I walked into the house still shaking from what had just happened at Bobby's place.

The living room lights were on. The TV was playing some reality show.

And Zuki was sprawled on the couch in tiny shorts and a tank top, eating potato chips.

She looked up when I came in, her face lighting up.

"Finally," she said. "I've been bored out of my mind. Where have you been?"

I dropped my purse on the side table and tried to steady my breathing.

"I went to Bobby's place," I said.
