Chapter 3

Penulis: Mohini
My mind exploded, the world spinning violently around me.

Why did Quinn have to trample my dignity like this?

Not only did she lie to me and make me raise the child she conceived with Miles, but she even planned to use my illness to elevate him in the hospital.

When Quinn came out of the shower, she glanced at her phone and casually suggested, "Our hospital is hosting the launch of a new technology. I want to invite you to attend. You’re the most important part of my achievement."

The moment I remembered their plan, a shiver jolted through me. I stepped back instinctively. "I'm not going. I have things to do."

Quinn's expression darkened instantly.

"What things? You're a grown man staying home all day. Doing what exactly? All these years, you couldn't touch me. Now I've finally managed to get pregnant, and you're giving me attitude? Who do you think you're showing that attitude to?"

Her words stabbed straight into my heart, sharper and colder than any outsider’s mockery.

Well, who turned me into this miserable shell of a man to begin with?

Seeing I wasn’t budging, she snapped with a command, "It's not up to you. Get changed. We're leaving."

She went straight to the closet and pulled out clothes for me. Despite my resistance, she called in the housemaids to assist me in dressing.

The moment they made contact, even through layers of fabric, red welts spread rapidly across my skin, swelling painfully.

Nevertheless, she didn’t care at all. The only thing she cared about was whether Miles could climb higher.

I had no strength left to fight. The bodyguards shoved me roughly into the car, and before long, we arrived at the venue.

Everyone was drinking, chatting, and smiling. It really did look like a harmless promotional event.

I had just begun to relax when Miles walked over with a bright, almost mocking smile.

"Noah, you are one lucky guy. Despite being allergic to women, Quinn still managed to get pregnant."

Every word dripped hostility. Quinn sat on the sofa, her gaze soft and indulgent as she watched him.

The others stifled their laughter as they joined in.

"Hear the rumor? Noah here is supposedly irresistible to women. If he's allergic, he must've been suffering all these years, huh?"

"I heard once men with this kind of condition get the chance, they can't hold it in, just like a male dog in heat. Who knows if it's true?"

They patted my shoulder with fake friendliness, pointing and whispering at me with smug amusement.

Humiliation, helplessness, disorientation… all of it crashed into me at once, drowning me without mercy.

Heat rushed up my chest, and I snapped. I turned my furious gaze to Quinn.

"Quinn, you're my wife. Are you really going to sit there and do nothing?"

Only then did she lift her hand lazily, motioning the others back to their seats.

Miles stepped forward, pretending to be kind as he handed me a glass of water. "Don't take their words to heart, man. They're just joking. Here. Drink some water and cool off."

Hearing the sarcasm woven between every syllable, I couldn’t act like nothing was happening.

"I've shown up. Now, can I go home?"

As soon as the words left my mouth, Quinn slammed her wine glass onto the table with a sharp crack.

The room went dead silent.

"Noah, Miles is trying to help you out here. How can you be so ungrateful? Drink it. Don't embarrass him."

Miles still held the glass out to me, his expression seeming to be friendly. "Yeah, man. Give me a chance. It's just a cup of water."

I looked around and finally realized that everyone in the room was staring at me with anticipation.

My heart sank.

I finally understood. This wasn’t just a launch event.

Quinn had lied to me again.

Miles's sudden action threw everyone around us into panic.Nonetheless, I remained as calm as ever."A woman like her? I haven't wanted her for a long time. You're the only one who treats her like a treasure. I don't have time to play along with your nonsense. Move."The knife in his hand tightened. His eyes reddened with agitation. "Noah, you're lying through your teeth! If you don't like her, why fight me for her? Why push her to hurt my feelings? She ignores me because you told her to, didn't you?!"I let out a cold, humorless laugh."Did you think my last five years were easy? When the two of you were setting me up, you didn't hold back, did you?"I still remembered the first time I met Miles and how he spoke to me with that sneering, mocking tone. From that moment, I knew that he wouldn't let me off easily. Knowing Quinn as I did, most of those ideas must have come from him.How could I not hate him?Instead of remorse, Miles grinned wildly. "Yeah, I did it on purpose. So

Seeing how self-righteous this woman was, I truly couldn’t understand her anymore. As far as I knew, she and Miles had grown up together and had always stayed in close contact, but now, in such a short amount of time, she claimed she had completely cut him off. That only made her seem even less trustworthy.Miles was awful, but she wasn’t any better.I let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Quinn, people change. You're no longer the woman I once loved. And I'm no longer the man who only loved you."Quinn suddenly frowned. "Have you fallen for someone else?"Before I could answer, Sylvia walked over and smoothed down my collar that the wind had blown out of place."It’s windy. Let’s head back and talk."I gave her a small smile and followed her.Behind us, Quinn immediately lost her composure. "Noah, did you really fall for someone else?! No wonder you're being so ruthless, no wonder you refuse to forgive me—how could you do this?!"Don’t forget, we’re still married!"Her angry, help

While I stayed hidden, taking care of the aftermath, I moved to a quiet coastal town named Seabrook Harbor to recover. What I left for Quinn was a lawsuit that would ruin her name completely and a lifetime of regret she would never escape from.Sylvia examined the fading allergy marks on my skin and said reassuringly, "Mr. Reed, as long as you stop taking the medication and follow the treatment plan, your body will recover quickly."I nodded calmly, though inside, bitterness burned like acid. I never imagined that five years of marriage had been one long, elaborate scam and that Quinn could go so far for the sake of her beloved "male confidant".I would never go back. After some weeks of rest, my body gradually recovered, and the allergy symptoms disappeared completely.I thought I would never see her again, but I ran into her at a street corner in Seabrook Harbor. It took me a few seconds to accept reality. When I kept walking, pretending not to see her, Quinn chased after me a

The man who entered was none other than Quinn’s father, the chairman of the Rowan Corporation, Grant Rowan. He had already learned about the scandal at the press event, and his face was filled with disappointment and fury."Quinn, weren’t you the one who hated Noah in the first place? You begged me multiple times to help you break off the marriage between our two families. Now that he’s leaving, shouldn’t you feel relieved?"Hearing this, Quinn felt her chest tighten painfully. "Dad, how can you say that? Noah is your son-in-law."Grant let out a cold snort."Noah lived in our house for five years, and for five years, he couldn’t get you pregnant. Everyone in our circle has been laughing at us Rowans. If it weren’t for the marriage agreement, I would’ve let you be with Miles long ago."He had never thought highly of Noah.A grown man living in his wife’s home through a family marriage was nothing to brag about, and on top of that, he had some bizarre condition that made him aller

Everyone crowded around as Quinn took the papers with trembling hands. The details were clearly delineated, set out in black ink against the white paper. All the evidence of how she had deceived Noah over the years had been organized cleanly, meticulously.Quinn collapsed inside. So this wasn’t a moment of impulsive revenge. Noah had prepared everything long before today. He had planned his retaliation thoroughly."So he chose today… this method… to completely destroy me?" Her voice broke as she screamed into the air like someone gone mad."Noah! Why are you so cruel? Why did you choose this way to punish me?! Say something!"Alas, Noah would never answer her again.Overwhelmed by rage and despair, Quinn’s vision went black, and she collapsed. When she woke again, she was lying in a hospital room. Miles was seated next to her."Noah… where is he? Isn’t he supposed to be here?"The moment the words left her lips, she realized it herself. Noah had decided to leave her, and he

Instead of the treatment demonstration everyone expected, the giant screen suddenly began playing a crystal-clear audio recording."Look at how pathetic he looks when he has an allergic reaction!""I made that formula myself. It makes him break out the moment he touches me…""He wants to be a father so badly? Then I'll let him raise the baby Miles and I made…"Line after line exposed the entire conspiracy—raw, unfiltered—for every guest in the room and every viewer online to hear.Quinn froze completely."This… what is this? The recording… how could the recording…"Her knees buckled, and she nearly collapsed. Miles hurried forward to hold her upright."Quinn, did someone betray us? Where’s Noah? Wasn’t he supposed to be in the lounge?" Miles looked around angrily, demanding answers. The women all shook their heads frantically."Without your orders, how would we dare say anything?"Quinn didn’t even have the energy to scold them. She stumbled and ran toward the lounge. It wa
