เข้าสู่ระบบChapter 1: Morning Rush. Steven POV. Today had to be one of the worst days of my life. And I meant it literally. It started with a rude awakening. I'd woken up late with a bad tummy ache, and spent about 45 mins on the toilet bowl, wondering what I ate last night to give me such terrible diarrhea. As I clutched my tissue in my hand, grinding my teeth as my anus sent out waste explosions, I vowed in my heart never to eat sushi late at night again. As if that was not enough torment for one day, right now I was stuck in the longest traffic in Las Vegas history. The road was a chaotic mess, one entire lane was blocked off for maintenance, with a diversion sign directing traffic into a single, congested lane. Cars inched along, each driver jostling for space. It seemed like the universe was conspiring against me It was 7:45 a.m., and I was running late for work. I had a crucial meeting to attend this morning. While I was navigating the slow and congested traffic with a sore mood,
Monalisa POV.My heart skipped a beat as I stared at the box in his hand.Wait.Was this really happening? Was he actually proposing to me?He flipped the box open, revealing a large diamond ring. "I know I'm late, I should have done this immediately I found out you were carrying my baby," he shook his head and another tear slipped down his other cheek. "I was foolish to walk away the first time."He held the ring up to me, "I will do right by you, Mona. For you, I'll try to become the man you need. Please marry me and make me the happiest man alive."As I stared down at the ring, tears welled up in my eyes and my heart melted. His eyes bored into mine, "Please Mona, I want to be forever yours. What do you say?"I stared at him, my heart racing with all the emotions I'd felt over the past couple of weeks. "Say yes," I heard Maya's voice croak from my house window. My head swung in that direction and I found her peeping at me through the curtain blinds. What was worse?I saw a bigger
Monalisa POV. Our taxi slowly came to a halt a few meters away from Greg's car. He was dressed in a simple black Givenchy hoodie with matching sweat pants, yet he still looked extremely stylish with the grey Chopard sunglasses shielding his eyes. "Hold up, Mona. Are we staring at your boyfriend right now, or did Drake just come into town?" Maya mummured. "Ex-boyfriend, Maya, ex-boyfriend," I firmly corrected. But even as I said the words my heart was racing wildly as I stared at him through the car windshield. "What is he doing here?" Maya voiced my thoughts. "Did he drive all the way from Vegas to this city? How does he know where you live?" She wondered out loud. I sighed deeply, I could ask the same questions. But this was Greg, he could always find me if he wanted. Yet, he hadn't sent me a single message or called me once all these days after our breakup. So what was he doing here now? "Let's go hear what he wants," Maya said and started to open her door. I quickly grabb
Monalisa POV. I stared at the doctor taken aback by her question. "Yes, I am," I answered, "I checked with a pregnancy test strip a few weeks ago." She nodded, "After you tested with the strip, did you visit a hospital to confirm?" "No," I replied, somewhat confused. "Do I need to still confirm in a hospital after the house test?" The doctor raised her eyes to the roof as though she'd been through such situations before. "I'm sending you to the Lab for a proper test using your blood work," she said and walked over to her desk. Pressing the intercom on her desk, she called the attending nurse. Hold on a minute... What was going on? "Wait, I don't understand," I said sitting up on the bed, "Are we done with the scan? Is my baby okay?" "The scan didn't show an embryo, the sack or anything attached to your uterus," she answered. "What?" I asked. "Huh?" Maya echoed beside me. The doctor saw the confusion on our faces and decided to explain further. "I suspect that either it's t
Monalisa POV.3 weeks later.Maya and I were sitting in the lobby section of a hospital, waiting to see an obstetrician and have an ultrasound."I can't wait to see the scan," Maya mused excitedly, "I hope it's a baby girl.""It's still too early to tell the gender," I told her.She nodded, agreeing, but again her enthusiasm perked up. "If it's a boy, I'm naming him Cillian," she whispered to me."Why Cillian?" I inquired, wondering why she had picked out that specific name. "You know, Cillian is an Irish name," she waved a hand, "Considering the father is Irish, I think it's only fitting for my nephew."I exhaled an exasperated breath, "I never said Greg was Irish.""But you said he was a ginger...""He's American. Although he does have their features, but it's a long lineage. Remember we agreed not to talk about him, Maya," I reminded her. Then creased my brows, "In fact, why are you trying to name my baby? That's my job.""It's mine, too. I'm the co-mother," she insisted, pursing
Monalisa POV.The sun was high in the sky when I stepped out of Salt Lake City International Airport, Utah.I glanced down at my wrist watch. It was 1p.m. in the afternoon. The schedule for the flight had been; 10:18 a.m.–12:48 pm.Take off from Las Vegas and touch down in Salt Lake City.Yesterday, after taking the test, I'd made up my mind to leave everything behind and come back home. With that strong resolve, I put my things together, packing what little belongings I had. After that I booked a flight ticket on Delta Airline and bided my time, waiting for the crack of dawn. This morning, I patiently waited for Steven to leave the house for work before I sprang into action. I took my bath and got dressed. Finally, stepping out of my room after many days of locking myself in. Dragging my suitcase out to the living area, I ordered an Uber to the airport. And while I waited for it to arrive, I took the moment to scribble down a farewell letter to Steven. Thanking him for everything
