts," Clover pressed on Godly. Standing behind her, Jemma looked down and smiled, but she did not let her voice crack. She believed the assistant was sensible and mature enough to understand what Clover actually meant. "Thank you for these kind words," Hardin replied, then moved to a side, showing off where Clover should head. If his boss were not impatient to meet Miss Hastings, he would probably enjoy another moment to talk to her. 'since a woman being this sarcastic is rare.' Hardin thoug
