David returned home looking like a shell of a person.

He had numbed himself with alcohol. Betty did not dare approach him.

She wanted to ask where her mother was, but deep down, she had a feeling that something bad had happened to Jasmine.

She did not dare to think about it. She had not even had the chance to tell her mom she won first place in her dance competition.

Betty held back her tears, watching as her father drank glass after glass.

David tilted the bottle back, but it was empty. He blinked through a haze of drunkenness, swaying slightly with the bottle in his hand.

Suddenly, the phone rang.

He fumbled to pick it up.

"This is Jasmine's legal representative. Please bring your identification. All family members are required to come to the law firm. Jasmine's will is to be read in the presence of all immediate family." The cold female voice hung up without waiting for a reply.
