I stared at the blue sky. The night was slowly creeping, painting the sky in dark purple. I felt a void in my heart. The dull ache, the howling of my wolf makes me yearn all the time. I couldn’t focus on my work, my private life but everything feels like a burden. The harsh slap of betrayal from my mate always reminded me of the fool I was to ever trust a traitor’s daughter.
“Alpha, you have to see this report.”
My beta, Alex’s voice forced me to come back into the present and I tore my gaze from the sky to glance at him.
“What kind of report is this?” I asked turning to face him.
“The reports on the last three months’ expenditure on the pack. I think we need to cut the budget or you have to adjust from your own money.” He said showing me the statics.
I glanced at the balance sheet and my headache grew. Since last week, I wasn’t able to handle my work on my own. Gemma used to do most of the work, it was her job and I must say that I didn’t have to worry about the finances and the internal administration for last three years.
“We never had this problem before then what happened now?” I asked him with a frown.
He lowered his head.
“We don’t know. For last three years Luna Gemma had been handling the finances with meagre income and also managed to save for the emergency. The new accountants are struggling to divide the expanses and the same situation is of other things as well.” He answered.
I rubbed my forehead.
Again Gemma.
“Alight, I will check it tonight and see what we can do and fire those useless people who can’t manage the budget.” I yelled in frustration.
“But they are not wrong…” He tried to say but I glared him.
“Send your father here. I need to have a word with him.” I ordered him.
“I am sorry, Alpha but he isn’t available at the pack currently. He has gone for some work. He didn’t tell me anything about it.” He replied.
It made me frown. Why everything was slipping from my hands? I am losing control over my pack and my people.
“Whenever he returns, tell him to meet me and also send more men to other packs. We need to earn support from most of the packs against Yellow Mist Pack. Alpha Axel is a vile man and I am sure he is up to something.” I instructed him.
“Okay, Alpha.” He said. I saw hesitation on his face.
“We checked the woods again and also talked to the nearby packs. There’s no news on her. Luna’s body was also not found. Either’s it’s eaten by the wild animals or she might have fled very far but in her condition, the first possibility is stronger.” He said.
My heart clenched inside my chest. No matter how much I claim to hate her and disgust her for her betrayal. She was carrying another man’s child. I had given her the title of my Luna. The God had cursed me by giving me a traitor’s blood as a mate but I accepted her and stayed loyal in our relationship but she stabbed my trust brutally.
I didn’t kill her when she deserved it because she had contributed a lot in the growth of our pack. I can’t ignore it but I wish she was an ideal mate. Her child died in her womb as former beta told me but it pained me for no reason.
Her own mother confirmed her crimes.
“Stop the search. I don’t want to do anything with her. She is a closed chapter of my life. You may take your leave now.” I ignored the uneasiness of my wolf.
He nodded and left my office. Loneliness again started haunting me. I lived my life in closed shell. I keep my life private and closed ever since my father died. It was a huge blow for me and my mother. We never recovered from the loss. Those bastards of Yellow Mist Pack killed him.
The house smells like her. Every single corner has her memories. We hardly used to talk, mostly on pack related matters. I used to get intimate with her just for my wolf who needed his mate. It was purely physical needs but the bed feels cold without her.
I don’t recall sleeping in my bedroom ever since the incident happened. I spent most of my time in my office.
There was another knock on the door. I didn’t want to see anyone but I smelled my mother’s scent. A moment later, she walked into the room.
“Why are you punishing yourself like this, Adonis? Ever since that bitch has gone, you are not yourself anymore and it makes me worried.” She said with so much hatred for Gemma.
My mother never liked her. Gemma’s family is the reason of my father’s death. Her father sold his loyalty to the enemies and tricked my father to face those wolves alone. It resulted in his death, right in front of my eyes.
“Mom, I am busy in my work. Trust me, she isn’t in my mind.” I tried to assure her but I guess she could catch my lies.
“Then why are you searching her everywhere? She is dead for god’s sake.” She sneered and my wolf, growled in annoyance.
“It is necessary to find her if she is alive, Mom. You know that she is still my mate. I haven’t rejected her and she still holds the position of my Luna.” I gave her a logical reason and she scoffed.
“Does it really matter now? She betrayed you by sleeping with another man and got pregnant for her lover. You still think that she still deserves to be called your Luna? Get over her and find a fated mate. We need an heir, your son for the pack’s future.” She said in a dominating tone.
I don’t care for her continuous demand for an heir. I have a lot on my platter ever since Gemma had been banished.
“I am not ready for this, Mom. My wolf needs a closure.” I said in a decisive tone.
“Adonis, forget her and start a new life with someone who deserves to be called your Luna.” She said.
“She was the best warrior and had the sharpest mind in the pack, Mom.” I reminded her.
“Not above Seline. She is more beautiful, smart, young and have the beta blood. I think she can be the perfect Luna for you.” She said with a shine in her eyes.
I was shocked to hear this from her because this thought would never occur to me.
[ Leonardo ]The woman coiled on the floor in front of me didn’t show any sign of fear which confirmed my leftover doubts that she had done something very terrible to rise my mate’s temper and she ended up being here.“I heard you see me as a failure to this pack, Miss Venessa. Did I hear right?” I asked her kneeling down to her level.“I won’t take my words back, Alpha but I have my reasons. Both you and I know that you forcefully claimed your rights over this pack. We were okay when we heard a worthy man took the charge of us instead of a dick but you proved us wrong. All you know is to kill and hurt people.” She said,My claws came out but before I could attack her, Clayton pushed her back.“Alpha, she is only trying to prove you as an impatient and temperamental man. Please, I beg you to hold back and let her rot here. She will die eventually.” He advised me.“See, even your Beta is more mature than you, Alpha Leonardo.” She chuckled even though she was barely conscious.“You are
[ Leonardo ]I was going through some important documents when someone barged inside my office without permission and it could be only one person, Beta Clayton in case of an emergency.“Do you want to die early, Clayton?” I glared him.“I am sorry, Alpha but you need to come with me. The Luna has done something which needs your urgent attention.” He said in a tensed tone but what caught my attention was Sabrina’s mention.“What did she do? Is she alright?” I asked as panic rushed through my cells.“No, she is fine but she has attacked someone so badly that it’s almost impossible for the doctors to save her.” Clayton said.“Her? Whom did she attack? Come on, how many times do I have to tell you that don’t talk to me in riddles and come straight to the point, Clayton.” I yelled at him.I was already on my way to the infirmary to see my mate. I was only worried for her because she wasn’t a violent person.“It’s Venessa. The Luna attacked her when she went to visit her. It didn’t end ther
[ Sabrina ]I breathed in relief when I saw Leonardo’s car entering in the premises of the packhouse after a long, anxious day. I kept thinking about him.I tried to keep myself busy throughout the day so I’d not worry about him but it didn’t work. I prayed to the Goddess to keep him safe even though he was the best warrior.“Leo..” I smiled widely and rushed out of the house to greet him but I tripped and fell down.As a result, my head hit the edge of the pillar. The pain was numbing.“Ahhh..” I winced. My head began to spin. The guards rushed to help me but I blacked out. When my eyes opened, I found myself in the infirmary. I could tell it by the smell and an iv attached to my wrist.“Why were you in hurry? I was already home but you have to behave like a kid.” I heard an angry voice from the right side.Leonardo was glaring down at me but his anger felt more like care and worry, he just had his way of expressing it.“I am sorry, I was just excited to see you.” I lowered my gaze.
[ Leonardo ]“Alpha, we’ll leave if we see any suspicious activities at Blue Moon Pack. I don’t trust them either but Alpha Ryan had never done something which can give us a chance to doubt his sincerity.” Clayton said as the driver pulled the brakes of the car when we reached at the threshold of Blue Moon Pack.“We won’t leave like cowards that’s all I know.” I said quietly because my mind was a mess. I had to hurry back to my own pack because in my absence it was under danger even though nobody had match with my warriors. They were flock of sheep without a leader, without their Alpha.“Alpha, welcome to the Blue Moon Pack, I alpha Ryan Dale and my Luna Micheala Winters welcome you and your pack members to our home.” Alpha Ryan, who was already present there with his luna and other pack members, greeted us.“My last visit wasn’t very pleasant but it added a few chapters in our history.” I said shaking my hand with him.Micheala threw me a hatred filled glance but I wasn’t bothered by
[ Sabrina ]I couldn’t believe that my mate wanted me to tell what I’d do if I were on his place. He was literally asking for my advice over the most concerning matter, the rogues and their tyrant alpha who was creating chaos in our border areas and it had stressed Leonardo over the last few days.“Well, I don’t know, you have better knowledge of these matters. I haven’t faced a real battlefield or an enemy.” I said awkwardly.“But you do have a properly functioning brain, right?” He raised his brow and I bit my inner mouth.“I don’t know much about rogues but I have studied their psychology during my school time. I had to do a case study for their psychology and behaviour and during my research, I learnt many unknown aspects of their lives.” I said.“You had psychology as a subject?” He asked me with astonishment.“Yes, I love to study nature of a person.” I told him.“I am curious to know more about rogues’ psychology and I have plenty of time tonight.” He said and I knew he was ser
[ Leonardo ]Alpha Ryan’s invitation left me in a spiral of countless thoughts. It wasn’t hidden from anyone that I hated the north region and I didn’t intend to keep any cordial links with them but to establish peace in both regions, I had to agree with my brother. That’s it.I never mentioned them nor I participate in any event where both regions took part. I always sent my delegation.“Leo, are you thinking about Alpha Ryan?” Sabrina’s voice forced me to look up and see her.She was holding a mug of brewing coffee.“Thank you for the coffee, I badly needed it.” I said raising it to my lips.My headache was increasing with passing hours.“If you aren’t able to trust him, I advise you to invite him over here or a different place where you feel comfortable.” She advised me.“I will go there even if it’s a trap, Sabrina. I can’t give him a reason to call me a chicken.” I said. The bittersweet beverage helped me to calm down.“Can I come with you?” I asked him.“No, I won’t risk your li
